Abstract

Strengthening character education for children and adolescents has become urgent amid widespread moral degradation, low social empathy, and the influence of popular culture that does not support the formation of noble values, especially in the Southwest Papua region. This community service activity was carried out at the Immanuel Boswezen Sorong with the aim of instilling character values through an approach combining art and local Papua culture. The method used was Project-Based Learning (PjBL), with project activities such as traditional Papua dance, crown making, and bead bracelet crafting. The activity involved 20 participants aged 3–15 years. The results showed improvements in responsibility, cooperation, confidence in public speaking, and a sense of love for local culture. Eighty percent of participants showed a change in attitude, 85% understood cultural symbols, and 100% were able to complete their projects. This programme had a positive social and cultural impact and opened up opportunities for the formation of a sustainable cultural community. The arts and culture approach proved to be an effective strategy for contextual character education in religious communities.

Abstract

The waste management issue in Padang Jati Urban Village remains a serious concern due to the low awareness of residents in sorting and managing household waste. Through the Community Service Program (KKN), students from the University of Bengkulu established a waste bank as a participatory and educational solution to improve environmental quality. This program applied a descriptive qualitative method with a participatory approach, involving socialization, waste sorting training, and operational implementation of the waste bank. The results showed increased public awareness, behavioral changes in waste sorting, and economic benefits through waste-saving systems. Although the program still faces challenges such as limited facilities and varying levels of community understanding, it demonstrates strong potential as a sustainable community-based waste management model that can be replicated in other areas.

Abstract

The waste problem is a crucial issue that is increasing along with population growth, which also causes an increase in waste volume and the need for waste disposal. If not managed properly, waste can cause various negative impacts such as the spread of disease, unpleasant odors, and decreased environmental aesthetics. For this reason, Bengkulu University KKN students period 105 Group 56 held an outreach activity for the Padang Jati Village community with the aim of providing education about wise waste management. This activity involved lectures, discussions, and waste sorting demonstrations. As a result, the community began to understand how to sort waste properly, realized the negative impacts of unmanaged waste, and learned the benefits of waste processing, which ultimately raised awareness of the importance of maintaining environmental cleanliness starting from themselves and the surrounding environment.

Abstract

This Community Service (PKM) activity aims to foster information technology literacy awareness from an early age among students at SD Negeri 31 Jati Tanah Tinggi Padang. Amidst the rapid development of the digital era, the skill of using technology wisely and productively has become an urgent need for the younger generation, including elementary school-aged children. This activity was conducted using an educative and interactive approach, including an introduction to basic ICT devices, safe internet practices, and the use of age-appropriate educational applications. Through enjoyable and participatory delivery methods, it is expected that students can understand the positive benefits of technology and utilize it to support their learning process. This program also contributes to the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, specifically in the form of community service.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to introduce and implement the use of Suno AI technology in developing learning media in the form of children's music and stories within the kindergarten environment. The primary issue faced by the partner institution is the limited resources for creating engaging teaching materials that are suitable for early childhood developmental stages. Through a training and mentoring approach, kindergarten teachers were provided with knowledge and practical skills in using Suno AI to produce children's songs and interactive stories relevant to classroom learning themes. The results of the activity show that this technology significantly aids in enhancing teacher creativity and enriching classroom learning media. The children also demonstrated high enthusiasm for the generated songs and stories, which positively impacted their learning motivation and language development. This activity provides tangible contributions to the utilization of AI-based technology in supporting creative and enjoyable early childhood education.

Abstract

The Community Service Program (KKN) in Nagari Guguak Malalo aims to examine the role of traditional dance in cultural preservation and the formation of national identity among young people. The implementation method includes participatory observation, dance training, and organizing art performances with local studios. The results show that traditional dance is an effective medium for instilling cultural values, increasing self-confidence, and shaping the identity of the younger generation. The art performance successfully showcased various traditional dances such as Tari Piring and Tari Indang with high enthusiasm from participants. The conclusion is that traditional dance has a vital role in cultural preservation and character building of the nation's children, requiring continuous support from various parties to ensure its sustainability.

Abstract

This research aims to describe strategies for strengthening reading, writing and arithmetic (calistung) skills for lower class elementary school students in Jorong Duo Koto, Nagari Guguak Malalo. This activity was carried out in the context of Padang State University Real Work Lectures (KKN) in July–August 2025. The approach used was descriptive qualitative with data collection methods in the form of observation, interviews and documentation. The main strategy implemented includes providing Calistung tutoring outside of school in an informal but structured manner, with a fun and personal approach. The results of the activity showed that some students showed enthusiasm and progress in their calistung abilities. Even though there are obstacles such as limited learning media, low intrinsic motivation, and students' lack of pedagogical experience, adaptive and contextual learning strategies are able to make a positive contribution to improving the quality of basic learning in the area.

Abstract

The growing problem of plastic waste has become a significant environmental challenge, particularly in rural areas. This study aims to describe the utilization of plastic waste into ecobricks as an innovative initiative by university students during their Community Service Program (KKN) to support environmental sustainability in Nagari Guguak Malalo, Batipuh Selatan Subdistrict, Tanah Datar Regency. A qualitative descriptive method was employed, with data collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that the conversion of plastic waste into ecobricks offers not only a practical solution for managing household waste but also raises community awareness regarding the importance of recycling and reducing plastic usage. This innovation has proven effective in empowering local communities, particularly women and youth groups, to actively engage in sustainable environmental activities. Furthermore, the KKN program fosters collaboration between students, village authorities, and local residents in building a cleaner and healthier environment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze people attitudes and behaviors in managing household waste in Bajak, Teluk Segara. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews and observations to understand the factors influencing residents' participation in waste collection services. The findings indicate that low community involvement is influenced by habits, local culture, and perceptions of service quality. Therefore, education and awareness-raising are essential strategies to encourage active participation and reduce the negative impacts of improper waste management.

Abstract

Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) adalah salah satu bentuk Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi. Kegiatan PKM ini dilakukan pada kelompok UMKM kerajinan rajut dan tembaga Osyin Craft. PKM ini diusulkan dengan tujuan memberdayakan UMKM agar mampu mengelola proses produksi mereka dengan lebih baik sehingga dapat meningkatkan daya saing, produktivitas dan keuntungan usaha Mulai dari Memberikan edukasi dalam rangka meningkatkan pengetahuan, keterampilan, efesiensi usaha dan peningkatan daya saing melalui pembuat perencanaan produksi, pengendalian produksi, teknik perencanaan dan pengendalian produksi serta penerapan teknologi. Dimana ini nantinya dapat diimplementasikan perencanaan dan pengendalian produksi efektif seperti peningkatan efesiensi, pengurangan biaya, peningkatan kepuasan pelanggan dan optmalisai penggunaan sumber daya. Metode pengabdian yang dilakukan adalah berbentuk pelatihan. Tahapan–tahapan pelatihan ini dibagi kedalam 4 (empat) tahapan, yaitu tahap persiapan, tahap pelaksanaan, tahap evaluasi program, dan tahap pelaporan.
