Abstract

This study addresses the limited use of contextual and participatory learning models in Islamic boarding schools for fostering students’ disciplinary character. In many pesantren, discipline is still shaped mainly through rules and sanctions, while learning activities have not been systematically designed to internalize Pancasila values and build intrinsic awareness. This study aimed to develop and test the effectiveness of a Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) learning model based on Pancasila values for strengthening the disciplinary character of santri at Pondok Pesantren Ar-Rahmaniyyah Sukabumi. The study employed a research and development design consisting of preliminary study, product design, expert validation, limited trial, revision, and field testing. Data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and pretest-posttest instruments. The findings show that the developed module was categorized as very valid, practical, and effective. Expert validation reached a mean score of 4.3, while students’ responses indicated high practicality. The average score increased from 63.44 in the pretest to 80.31 in the posttest. The model was more effective in strengthening disciplinary awareness than in changing rule-compliance behavior, which requires longer habituation. These findings suggest that integrating STAD, Pancasila values, and pesantren discipline can provide a practical model for character education in Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

This study addresses the limited availability of practical and contextual learning resources for mothers in Islamic nonformal education settings to foster moral and religious ethics in early childhood. Although majelis taklim has strong potential as a community-based educational space, its role in supporting family-based moral education is often not accompanied by structured pedagogical guidance. This research aims to develop a community-based moral education module for early childhood in Majelis Taklim Ar-Rahmaniyyah, Sukabumi. The study employed a research and development design consisting of three stages: preliminary study, product development, and product testing and finalization. Data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The product was validated by material and media experts, followed by a limited trial with 10 participants and a field trial with 20 participants using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The findings show that the module is valid, practical, and effective. It improved mothers’ ability to guide children’s moral and religious behavior through habituation, modeling, dialogue, and reinforcement. The study contributes to the literature by demonstrating that community-based Islamic nonformal education can strengthen family moral education when supported by a contextual and operational module.

Abstract

Preserving the Qur'an through tahfidz learning requires a structured system to ensure memorization quality and character development. However, previous studies have focused on memorization outcomes rather than examining the implementation process comprehensively. This study aims to analyze the implementation of Tahfidz Al-Qur'an learning and identify its supporting factors at Pondok Pesantren Wahdatut Tauhid, Kabupaten Bandung. A descriptive quantitative method was employed, involving four instructors and thirty students. Data were collected through structured observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using percentage-based descriptive analysis. The findings indicate that the implementation is categorized as very good, achieving 85.20% within the 81-100% range. The effectiveness is supported by students' learning motivation, instructor competence, a structured memorization system, a conducive boarding school environment, and adequate facilities. These findings confirm that the success of tahfidz is determined by systemic interaction between internal and external factors, not by a single factor. This study provides empirical evidence on institutional-based tahfidz learning implementation and identifies key supporting factors for improving tahfidz program management in Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

Madrasah strategic planning often lacks systematic external environmental scanning, causing disconnection from operational documents. This study addresses this gap by analyzing external factors at MTsN 2 Kota Bandung using the PESTLE framework and developing an integrated PESTLE–SWOT model operationalized into the Madrasah Work Plan (RKM). A qualitative approach with a single holistic case study design was employed. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with six key informants selected purposively, focused observations, and document analysis, then processed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive analysis. Findings indicate that the Merdeka Curriculum is the dominant political factor reshaping policy orientation; technological disruption drives digitalization amid infrastructure limitations; and socio-economic changes push program diversification and hybrid financing. The key contribution is an operational model integrating PESTLE–SWOT into an RKM program matrix with objectives, indicators, responsible parties, and financing schemes a replicable evidence-based planning prototype. This model strengthens governance, external collaboration, and technological infrastructure.

Abstract

Digital transformation has become a strategic agenda in Islamic education management, particularly in Islamic religious universities facing technological adaptation challenges. This study analyzes digital innovation in Islamic education planning, focusing on how the integration of Academic Information Systems (SIMAK) and synchronous learning platforms such as Zoom and Google Meet enhances access, coordination, and learning effectiveness. The research adopts a qualitative case study approach, using in-depth interviews with institutional leaders, lecturers, and students, complemented by academic planning document reviews. The study contributes a conceptual model of digital planning in Islamic education, identifying key barriers such as access issues and digital competency gaps, and offers strategic recommendations for institutions to improve digital education governance. Findings reveal that SIMAK serves as the backbone of academic administration and scheduling, while Zoom and Google Meet support synchronous learning. However, uneven internet access and varying digital competence among lecturers remain significant obstacles. The proposed model integrates technology with Islamic values to create adaptive, just, and sustainable digital governance in Islamic higher education.

Abstract

This study examines how adaptive leadership shapes the implementation of the Principal Performance Appraisal in public madrasahs as a mechanism for improving educational quality. It addresses the gap between the formal policy design of the appraisal system and its practical enactment at the school level. A qualitative approach with a descriptive case study design was employed. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, field observations, and document analysis involving selected principals of public madrasahs in Sukabumi Regency. The data were analyzed thematically using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, supported by source triangulation and data verification. The findings show that adaptive leadership enables principals to translate policy demands into context-sensitive school practices, manage resistance to change, and foster collaborative quality improvement. Principals who exercised adaptive leadership promoted teacher participation, strengthened internal coordination, and developed locally grounded strategies for quality assurance. These findings indicate that adaptive leadership is crucial for bridging national policy expectations and institutional realities in madrasahs. This study contributes to the literature by offering a contextual model of Islamic educational leadership that is practical, responsive, and relevant to quality improvement in public madrasahs.

Abstract

Gender equity in education is not merely determined by policies but by how they are translated into classroom practices. Gender-responsive lesson planning is a strategic policy instrument for fostering equitable and inclusive learning in madrasah education. This study aims to analyze the implementation of gender-responsive lesson planning, the practice of gender equity in classroom learning, and the relationship between both. A quantitative approach with a correlational design was employed. Data were collected through standardized questionnaires administered to teachers and students, then analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. The findings indicate that the implementation of gender-responsive lesson planning is at a high level, while gender equity practices are consistently applied. Correlational analysis reveals a strong and significant positive relationship between the quality of lesson planning and the realization of gender equity in classroom practices (r = 0.78, p < 0.05). These results suggest that well-designed, gender-responsive lesson planning plays a crucial role in promoting educational equity. The study implies that strengthening policy-oriented lesson planning, supported by institutional commitment and continuous teacher capacity development, is essential for creating inclusive and gender-equitable learning environments in madrasah education

Abstract

This study analyses the implementation of a pesantren-based curriculum in non-boarding madrasahs, which still face challenges in fostering religious character due to the lack of a boarding system. The study aims to formulate an adaptive curriculum implementation model for this context through a qualitative approach using a case study design at Madrasah Aliyah Al-Inayah in Bandung. Data were collected from students and teachers via questionnaires (n?54 respondents), in-depth interviews with the deputy head of the madrasah responsible for the curriculum, and limited observation, and were subsequently analysed using a thematic approach. The research findings indicate that curriculum implementation occurs through four main components: the integration of values into the learning process, the cultivation of religious practices, the exemplary behaviour demonstrated by teachers, and cooperation between the school and the family. These four components were identified as a single system forming a model for the implementation of an integrative-collaborative pesantren curriculum, with the ‘One Day One Student’ programme serving as a mechanism for reinforcement outside the school environment. This study produced a contextual, values-based curriculum implementation model for non-boarding madrasahs.

Abstract

This study analyzes the effectiveness of strategic planning of Islamic education at MTs Negeri 6 Cianjur in strengthening the quality of the program, taking into account the challenges of coordination and stakeholder participation. Although many studies have examined strategic planning in madrasas, gaps in this literature lie in the lack of integration of Islamic values, data, and participation in evidence-based planning models. To fill this gap, this study developed an integrated planning framework that integrates Islamic values, stakeholder participation, and data-driven reflection to improve the effectiveness of madrasah planning. Through a two-month qualitative case study approach, data was obtained from interviews, observations, and document analysis. The results of the study show that although planning already reflects Islamic values such as shura, amanah, and ihsan, it is not fully data-based and participatory. This research provides a theoretical contribution through the development of the Integrated Islamic Educational Planning Framework (IIEPF) which can be a practical reference for madrasas in strengthening more participatory, data-driven, and sustainable planning governance

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology requires Islamic educational institutions, including pesantren, to adapt without neglecting Islamic values and educational objectives. This study aims to analyze the management of Islamic digital literacy planning, its implementation in developing students’ 21st-century skills, and the supporting and inhibiting factors at Pesantren Al-Musyarrofah Warungkondang Cianjur. This study employed a quantitative descriptive approach involving 30 respondents, consisting of pesantren leaders, teachers, and students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics, including mean scores and percentages. The results indicate that Islamic digital literacy planning falls within the good to very good category, particularly in leadership involvement, clarity of vision, and integration of values such as adab, digital ethics, and tabayyun. This planning contributes to the development of 21st-century skills, especially critical thinking and communication (very good) as well as creativity and collaboration (good). These findings confirm that Islamic digital literacy planning functions as a normative–transformative approach integrating technology with character formation.
