Abstract

This article aims to examine in depth how Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning supervision can be designed and implemented to facilitate students' curiosity and independence at the secondary school level. This study uses a library research approach by examining various relevant scientific literature from accredited national journals and international academic repositories. The results of the study show that a reflective, participatory, and transformative supervision approach is able to create a learning environment that supports students' curiosity and independence. Successful supervisory practices include collaboration between teachers and principals, the use of formative feedback, and the development of problem- and project-based learning tools. The implications of this study show the need for academic supervision training that prioritizes active learning, as well as the development of supervision indicators that include the cognitive and affective dimensions of students, especially in the context of PAI learning.

Abstract

This article examines the existence of 'urf (custom) as a source of Islamic law within the framework of the four major legal schools (madzhab), namely Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi'i, and Hanbali, and its application to local traditions in Indramayu, West Java. Using a comparative qualitative methodology with a library research approach, this study analyzes the epistemological foundations, scope, and conditions for the acceptance of 'urf in each madzhab and then contextualizes those criteria against selected Indramayu traditions, including ngunjung (ancestral grave visitation), sedekah bumi (earth almsgiving ceremony), ngarot (pre-harvest youth ritual), mapag sri (rice-welcoming procession), and tahlilan (communal Quranic recitation for the deceased). The findings reveal that while each madzhab differs in the weight and conditions attributed to 'urf, all four schools fundamentally recognize valid custom as a legitimate auxiliary source of law. Maliki and Hanafi traditions grant 'urf the broadest operative role, whereas Shafi'i and Hanbali schools impose stricter conditions. When applied to Indramayu traditions, most practices are classifiable as 'urf shahih (valid custom) after appropriate purification of syncretic elements, making them legally permissible within a maqashid al-shari'ah framework.

Abstract

School dropouts are a complex and multidimensional educational problem, especially in marginalized areas such as Indramayu Regency, West Java. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of growth mindset-based educational psychology interventions in reducing school dropout rates in marginalized communities in Indramayu. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with in-depth interview techniques, participatory observation, and documentation studies, this study involved 30 informants consisting of students who are vulnerable to dropping out of school, parents, teachers, and community leaders. The results of the study showed that growth mindset interventions carried out through Islamic-based counseling guidance programs, teacher training, and community involvement were significantly able to change the mindset of students from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset. This change has an impact on increasing learning motivation, resilience in the face of economic difficulties, and a 23% reduction in school dropout rates in one year of the program. These findings reinforce the urgency of integrating educational psychology approaches in Islamic education policies that favor marginalized communities.

Abstract

This study examines the construction of child education in the perspective of QS. At-Tahrim verse 6 and compares it with the realities of family education practices in the coastal community of Indramayu Regency, West Java. The research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive-comparative method. Data were collected through field observation, in-depth interviews with families in the coastal villages of Indramayu, and literature review of classical and contemporary Quranic commentaries. The findings indicate that QS. At-Tahrim verse 6 emphasizes the obligation of parents to protect their family from hellfire through faith-based education, moral cultivation, and religious habituation. However, field data reveal that coastal families in Indramayu tend to prioritize economic fulfillment over formal religious education due to the dominant maritime livelihood culture. This research highlights the urgency of contextualizing Quranic values within local socio-cultural settings, particularly in strengthening the role of the family as the first educational institution. Educational implications and recommendations for Islamic education programs in coastal communities are discussed.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the Offline–Digital Preparedness strategy in improving the quality of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning in madrasahs with limited infrastructure. A qualitative case study was conducted at MTs Jauhratul Islamiyah, involving the madrasah principal, PAI teachers, and a digital media management team as informants. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings suggest that the integration of digital media through structured stages of planning (content curation), implementation (interactive multimedia), and evaluation (gamification) supports students’ engagement, focus, and understanding. The study indicates that the effectiveness of learning is shaped more by teachers’ adaptive pedagogical strategies than by the availability of technology. This study contributes by proposing the Offline–Digital Preparedness strategy as an adaptive pedagogical framework that integrates digital media with offline learning readiness in resource-constrained contexts. However, as this study is limited to a single case and relies on qualitative data, the findings are context-specific and do not provide measurable evidence of learning outcomes. Future research is recommended to expand the context and employ mixed-method approaches to further examine the effectiveness of this strategy.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of religious culture-based Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning in shaping early childhood character at PAUD Al-Ishlah Kuala Jambi. A qualitative case study approach was employed to explore learning practices, value internalization, and influencing factors within a natural educational setting. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews with teachers and school administrators, and document analysis, and were analyzed using an interactive model involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that PAI learning is implemented through an integrative pattern combining structured instruction, religious habituation, and a supportive learning environment. This approach is associated with the development of children’s social and moral character, particularly in cooperation, empathy, and prosocial behavior, while emotional regulation appears to develop more gradually and requires additional support. The study also shows that the effectiveness of character formation is closely related to the consistency of value integration across daily activities rather than isolated instructional practices. These findings contribute to the understanding of religious culture-based PAI learning as an integrative and contextual approach, offering both conceptual and practical insights for developing more sustainable character education models in early childhood education.

Abstract

The development of Qur’anic literacy in Islamic elementary education plays a crucial role in shaping students’ religious competence and character. However, existing studies on Baca Tulis Al-Qur’an (BTQ) programs predominantly emphasize instructional methods and technical skill improvement, while limited attention has been given to how program governance integrates religious habituation in forming graduate profiles. This gap indicates a discrepancy between the intended outcomes of Islamic education and the managerial practices implemented in schools. This study aims to analyze the governance of BTQ programs based on the integration of religious habituation in shaping the graduate profile of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. The study employs a qualitative case study approach conducted at MI Al-Ishlah Kuala Jambi, involving teachers, school administrators, and students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the interactive model of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that effective BTQ program governance is achieved through the integration of structured planning, routine implementation embedded in daily religious practices, and continuous, although not fully standardized, evaluation. This integration fosters not only students’ Qur’anic literacy skills but also strengthens their religious character and discipline. The study concludes that the success of BTQ programs lies in the alignment between managerial processes and religious habituation, resulting in a holistic graduate profile. Strengthening evaluation systems and expanding family involvement are recommended to enhance program sustainability and impact.

Abstract

Learning to read the Qur’an constitutes a fundamental foundation in Islamic education, as it is directly related to the understanding of religious teachings, the accuracy of worship practices, and the formation of students’ religious character. This study aims to analyze the role of teachers in the implementation of the Yanbu’a method in improving students’ Qur’anic reading ability at Pondok Pesantren Barokatul Ishlah. This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design, involving one Qur’anic teacher, eight students, and three pesantren caregivers as informants. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The findings indicate that the teacher’s role is both integral and determinant, encompassing functions as planner, recitation model (talaqqi), individual mentor, motivator, and evaluator, all of which are integrated within an adaptive instructional system. The practices of talaqqi and muroja’ah were found to be the primary mechanisms in improving students’ fluency and accuracy in Qur’anic reading, despite challenges such as varying student abilities, limited instructional time, and teacher–student ratio constraintsTh. is study concludes that the effectiveness of the Yanbu’a method does not operate independently, but is highly dependent on the teacher’s pedagogical capacity to manage learning contextually. Therefore, strengthening teacher competence is essential for improving the quality of Qur’anic learning in pesantren settings.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze strategies for improving the quality of Islamic education in the teaching of Al-Qur’an Hadith at MTs Al-Ishlah, Tanjung Jabung Timur. In the context of globalization, Qur’an-Hadith learning faces challenges related to low student engagement, limited contextual understanding, and the persistence of conventional teaching approaches. However, previous studies have not sufficiently explored integrative and context-based quality improvement strategies in rural madrasah settings, particularly those combining managerial and pedagogical dimensions. This study employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The findings reveal that quality improvement strategies are implemented systematically through three interconnected stages: participatory planning involving institutional stakeholders, active and contextualized learning practices integrating religious habituation, and comprehensive evaluation combining cognitive, affective, and behavioral assessments. These strategies are supported by strong institutional commitment, teacher collaboration, and the development of a consistent religious culture. This study contributes by proposing a contextual quality improvement framework based on integrated managerial practices and religious values, which can serve as a reference for similar madrasah contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept of integration of Islamic Education theology in the Project Based Learning (PjBL) strategy, its implementation in the learning process, as well as supporting and inhibiting factors in an effort to improve student spirituality. The research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type. Data was obtained through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation of lecturers and students in the Bridge and Road Design Engineering Study Program, Department of Civil Engineering, Bandung State Polytechnic (Polban). Data analysis is carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study show that the integration of Islamic Education theology in the PjBL strategy is realized through strengthening the values of monotheism, worship, and morals in each stage of project-based learning. Implementation is carried out systematically through the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation stages by using the Qur'an and hadith as the normative basis of the project. This strategy is able to increase students' spiritual awareness, such as honesty, responsibility, social empathy, discipline, and awareness of worship. Supporting factors include lecturer competence, student motivation, characteristics of PjBL, and religious academic culture, while inhibiting factors include time constraints, formal academic orientation, and differences in students' religious backgrounds. This research confirms that the integration of Islamic Education theology in PjBL is effective in forming students who excel intellectually and spiritually.
