Abstract

The objective of this research is to examine the implementation of summative assessment within the “Merdeka” Curriculum, specifically in Islamic Religious Education courses. The adoption of this curriculum is still relatively new in the education process, and many teachers have not yet achieved optimal success in applying it. Although this assessment closely resembles that of the previous curriculum, it requires alignment with learning indicators and individual student characteristics to accurately reflect learning objectives. This study employs a qualitative descriptive methodology, gathering data from library research. The primary reference for this research is the “Merdeka Belajar” curriculum strategy from the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia. Summative assessment refers to evaluations conducted at the end of an academic year or semester. For the successful implementation of summative assessment in Islamic Religious Education within the Merdeka Curriculum, this research identifies nine essential phases: (1) defining competencies; (2) selecting an assessment structure; (3) providing necessary assessment tools; (4) establishing an assessment scale; (5) scheduling assessments; (6) completing summative assessments on time; (7) processing assessment results; (8) providing feedback and reports; and (9) conducting an evaluation.

Abstract

This study aims to discuss the role of leadership and the capabilities of a leader in implementing marketing management roles in Islamic educational institutions. The emergence of new educational institutions has created phenomena in the education sector. The forms and approaches to education are becoming more diverse and complex. Traditional entities are developing existing educational institutions, non-educational businesses, and even educational providers from abroad. Objectively, society finds it increasingly challenging to choose educational institutions. Education management becomes crucial, where the growth and development of institutions are influenced by leadership's ability to recognize the external environment to create effective strategies to compete while maintaining the essence of education itself. The research method used is library research. The research findings indicate that effective marketing strategies for Islamic educational institutions include maximizing their resources, promoting Islamic values, and utilizing information technology in marketing. Additionally, Islamic educational institutions should consider the needs and profiles of prospective students and foster good relationships with the community and local partnerships. From this research, a leader who can act as a driving force within their institution will establish a distinct identity and attract Islamic education customers to their institution. Therefore, Islamic educational institutions must continually develop appropriate and effective marketing strategies while considering market developments and student needs.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of cognitivist learning theory in the subject of Islamic cultural history (Indonesian: Sejarah Kebudayaan Islam – SKI) at MAN 2 Sleman. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research type, namely a method that describes, describes, and explains the events that occur to the object being studied based on the situation and conditions when the research was conducted. Data collection techniques used in this study were interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the application of cognitive learning theory to SKI materials can train students to think critically, they will learn to understand examples and materials through the analysis, observations, and understanding they do, especially in understanding historical events in SKI subjects. In addition, the obstacles that SKI teachers may face in implementing cognitive learning in the independent curriculum are that it is difficult to identify students' interests and talents, because they are given freedom in learning. However, as a teacher, maximizing methods, techniques, and media is the main thing that must be considered so that learning objectives can be achieved.

Abstract

This study investigates the satisfaction levels of Grade 9 students at St. Paul University of Surigao regarding the performance of their student council. Recognizing the vital role that student leaders play in fostering a supportive educational environment, the research aims to assess key performance areas, including leadership skills, approachability, communication skills, and contributions to school activities. Utilizing a quantitative descriptive design, data were collected through a researcher-made questionnaire administered to a randomly selected sample of 134 students. The findings reveal that students express general satisfaction with their leaders (M=3.09, SD=0.61). Among the assessed variables, the highest satisfaction is noted in the area of contributions made by student leaders, which received a mean score of 3.20 (SD=0.57). This study highlights the importance of student councils as representative bodies that enhance student engagement and community involvement within educational institutions. By understanding student perceptions, the research provides valuable insights for current and future student leaders to improve their effectiveness and better meet the needs of their peers during the 2024-2025 academic year. Specifically, leaders may actively seek feedback from their peers through regular informal meetings or suggestion boxes, ensuring that all students feel comfortable voicing their concerns and ideas. Ultimately, fostering strong leadership within schools contributes to a more inclusive and enriching educational experience for all students.

Abstract

In this study, we explore how socioeconomic status (SES) is associated with engagement in online education among K-12 students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on data from the 2022 Programme of International Student Assessment, a regression analysis was used to examine the effect of household income, parental education and technology access on students’ online learning engagement. SES factors explain 48% of the variance in the dependent internet use variable, access to computer (β =0.42) and household income(β=0.55) are statistically significant predictors. Students from higher-SES families showed substantially greater engagement scores (mean = 5.4), than did students from lower-SES families (mean = 3.1, p <0.001). The study finds that reducing this digital divide is essential for mitigating educational inequalities and recommends targeted policy interventions such as affordable access to the internet, as well as increased parental support.
