Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Civic Education in instilling values of tolerance among university students in a religiously and regionally homogeneous environment. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach using observation and documentation methods, the research was conducted on the 2022 cohort of the Informatics Engineering Study Program at UKRI. The findings indicate that the Civic Education course effectively fosters tolerant attitudes through learning outcomes that emphasize appreciation of diversity, national integration, and democratic culture. Although challenges persist, such as the perception of the course as a formality and limited interactive learning methods, strategies like multicultural discussions and social simulations have proven effective in internalizing tolerance values. These findings highlight the importance of contextual and inclusive curriculum design and campus policies in creating a harmonious academic environment rooted in national character

Abstract

Water plays many important roles in various sectors of life. The concept of water security is a form of social security that can guarantee access to water for communities and individuals. Therefore, this study aims to review journals, articles, and scientific papers that discuss water resource management and conservation and their relationship to national awareness and security. The research was conducted using a literature review method with a narrative approach. The results of the study show that sustainable development requires the integration of water resource conservation and policies that support effective and equitable management. The concept of Smart Water Management (SWM) based on local wisdom can be used as a method of water resource management. One of the steps to achieve national resilience is by securing water resilience. The results of the evaluation of water resource conservation development show that the implementation of water resource conservation in Indonesia has not been running well.

Abstract

Intentionally ending one's life by suicide is often an inevitable occurrence in society. Social phenomena in society greatly influence a person's suicide, as happened to mother EN, who reflects behavior experiencing anomie, moral confusion, and a loss of social direction related to dramatic socioeconomic upheaval. Economic-socio-political powerlessness triggered the suicide due to disappointment with her husband, who was considered to be a constant liar and was in endless debt, thus making her feel exhausted from facing the stressful socioeconomic situation and taking shortcuts. Her personal actions are causal to social actions against her two children, her husband, and part of the collectivity of society influenced by social relations that have been based on tradition as a norm of shared life, then changing rapidly due to various influencing factors. This new condition exceeds EN's capabilities, causing her to become frustrated without a normative solution as a binding force. Collective awareness that prioritizes togetherness amidst diversity needs to be created and maintained due to the fading social relations, identity conflicts, social inequality, and changing values ​​that threaten social solidarity. That is the purpose of this paper using a sociological approach with a qualitative explanatory method to understand the reality faced by EN as an individual and social being. Threats to social solidarity and social cohesion are challenges that must be faced together in managing diversity and individual differences that have moral values/norms within the bonds of solidarity and social action that are inclusive, just, and interdependent, while simultaneously maintaining and building a strong community unity as a representation of socio-political change in preventing the tragedy of the loss of our own human civilization.

Abstract

Highways are among the worst communication environments. Various incidents that indicate communication failure always occur. Highways are indeed not designed as communication spaces, but communication symbols are scattered. It takes understanding and a mature attitude from communicators and communicants because they communicate more predominantly using nonverbal communication. The goal is to understand the symbols that appear through vehicles. However, communication will turn bad when the other party misinterprets the symbol. Egotistical-subjective assumptions arise that provoke emotions until physical fights inevitably occur. In this regard, this study aims to determine the factors that change the perception of road users to cause communication failure. Using qualitative methods with descriptive analysis types to reveal the facts that occur. The results of the study indicate that negative communication occurs because the ability to control road users is loose and unable to avoid it when brought to an emotional atmosphere. Meanwhile, negative communication in the form of curses or dirty words is included in the vocabulary of words in the emotional mental scope.

Abstract

Realizing welfare as the ultimate goal of the state still requires a long struggle. The collective experience of the nation in manifesting welfare has been marked by various events that led to deviations from national ideals. Fundamental disruptions have occurred, each with broad and profound impacts. The emergence of foreign agents seeking to blur and alter the nation’s ideology and aspirations, the formalization of Pancasila, authoritarian leadership that tended to align with the axis of certain states, the rise of oligarchy, and political streams that diverted the nation’s struggle to achieve the ideal of welfare, all became part of these challenges. These events represent episodes in the nation’s journey to uphold Indonesia as an independent, strong, and prosperous nation. Based on these considerations, this study aims to examine the practice of national communication in the effort to achieve a welfare state. The method used in this research is qualitative, emphasizing data analysis drawn from media sources and other documents. The findings show that national communication can serve as an essential aspect in building commitment toward realizing the ideals of a welfare state

Abstract

The availability of sawdust as a growing medium for oyster mushrooms is becoming increasingly limited, thus alternative raw materials are needed. Rice straw, as an abundant agricultural waste, has potential for use, but requires chopping to an ideal size of 2–5 mm. This research designed and built a rice straw chopper with a 1 HP electric motor drive and a pulley-belt transmission system. The research methods included observations of mushroom farmers, literature studies, design planning, technical calculations (torque, power, capacity), prototype fabrication, and performance testing. The test results show that the machine's production capacity reaches 2.78–3.24 kg/hour with efficiency between 94–97% depending on the number of blades. The machine operates stably, produces cuts according to standards, and is easy to operate. These findings provide a practical solution for mushroom farmers in utilizing straw waste as an economically valuable growing medium.

Abstract

This research aims to design and build a used oil-fueled stove equipped with a steam boiler furnace,which can utilize heat energy to produce steam. The metode use combustion parameters were also analyzed to assess efficiency, flame stability, and emission characteristics. The research results are expected to provide environmentally friendly technological solutions while utilizing waste as a renewable energy source,reducing dependence on fossil fuels, and raising awareness of the importance of sustainable waste management.

Abstract

The development of information technology has brought significant changes to the dynamics of this nation’s life. Its utilization can transform societal habits, as it not only increases efficiency within work frameworks but also demands the application of professional ethics through more advanced computational linguistics in a digital society. This research aims to analyze the role of information technology in supporting the implementation of professional ethics and to identify the challenges and opportunities arising from the integration of technology in professional practices using computational linguistics. The methods used include literature studies, document analysis, and case reviews related to professional ethics in the digital era. The findings show that information technology contributes to strengthening ethical values such as transparency, accountability, and information openness. However, technology also presents risks, including privacy violations, data misuse, and decreased professional integrity if not accompanied by adequate supervision and digital literacy. These findings affirm that the implementation of professional ethics must progress in tandem with technological development through clear regulations, increased ethical awareness, and secure digital infrastructure support. Overall, this study emphasizes the importance of synergy between information technology and professional ethics to create a work environment that upholds integrity and earns public trust.
