Abstract

AbstractThis paper examines Ijma’ fi al-Tafsir regarding the meaning of al-fatā in QS al-Kahfi [18]:60 from the perspective of modern–contemporary exegetes. Using library research with a descriptive–analytical approach, it analyzes five tafsir works: al-Wasīṭ (Tantawi), Tafsir Asy-Sya‘rawi, Tafsir al-Azhar (Hamka), al-Mishbah (Quraish Shihab), and Zahratu al-Tafāsīr (Abu Zahrah). The results identify two typologies: (1) citing and accepting Ijma’ fi al-Tafsir, as done by Tantawi, Asy-Sya‘rawi, Hamka, and Quraish Shihab, who affirm al-fatā as Yūsha‘ bin Nūn based on authentic hadiths and the view of the majority; and (2) not explicitly citing Ijma’, as in Abu Zahrah’s interpretation, which maintains the general meaning of the term. These findings highlight the dynamic application of Ijma’ fi al-Tafsir in the modern–contemporary era, shaped by each exegete’s methodological framework and interpretive orientation. Keywords: Ijma’ fi al-Tafsir, al-fatā, QS al-Kahfi.

Abstract

This research examines the neurocognitive and psychological effects of Tajwid al-Qur'an, the combined practice of  Tajwid (Precise Recitation) and Tadabbur (Deep Contemplation), through a systematic review of neuroscience research. The findings demonstrate that Qur’anic recitation enhances brain function by increasing Alpha Waves (Associated with Relaxation) and Delta Waves (Linked to Deep Focus), while improving memory, emotional regulation, and neural connectivity. Contemplative reflection activates Pre-Frontal Cortex (PFC) functions, boosting critical thinking and spiritual awareness while significantly reducing stress biomarkers. The synergy of these practices provides empirical evidence for the Islamic concept of Qalb (Heart-Mind) as a trainable cognitive-emotional system. These results position Tajwid as both a spiritual practice and evidence-based cognitive therapy, offering groundbreaking insights for Islamic psychology, Qur’anic education methodologies, and spiritually-integrated mental health interventions. The research bridges traditional Islamic knowledge with contemporary neuroscience, suggesting practical applications for enhancing both religious and cognitive development. [Penelitian ini mengkaji efek neurokognitif dan psikologis dari Tajwid al-Qur'an, yaitu praktik gabungan antara Tajwid (Pembacaan yang Tepat) dan Tadabbur (Kontemplasi Mendalam), melalui tinjauan sistematis penelitian neurosains. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembacaan al-Qur'an meningkatkan fungsi otak dengan meningkatkan Gelombang Alpha (Terkait dengan Relaksasi) dan Gelombang Delta (Terkait dengan Fokus Mendalam), sekaligus memperbaiki memori, regulasi emosi, dan konektivitas neural. Refleksi kontemplatif mengaktifkan fungsi Pre-Frontal Cortex (PFC), meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan kesadaran spiritual dan pada saat yang bersamaan, secara signifikan mengurangi biomarker stres. Sinergi dari praktik-praktik ini memberikan bukti empiris terhadap konsep Islam tentang Qalb (Hati-Pikiran) sebagai sistem kognitif emosional yang dapat dilatih. Hasil penelitian ini menempatkan Tajwi@d tidak hanya sebagai praktik spiritual tetapi juga terapi kognitif berbasis bukti, yang menawarkan wawasan revolusioner untuk psikologi Islam, metodologi pendidikan al-Qur'an, dan intervensi kesehatan mental yang terintegrasi spiritual. Abstract

This Religion encourages its followers to engage in various forms of social worship, one of which is adopting children from underprivileged families as a means of alleviating their hardships. However, in practice, adoption is often carried out by altering the legal status of the adopted child to that of a biological one, which contradicts Islamic principles. This study aims to examine the socio-legal implications of QS al-Aḥzāb: 4–5, which emphasize the rectification of the concept of child adoption (tabannī) in Islam. These verses serve as the foundational basis for abolishing the pre-Islamic adoption system that equated adopted children with biological offspring. This research employs a library-based methodology with an asbāb al-nuzūl approach. The data are analyzed descriptively in relation to contemporary socio-religious phenomena. The findings indicate that Islam does not prohibit the practice of child care (ḥaḍānah), but restricts its legal consequences to ensure that it does not violate principles related to lineage, inheritance, and mahram relationships. The study also highlights the implementation of these values at Muzdalifah Orphanage in Waru, Sidoarjo, which applies an Islamic ḥaḍānah-based caregiving system providing affectionate care without altering the child’s original identity. The study concludes that QS al-Aḥzāb: 4–5 contain not only legal dimensions but also profound social values affirming the importance of compassion, justice, and responsibility in safeguarding children within modern society.

Abstract

This research examines the semantic shift of the term alaqah in the latest Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs Qur’an translation, from “a clot of blood” to “something that clings.” The change is influenced by modern embryological studies which reveal that in the alaqah phase, the embryo contains no blood elements but is instead attached to the uterine wall. Although classical tafsir interprets alaqah as blood-like, the new translation adopts a scientific perspective. Using Gadamer’s Hermeneutics, particularly Fusion of Horizons and Aesthetic Critique, this study argues that the newer meaning reflects modern epistemic taste shaped by rational-empirical paradigms rather than classical exegetical tradition.

Abstract

Melalui analisis semantik Tafsir Al-Maraghi, penelitian ini mengkaji idiomatik yang terdapat dalam Al-Qur'an dan ajaran spiritual yang terkandung di dalamnya. Dalam Al-Qur'an, ungkapan idiomatik (ta'bīr majāzī) tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai praktik berbahasa, tetapi juga sebagai sarana pembinaan moralitas dan spiritualitas manusia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kepustakaan dengan analisis kontekstual semantik. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa idiom Al-Qur'an dalam banyak surah menggambarkan konsep-konsep seperti iman, akhlak, eskatologi, dan tanggung jawab spiritual yang memiliki relevansi sosial. Tafsir Al-Maraghi menawarkan nasihat etis dan praktis yang membantu pembaca memahami pelajaran moral Al-Qur'an secara praktis.

Abstract

Artikel ini mengkaji penerapan metode tafsir kontekstual Abdullah Saeed terhadap QS. Al-Maidah [5]:38 tentang hukuman potong tangan bagi pencuri. Abdullah Saeed, pemikir Muslim kontemporer, mengembangkan pendekatan hermeneutika yang memposisikan Al-Qur'an sebagai teks hidup (living text) dengan makna yang terus berkembang sesuai konteks. Melalui model empat lapisan makna (tekstual, kontekstual, signifikansi, dan aplikasi), Saeed menekankan bahwa QS. Al-Maidah [5]:38 mengandung dimensi moral-etis yang lebih fundamental daripada bentuk hukumannya. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa hukuman potong tangan bukanlah tujuan akhir, melainkan sarana implementatif untuk mewujudkan nilai-nilai universal seperti keadilan, perlindungan harta, dan pencegahan kejahatan. Dalam konteks modern, pendekatan Saeed membuka ruang bagi reinterpretasi yang mempertimbangkan mekanisme alternatif seperti restitusi, rehabilitasi sosial, dan program pencegahan struktural, asalkan tujuan moral syariat (maqāṣid al-sharī'ah) tetap terwujud. Tafsir kontekstual tidak meniadakan otoritas teks Al-Qur'an, tetapi menghadirkan pemaknaan yang responsif terhadap realitas sosial kontemporer sambil mempertahankan nilai-nilai kemanusiaan universal Islam.
