Abstract

This study examines the role of religious guidance (bimbingan keagamaan) in addressing homosexual (gay) behavior among adolescents, with a focus on a case study of client “M” in Sukajadi Subdistrict, Banyuasin Regency. Homosexual behavior involves sexual attraction toward individuals of the same sex, which is prohibited in Islamic teachings. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques included pattern matching, explanation building, and time-series analysis. The findings reveal that homosexual behavior in client “M” was manifested across four aspects: eye contact, fragrance usage, style of dress, and hairstyle. Religious guidance was implemented over five sessions using the advisory (nasihat) method, structured across three stages: the initial stage, the working/middle stage, and the final stage. Through this guidance, client “M” gradually disengaged from homosexual behavior and began engaging in Islamic practices such as the five daily prayers (shalat), reciting the Qur’an, and dhikr (remembrance of Allah SWT). This study demonstrates that integrating religious values into counseling is effective in promoting behavioral change among adolescents exhibiting sexual deviancy.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the application of individual counseling using assertive training techniques to reduce insecure behavior in adolescents at TPQ Amaliah Palembang. The method used was qualitative with a case study approach. Data were collected through direct observation, semi-structured interviews with five informants (students, parents, and TPQ administrators), and documentation. The results show that individual counseling with assertive training techniques is effective in reducing insecure behavior among adolescents, as evidenced by increased self-confidence following a staged counseling process involving role-playing, modeling, and positive reinforcement. Students who initially showed symptoms such as fear of speaking in public, avoidance of social situations, and excessive self-comparison gradually became more expressive, braver in sharing their opinions, and more confident in participating in class activities. Supporting factors include the positive therapeutic relationship between counselor and student, peer support, and consistent praise, while time limitations and the complexity of individual psychological problems were identified as obstacles. This study concludes that assertive training as part of individual counseling is an effective approach to address insecure behavior in adolescents.

Abstract

Environmental problems are increasingly complex and require the active role of the younger generation, especially students, in fostering an environmentally conscious character. The Nature Lovers Student Association (MAPALA), as an environmentally based organization, plays a strategic role in shaping environmentally friendly attitudes and behaviors. However, members are still found to be inconsistent in applying environmental values in their daily lives. This study aims to describe the implementation of group guidance using the homeroom technique in instilling an environmentally conscious character in MAPALA members of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang and analyze its impact on changes in members' attitudes and behaviors. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection techniques include observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results show that group guidance using the homeroom technique, implemented through the stages of opening, transition, core activities, and closing, is able to create a friendly, open, and participatory atmosphere. The homeroom technique provides an effective space for reflection and discussion so that MAPALA members are able to understand, internalize, and apply environmental values. Thus, group guidance using the homeroom technique has proven effective as an effort to instill an environmentally conscious character in students.

Abstract

Effective supervision of guidance and counseling (BK) is a key factor in ensuring accountability and improving the quality of BK services in schools. However, administrative and non-comprehensive supervisory practices often fail to drive substantive improvement. Stufflebeam's CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) model offers a systemic evaluation framework, yet its application as a supervision model oriented toward sustainable service development remains underexplored. This study aims to synthesize empirical evidence on the CIPP model's application in evaluating school BK programs and analyze its potential to be developed into a supervision model that strengthens BK services. A systematic literature review (SLR) following the PRISMA protocol was conducted. Article searches were performed in SINTA, Google Scholar, Scopus, and DOAJ databases for the period 2015–2025, yielding nine relevant articles after final selection. Thematic analysis indicates that the CIPP model effectively evaluates BK programs comprehensively, identifying gaps in context (alignment of vision-mission with student needs), input (counselor qualifications, facilities), process (service implementation), and product (impact on student development). Key findings reveal that weaknesses in BK services often originate in the input aspect (resource limitations and non-standard counselor qualifications) and the process aspect (inadequate service time allocation). This study concludes that the CIPP model is not only useful as a summative evaluation tool but also holds strong potential as a formative supervision framework. Consequently, developing a CIPP-based supervision model can promote targeted, sustainable, and student-centered improvement of BK service quality in schools.

Abstract

Elementary school children are at a crucial stage of development in cognitive, emotional, social, and moral aspects. Therefore, learning strategies should not only focus on academic achievement but also take into account students' developmental characteristics. Educational psychology plays a significant role in helping educators understand how children learn and the factors influencing learning success. This study aims to examine educational psychology-based learning strategies to support elementary school students. The method used is a literature review analyzing recent scientific journals and books. The results indicate that strategies such as active learning, play-based learning, contextual learning, and individualized approaches can enhance motivation, engagement, and learning outcomes. Thus, integrating educational psychology into teaching is essential for creating effective and meaningful learning experiences.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the influence of learning styles on the academic development of elementary school students at SDN 1 Selat Penuguan. The study was motivated by the fact that classroom instruction often uses uniform teaching methods, whereas students receive, process, and express information in different ways. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed through classroom observation, interviews with teachers and students, and documentation of learning activities. The analysis focused on visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles; the way teachers identify students' learning preferences; and instructional strategies that can support academic development. The findings indicate that students show varied learning tendencies: visual learners respond strongly to pictures, colors, diagrams, and videos; auditory learners benefit from oral explanation, discussion, and question-and-answer activities; and kinesthetic learners understand concepts more easily through practice, movement, simulation, and direct experience. The mismatch between teaching strategies and students' learning tendencies may reduce attention, participation, confidence, and task completion. The novelty of this study lies in its integration of learning-style identification with multimodal and differentiated teaching strategies in an elementary school context. Understanding students' learning styles helps teachers design more inclusive, meaningful, and engaging learning experiences that support students' academic development.

Abstract

This study analyzed the relationship between emotional maturity and students' learning readiness at SDN 17 Kayuagung. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through direct observation and documentation of student development records. The results showed that emotional maturity is a key determinant in shaping learning readiness. Students with good emotional regulation demonstrate high focus, strong motivation, and active participation in learning. Conversely, emotional instability is a significant barrier to student concentration and engagement in class. The study's conclusions confirm that improving learning readiness in elementary schools requires strengthening psychological factors and the learning environment, in addition to academic factors.

Abstract

Basic education has an important role in developing the potential of students, especially through an effective learning process that is in accordance with student characteristics. One of the factors that affects the success of learning is learning style, which is the way an individual receives, processes, and understands information. This study aims to examine the importance of understanding students' learning styles from the perspective of learning theory and psychology in elementary schools. The method used is qualitative descriptive through literature studies by examining various sources such as books, scientific journals, and related articles. The results of the study show that learning styles are divided into three main types, namely visual, auditory, and kinesthetic, each of which has different characteristics in the learning process. In addition, learning theories such as behaviorism, cognitivism, constructivism, and humanistic provide a foundation for understanding how students learn optimally. Understanding learning styles allows teachers to design learning strategies, methods, and media that are more varied, interesting, and in accordance with students' needs. Thus, learning becomes more effective, increases motivation, and improves student learning outcomes. Therefore, teachers need to recognize and accommodate differences in students' learning styles to create an optimal and meaningful learning process in elementary school.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of religious moderation values in Islamic family counseling practices rooted in the local wisdom of Satu Tungku Tiga Batu in Kampung Patipi Pulau, Fakfak Regency. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through field observations, in-depth interviews with a religious leader (Jufri) and a traditional as well as government figure (Sudin Bauw), documentation of community social practices, and content analysis of a BBC News video highlighting interfaith coexistence in Fakfak. Data were analyzed using directed content analysis with predetermined coding categories, namely justice, balance, and tolerance. The findings indicate that the value of justice is implemented through deliberative counseling practices that provide equal participation opportunities for all family members, regardless of religious background or clan affiliation. Balance is reflected in the proportional distribution of family roles and emotional regulation within family relationships. Meanwhile, tolerance is manifested through acceptance of religious differences and the maintenance of kinship ties across faiths. These practices are strengthened by the integration of Islamic values and the philosophy of Satu Tungku Tiga Batu, which functions as an ethical and cultural framework in family guidance. This study concludes that Islamic family counseling in Kampung Patipi Pulau operates contextually through cultural mediation and contributes to the development of culturally grounded religious moderation.
