Abstract

The main problem of this research is how does the community understand the eclipse in Sumbang Village, Curio District, Enrekang Regency from a astronomical perspective? The main problem is then broken down into several sub-problems, namely: What is the reality of the community's understanding of eclipses in Sumbang Village, Curio District, Enrekang Regency. The type of research used is field research with the research approaches used are theological-normative (syar'i), juridical and sociological. The data sources for this research are traditional leaders, community leaders, religious leaders, Head of KUA and Village Imam. Furthermore, the data collection methods used were observation, interviews and documentation. Then, data processing and analysis techniques are carried out through three stages, namely: data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of this research show that there are people in Sumbang Village who do not know how the eclipse occurs, so their understanding still comes from the perspective of their ancestors. As the development of science changes people's opinions, for those who are educated, eclipses are considered a natural phenomenon that shows a sign of the power of Allah swt. From the astronomical perspective, an eclipse is considered a natural phenomenon destined by Allah swt. to show His majesty and greatness, which is not connected with certain myths or beliefs, as well as the time to carry out worship related to the eclipse as exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad. The implication of this research is that it is hoped that the public will be able to understand the eclipse well without associating this phenomenon with various beliefs or myths. And it is hoped that the attention of Falak experts will spread information and teaching about solar and lunar eclipses to the community in Sumbang Village widely.

Abstract

Abstract This research presents three problem formulations, namely: First, what is the urgency of prayer times and its changes in Islam? Second, what are the implications of the Earth's revolution on prayer times? Third, how is the analysis of changes in prayer times due to the Earth's revolution from the perspective of Kepler's 1st law and astronomy? This type of research is qualitative using descriptive analysis methods. The authors specifically use two approaches. An astronomical approach that is directly related to the phenomena of the universe, such as the planets and their movements, and the Sun. The syar'i approach is directly related to prayer times based on the Koran and Al Hadith. Data was obtained through library research by quoting and analyzing using content analysis on literature relevant to the problem being discussed, then reviewing and concluding. The results of this research show that: first, the urgency of prayer times and their changes in Islam emphasizes the importance of observance of worship times, awareness of possible time changes and readiness to adapt religious practices to the specified times. Second, the way the Earth evolves affects the time periods of day and night, which determine prayer times such as dawn and dusk. Variations in the distance between the Earth and the Sun in one revolution cause changes in prayer times throughout the day during the year. Third, a deep understanding of the principles of astronomy, including Kepler's law 1 and astronomy, is very important in determining prayer times in accordance with religious principles. This shows the importance of integration between science and religious knowledge in daily practice. The implication of this research is to explore Kepler's law 1 in determining changes in prayer times, including the position of the Earth and the Sun in daily worship practices throughout the year. It is important to pay attention to and observe some of the signs of His greatness, namely the Sun and the Earth, to know the beginning of prayer times.

Abstract

Abstract “This article discusses Manshur al Batawi's analysis of Hisab Rukyat in the Book of Sullam Nayyirain. Research on hisab rukyat the author refers to the thought of hisab rukyat Muhammad Manshur al-Batawi in the Sullamun Nayyirain Book, with the research approach used being the astronomical, syar'i approach, and the character approach in this case, Muhammad Manshur al-Batawi from the results of this research found that Muhammad Masnhur al-Batawi's reckoning thoughts are basically the thoughts of a network of scholars with Arab scholars including Syek Abdurrahman al-Misri, Mansur's teacher who received his first education directly from his parents who were scholars. Mas Manshur al-Batawi's ruyat reckoning thought uses Ptolemy's theory which has a geocentric principle, which according to scientific history has been superimposed by the heliocentric principle. So it is natural that the calculation results include the true reckoning of taqribi, to calculate the time of ijtima', solar eclipse and lunar eclipse. To calculate the beginning of the month of Kamariyah according to this book, start by calculating when ijtima' occurs. The technique for calculating the height of the new moon at sunset is by finding the difference between the sunset time and the ijtima' time that occurs before Ghurub, so that night the new moon has entered. The implication of this research is that every student of science should seek as much knowledge as possible, as was done by Muhammad Manshur al-Batawi who did not look at age in seeking knowledge, especially for those interested in astronomy, so that the knowledge gained can be a source of knowledge for us and those who are also interested in learning. learn from us. Like now, the work of Muhammad Manshur al-Batawi is a charity for him because many of his works are used as writing references.

Abstract

Abstract This research discusses women's participation in the Rukyat Hilal process to determine the start of the Hijriyah month in Makassar City. This research uses research (field research) using qualitative methods. The approach used by the author is a syar'i approach and a sociological approach. According to the data source, the data in this research is divided into two data, namely primary data and secondary data. Women's participation in the rukyat Hilal process in Makassar City shows a variety of views, with some opinions supporting women's participation without exception, while others highlight individual abilities and capacities rather than just gender. The public's perception of women's participation in the rukyat Hilal process in Makassar City shows an inclusive attitude towards gender roles in religious activities. The community sees women's participation as a positive step to broaden understanding about determining the start of the Hijriyah month, without being limited by gender factors. Supporting factors for women's participation in the Hilal rukyat process include a high level of education, increased gender awareness, women's leadership in religious communities, and an inclusive religious mindset. However, there are also inhibiting factors such as traditions and social norms, lack of awareness of women's rights, gender discrimination, and an imbalance of power between men and women in religious structures. The implication of this research is to further support women's participation in the rukyat Hilal process such as raising awareness and wider education on women's rights and the importance of gender inclusion in religious activities and supporting women's leadership development in religious communities by providing equal opportunities to participate in decision-making and important roles in the rukyat Hilal process.

Abstract

Abstract The main issue addressed in this study is how to identify the causes of errors in the initial determination of the Fajr (Subuh) prayer time and the role of tabayyun (verification) in minimizing such errors in Parang Tambung Subdistrict, Makassar City. The research method used is field research employing a descriptive qualitative model. The research approaches applied include the shar‘i (Islamic legal), astronomical, and phenomenological approaches. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation from local religious figures and mosque administrators, as well as secondary sources such as relevant literature and documents. The data were then analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research findings indicate that errors in determining the Fajr prayer time are caused by differences in calculation methods, particularly regarding the sun's depression angle, the lack of direct observation of the true dawn (fajr shadiq), and complete reliance on prayer time calendars without field verification. Tabayyun of the dawn plays a crucial role in correcting this issue through direct observation of the appearance of fajr shadiq. These findings suggest that the actual fajr shadiq observed in the field does not always align with the -20° standard used in calculation-based calendars. Therefore, the verification process through tabayyun is essential to ensure the accuracy of Fajr prayer time in accordance with Islamic teachings. The implication of this study is the importance of applying the principle of tabayyun as both a preventive and corrective measure in determining prayer times and as a reference for religious institutions in evaluating the current standards of Fajr prayer timing. Abstract

ABSTRACT Observation of the crescent moon is a crucial method in determining the beginning of the Hijri month. Along with the development of technology, the use of modern optical aids such as ioptron telescopes and CCD cameras has become a promising alternative to improve observation accuracy. The main problem in this study is how effective the use of ioptron telescopes and CCD cameras is in rukyatul hilal. The main problem is then formulated into several sub-problems or research questions, namely: what are the results of using ioptron telescopes with CCD cameras in rukyatul hilal, and what is the success rate of using ioptron telescopes and CCD cameras in rukyatul hilal. This study aims to examine and analyze the effectiveness of using modern technology in rukyatul hilal. This type of research is a type of field research while the nature of the data collected is quantitative descriptive with the research approaches used are: theological normative sharia, and astronomy. The data sources in this study are based on the results of observations and documentation analysis supported by document studies. Data processing and analysis techniques are carried out through three stages, namely: data collection, data processing, and data presentation. The results of the study show that first, the results of observations using a telescope combined with a CCD camera are able to record crescent images quite well in favorable weather conditions. Second, the use of telescopes and CCD cameras in rukyatul hilal quantitatively is relatively low, namely 21.4% of 28 observations that meet the criteria with a total of 41 observations from 2021 to 2024. The implications of this study are: 1) It is necessary to develop a more comprehensive crescent observation methodology. 2) An evaluation of the effectiveness of optical instruments in rukyatul hilal is needed.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The main issue in this study is the role of religious counselors in shaping the understanding of the community living at the foot of Mount Lompobattang in determining prayer times and the direction of the Qibla. This main issue is then elaborated into sub-questions, namely: How do religious counselors play a role in helping the community at the foot of Mount Lompobattang, Cikoro Sub-district, Gowa Regency, to understand how to determine prayer times and the direction of the Qibla? How does the community at the foot of Mount Lompobattang, Cikoro Sub-district, Gowa Regency, understand the determination of prayer times and the direction of the Qibla?. This study aims to understand the role of religious counselors in providing the community with knowledge about how to determine prayer times and the direction of the Qibla, and to examine how the community in Cikoro Subdistrict comprehends prayer times and the Qibla direction. The approach used in this research combines a normative theological (shar’i) and formal juridical approach, employing field research as the research type. Data collection methods include interviews, observation, and documentation. The data sources in this study are religious counselors and community members in Cikoro Subdistrict, Tompobulu District, Gowa Regency. The data processing techniques used in this research are data collection, data analysis, and data interpretation. The results of the study indicate that some people rely solely on applications or printed schedules without understanding the underlying principles, making them unable to verify independently. Moreover, there is a lack of regular programs or adequate learning media to convey falakiyah (astronomical) knowledge to the general public. This is due to the fact that religious counselors may not have fully maximized their educational role in conveying information about prayer times and qibla direction to the community. The implications of this research are the role and duties of religious counselors in providing understanding regarding the determination of prayer times and the direction of the Qibla are expected to enhance outreach and education for communities that still lack knowledge in these areas also through this written work, it is hoped that the public will gain a better understanding of and pay more attention to the correct procedures for performing prayers, including facing the Qibla properly and observing the correct prayer times.

Abstract

Abstract Hilal is an extraterrestrial phenomenon that is very important for humans, especially as a determinant of the calendar system in Islam. In practice, seeing the hilal is not something easy. There are several difficulties encountered such as the hilal which is far from the point of view, weak hilal light and interference from various natural conditions that occur. Along with the development of scientific technology, especially in phalac science, various thoughts have emerged to renew the way to see the hilal using technology, one of which is by using astrophotography techniques. In this study, it aims to determine the existence of astrophotography in the digital era, to determine the implementation of rukyatul hilal in the digital era and to determine the urgency of astrophotography to rukyatul hilal in the digital era.This research uses a type of library research with a descriptive qualitative approach, namely a problem formulation that guides research to explore or portray the social situation to be studied thoroughly. The data sources needed in this research are literature such as; books, journals and previous research, both in the form of primary and secondary sources.This study found that astrophotography plays an important role in the digital era as applied in rukyatul hilal observation. This is evidenced by several rukyat implementing institutions that have begun to use astrophotography techniques. The method of rukyatul hilal observation continues to develop. From seeing with the naked eye to using tools such as location wickets to the digital era now using photography tools that can help clarify and sharpen vision and can capture the observed hilal results. Therefore, the use of astrophotography in rukyatul hilal in the digital era is very necessary because it can help facilitate the observation process, especially in terms of clarifying the object of view and displaying facts realistically, objectively and scientifically so that it can be concluded that the role of astrophotography in rukyatul hilal is a breakthrough in modern technology and information science that can facilitate the implementation of rukyatul hilal because it can be scientifically accounted for with evidence of hilal sightings, so that elements and factors of error and error in the reports of rukyat witnesses can be overcome and can be convincing.

Abstract

Abtsract: This article contains the main problem being studied, namely how the length of the day and night affects prayer times in the Makassar region with 2 sub-problems, namely: What are the factors that cause variations in the length of the day and night in the Makassar region and What is the impact of the length of the day and night on prayer times in the Makassar region. This research uses library research. There are two approaches to this research, namely the syar'i approach because it examines Islamic law related to the arguments of the Koran and hadith and the astronomical approach because it discusses matters related to astronomy. Primary data sources in this research are books and secondary data sources were obtained from previous research. Data processing and data analysis techniques include: data identification, reduction, editing and conclusion. The results of this research show that variations in the length of day and night have a significant impact on prayer times in the Makassar area, through analysis of differences in the length of day and night on each day throughout the year, by taking a sample of prayer schedules throughout the time on the Muslim Pro application. The prayer times for each day throughout the year are not always the same, resulting in people being misled into carrying out the five daily prayers at different times than the actual times. The variation factors in the length of day and night or what underlies the length of day and night are the rotation and revolution of the earth. The implication of this research is that it is hoped that the government or religious leaders can expand the understanding of Muslims who still or do not understand at the beginning of each prayer time which changes every day and is not fixed at certain times, as well as ensuring that prayers are carried out on time. It is also hoped that students, especially sharia and law faculties and astronomy departments, can play an active role in providing knowledge to the public regarding prayer time schedules, in order to avoid praying prayers out of time.

Abstract

Abstrack This thesis discusses the comparison of criterion 29 with Imkan-Al Rukyat MABIMS in determining the beginning of the month. The formulation of the problem in the thesis is 1) How the concept of criterion 29 with Imkan al-rukyat MABIMS, 2) How does criterion 29 compare with Imkan al-rukyat MABIMS. This research uses library research in the sense of looking for articles, theses, journals, books that have a relationship with the title in the author. The approach used by the author is to use a shari'i approach and an astronomical approach. According to the data source, the data in this study is divided into two data, namely primary data and secondary data. The results of criterion 29 and the imkan al-rukyat MABIMS method have several similarities and differences. The similarities are orientation to hilal observation, hilal visibility criteria, observation methods, and linkage with the Hijri calendar. Both have a similar orientation to hilal observation by looking for early signs of the Hijri month through direct observation of the hilal, by establishing hilal visibility observation criteria that include factors such as the age of the moon, lunar elevation, lunar elongation angle, atmospheric conditions, and geographical position. This study is expected to help improve understanding of the comparison of criterion 29 and the method of imkan al-rukyat MABIMS in determining the beginning of the Hijri month. Similarly, it can add insight into the similarities and differences between the two criteria.
