Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the appeal of the Air Putri Waiyoho tourist attraction and visitors' perceptions of Air Putri Waiyoho in Kawa Village, West Seram Regency. This research uses a survey method to assess the viability of the tourist attraction's potential, based on criteria from the Guidelines for Operational Area Analysis of Nature Tourism Attractions (ADO-ODTWA) by the Directorate General of Forest Protection and Nature Conservation (PHKA) in 2003, and qualitative descriptive analysis to understand visitor perceptions, with a sample of 77 visitor respondents interviewed. The main attraction at Air Putri Waiyoho is the fresh water spring in a bathing pool with clear, bright water surrounded by lush trees, enhancing the appeal for tourism activities. Based on the Tourism Feasibility Index analysis, the attraction criteria score 80.95%, accessibility criteria score 72.2%, and visitor facilities and infrastructure criteria score 66.6%. Thus, the feasibility analysis places Air Putri Waiyoho as a high-category tourist attraction. Visitor perceptions indicate a 100% attraction appeal, available facilities at 90.91%, and accessibility with 48% noting ease of transportation and reachability.

Abstract

This study examines the cultural characteristics of communities living around the Sirimau Protected Forest and their impact on sustainable forest management. The surrounding indigenous communities hold a deeply rooted cultural system that includes language, knowledge systems, social organization, technology, livelihoods, and religious beliefs, all of which influence their approach to natural resource management. One of the core elements is local ecological knowledge—an understanding of the forest’s ecosystem, flora, fauna, and geography that has been passed down through generations. Key social structures, such as the roles of local leaders (raja), community councils (saniri), and forest guardians (kewang), play a significant role in ecological stewardship through customary regulations, including the sasi tradition, which restricts forest use during specific periods to prevent overexploitation. The research emphasizes the importance of involving indigenous communities in forest management decision-making processes, which not only supports ecosystem sustainability but also preserves the cultural identity and values of these communities. Findings from this study advocate for community-based forest management approaches that integrate social, economic, and cultural aspects to achieve optimal environmental sustainability.

Abstract

This purpose of this research is to litter size and mortality of pig farming from different parity sows at the integrated waste management installation site in Ambon City. The research method which is conducted is survey method by doing census technique. Variabels that observed are variable treatment in each respons: a) litter size and b) pre-weaning piglet mortality. The results showed that the parity of different parents had no significant effect on litter size. This indicates that the parity factor does not play an important role in influencing the size of the litter born in the population studied. Piglet mortality rates also showed no significant difference among the parity groups. Thus, the parity of sows in this population had no effect on the survival rate of pre-weaning piglets.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the structure and composition of the natural forest vegetation of Negeri Amahusu, Nusaniwe District, Ambon City. The sampling method used in this study is a combination of the grid line method and the path method to study the composition and structure of vegetation at the research location. In this study, 5 (five) observation paths were made, each path consisting of 5 plots with a size of 20 x 20 m for the tree level so that the observation path measures 20 x 100 m. While the sample plots for the pole level were made 10 x 10 m, the sapling level 5 x 5 m, and the seedling level 2 x 2 m. The results of the study showed that the Amahusu natural forest consists of 4 Stratifications (Strata A, B, D, and E) dominated by stratum B, where the height of stratum A trees ranges from 20-25 m while stratum B ranges from 8-19 m with dominant species including: Durian (Durio zibethinus), Canary (Canarium commune), and Linggua (Pterocarpus indicus). The composition of Amahusu forest species at the seedling level consists of 18 species, 20 species of saplings, 15 species of poles and 15 species of trees. The species diversity index is included in the medium category with an H' value at the seedling level of 1.148, saplings 1.174, poles 1.018 and trees 1.072.
