Social media such as Instagram has been a tool to facilitate subjective interests of its users, either individually or collectively. Furthermore, Instagram is an effective campaign and advocacy tool for issues like disability and inclusiveness. The respondents in this study were two actors with disabilities, while the informants were four individuals from the Banjarbilitas group that care about disabilities. Data analysis was carried out using the Social Model of Disability. The discoveries of this study lead to two main points. Firstly, Instagram as a new social media, has transformed into an important networking platform, which provides opportunities for the disabled to advocate and negotiate their existence and that of their groups in relation to equality in society. Secondly, it has provided them with basic access to job vacancies, freedom to express themselves, connect with other individuals and share information and most significantly the opportunity to facilitate both their personal and group interest in order to increase their prosperity and accessibility progressively and comprehensively.

Abstract

Da'wa communication skills are needed in preaching to the converts community because the conditions of converts are different from those of Muslims in general. The success of this da'wa can be achieved if converts as the target of preaching carry out the da'wa message conveyed by the preacher. The research objective was to map the preachers' da'wa communication skills to the converts in Karomba, Pinrang district. This study used a qualitative approach and case study methods, so the primary data were in-depth interviews and observations. In addition, this study uses inductive data analysis. The study results indicate that the preachers apply three da'wa communication skills to the converted Muslim community to support da'wa's success. First, the skills to produce messages, especially messages of faith and morals. Second, the skills to receive and convey messages, mainly using local languages. Third, the skills to interact with the converts community through sharia consultation activities. This research is necessary because the findings of this study can serve as a guide for preachers to increase preaching success, especially preaching to converts.

A prior observation indicated different portrayals of male and female convicts in caning execution news on five local online media in Aceh from 2018 until 2020. This study focuses on the emerging discourse surrounded female convicts. The study aims to discover the reality concerning context, production, text consumption, and social-cultural aspects influencing the discourse production within the text. This qualitative-descriptive study analyzed data from fifteen caning execution news, in-depth interviews with seven journalists, two editors, and one member of the Alliance of Independent Journalist  Banda Aceh chapter (Aliansi Jurnalis Independen/AJI Banda Aceh). This study utilized Norman Fairclough’s critical discourse analysis as the data analysis method. The findings revealed that the female convicts dominated news about caning, especially in khalwat and ikhtilat cases. Female convicts were represented as figures who violated social and moral norms, gender stereotypes, and expectations of femininity. This discourse benefited news organizations economically and also promoted discrimination against female convicts.

This study aimed to describe adolescents' experiences in personal branding through Instagram and the meaning of personal branding. Data were analyzed using thematic phenomenological analysis techniques to understand the themes and patterns of personal branding. Data were collected using interviews and observation methods. Five participants were obtained through purposive sampling technique with criteria: adolescents aged 18-21 years and active Instagram users (with a consistent content theme). Results show that the personal branding process is built through stages that involve determining goals, conceptualizing content, and posting content. It is essential to concept and edit content uniquely and posts consistently at the right time and the right frequency, including the highlight menu setting. Personal branding has significant and strategic meanings for adolescents: as a medium to promote competencies, expand career opportunities, and be a useful person. Essentially, it is recommended for adolescents to do personal branding as an alternative activity that supports self-development and careers using Instagram.

A moderate attitude is shown by neutrality that is not extreme right and extreme left on the choice of religious schools of thought. PITI places people in the center of society's varieties. than their female counterparts due to the heavy fieldwork and irregular working hours. Determining whether this assumption remains relevant, this study maps the proportion of female and male journalists in ten Indonesian mass media organizations while also exploring the factors that contribute to the condition. This research applies quantitative and qualitative mixed methods, involving journalists in 10 media (n = 811) at both the reporter and managerial levels, and a focused-group discussion (FGD) with 14 female editors. At the reporter level, there are 64% male and 36% female journalists. At the managerial level, the figures change to 77% (men) and 23% (women). The three factors that hinder the career of female journalists are a double burden (career and household), mental barriers, and ‘masculine’ office politics.

Abstract

The presence of the internet as a marker of the emergence of new media cannot be denied, raising the concept of digital religion as an important element in the presentation of religion at the level of the digital world landscape. In Indonesia, the encounter of Muslim women with the internet has presented religious narratives within the scope of the online world, not least in terms of discourse on gender issues. Using the netnographic method and supported by content analysis, this paper attempts to research and analyze two websites, specifically muslimahnews.com and muslimah.or.id. The findings indicate that the two websites, which contain discourses on women's piety and gender bias, demonstrate that gender inequality on the internet is not directly caused by a lack of women participation but rather by a strong interpretation of gender-biased Islamic ideology in the real world, which is reflected in the virtual world. In other words, the existence of gender bias in Muslim women's websites in Indonesia is a matter of using technology. It is also caused by the construction of gender-biased religious ideology, which previously existed in the offline landscape.
