Abstract

This study aimed to identify and analyze the potential of local cuisine as a cultural tourism attraction in Sawahlunto City, West Sumatra. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed to obtain an in-depth understanding of the contribution of traditional culinary products to tourism development. Data were collected through field observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving tourists, culinary business owners, local communities, and representatives from the Sawahlunto Tourism Office. The data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that four traditional culinary products, namely Kerupuk Kubang, Lamang Tungkek, Dendeng Batokok, and Ale-ale Apam, possess distinctive ingredients, traditional preparation methods, and cultural values that enhance their attractiveness as tourism assets. These culinary products enrich visitors' experiences, strengthen the cultural identity of Sawahlunto, and contribute to destination competitiveness. However, their tourism potential has not been fully optimized due to limited promotion and stakeholder collaboration. Strengthening partnerships among government institutions, local communities, and culinary entrepreneurs, supported by digital marketing strategies, is essential for promoting sustainable culinary tourism while preserving local cultural heritage.

Abstract

The Human Excretory System is an abstract, microscopic topic that often causes student misconceptions. This R&D study, using the ADDIE model, developed an Audio-Comic Video integrated with Marker-Based Augmented Reality (AR), using Assemblr 3D assets to interactively visualize excretory organs. The subjects were eleventh-grade students at SMAS Muhammadiyah Jayapura. Validation results showed the medium was very valid according to the material expert (92.22%) and valid according to the media expert (81.25%). Practicality tests with students (93.57%) and teachers (88.57%) fell into the very practical category. The effectiveness test on 35 students showed scores increasing from 50.02 (pretest) to 84.07 (posttest), with an N-Gain of 0.626 (medium category) and a significant difference (Sig. 2-tailed = 0.000). The medium proved feasible and effective as an alternative biology learning medium accommodating visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles.

Abstract

Solid geometry learning in elementary schools remains challenging because its abstract nature makes three-dimensional objects difficult to visualize. This study examined the effect of GeoGebra-Interactive Flat Panel (GeoGebra-IFP) integration on solid geometry learning outcomes, with Student Engagement as a mediating variable. A quantitative one-group pretest-posttest design involved 41 fifth-grade students. Data were collected through a UTAUT2-based GeoGebra-IFP integration questionnaire, a Student Engagement questionnaire covering behavioral, emotional, cognitive, and agentic engagement, a learning achievement test, and classroom implementation observation sheets. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, assumption tests, and path-analysis-based mediation with bootstrapping. The results showed that GeoGebra-IFP integration positively affected learning outcomes and Student Engagement. Student Engagement also positively affected learning outcomes and significantly mediated the relationship between GeoGebra-IFP integration and solid geometry learning outcomes. These findings indicate that interactive learning technology improves achievement both directly and indirectly by strengthening students’ engagement during instruction. Therefore, GeoGebra-IFP can be considered an innovative instructional medium for improving the quality of solid geometry learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study examined the partial and simultaneous statistical effects of digital literacy and responsible generative artificial intelligence utilization on vocational students’ academic writing skills. A quantitative explanatory-correlational approach with a cross-sectional survey design was employed. The sample comprised 100 students from five vocational study programs selected through proportionate stratified random sampling. Data were collected using two 10-item Likert questionnaires measuring digital literacy and generative artificial intelligence utilization, together with a source-based academic essay performance test assessed using an analytic rubric. Pearson correlation and multiple linear regression were applied. Digital literacy had a positive and significant statistical effect on academic writing skills (B = 6.413; β = 0.334; p < 0.001). Generative artificial intelligence utilization also had a positive and significant effect and provided a stronger relative contribution (B = 9.097; β = 0.494; p < 0.001). Simultaneously, both predictors produced F(2,97) = 42.013; p < 0.001 and explained 46.4% of the variance. These findings indicated that vocational students’ academic writing development required the integration of digital literacy and critical, ethical, and responsible artificial intelligence practices in writing instruction and institutional policy.

Abstract

Uncontrolled gadget use in children can lead to addiction, characterized by difficulty limiting screen time and impaired learning or social activities. This study analyzes the implementation of behavioral counseling in reducing gadget addiction through a narrative literature review. Findings indicate that gadget addiction is a learned behavior maintained by pleasurable reinforcement. Behavioral counseling reduces this behavior by identifying antecedent-behavior-consequence patterns, monitoring usage, establishing behavioral contracts, applying positive reinforcement, controlling stimuli, and developing alternative activities. Intervention effectiveness is strengthened when parents and teachers consistently enforce rules and model healthy technology use. Ultimately, behavioral counseling aims to establish controlled, functional, and developmentally appropriate digital habits.

Abstract

Short-video platforms have become an important part of young people's media consumption, raising interest in their potential as learning tools. This study explores the challenges and opportunities of using TikTok as a learning medium at SMK Yuppentek 2, a vocational high school in Tangerang, Indonesia, using a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with ten informants, supported by observation and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model with source and method triangulation. The findings show that students mainly perceive TikTok as an entertainment platform. The main challenges include algorithm-driven distractions, limited depth of short-form content, unequal internet access, and the lack of systematic classroom integration. Despite these limitations, TikTok supports vocational skill demonstrations, self-directed learning, creativity, digital literacy, and school promotion. Viewed through the distinction between gratifications sought and gratifications obtained, the findings indicate that TikTok's educational value depends on its ability to meet students' learning motivations and expectations. Therefore, TikTok has the potential to serve as a complementary learning medium in vocational education when supported by appropriate instructional strategies.
