Abstract

This study examines the ethical boundaries of genetic engineering from a Christian theological perspective, specifically through the lens of the Imago Dei doctrine. Using a qualitative library research approach, this research analyzes the theological and ethical implications of CRISPR-Cas9 technology and genetic enhancement practices. The findings reveal three critical tensions: (1) the distinction between therapeutic intervention and genetic enhancement, (2) the boundaries of divine sovereignty versus human stewardship responsibility, and (3) the commodification risk of human life through genetic modification. This study concludes that while somatic gene therapy can be ethically justified as part of healing ministry, germline editing and enhancement technologies pose fundamental challenges to human dignity as bearers of God’s image. The research recommends that Christian ethics should guide technological development by prioritizing the intrinsic value of human life over utilitarian genetic quality standards.

Abstract

The abstract Surgical site infections (SSIs) are serious complications that can increase morbidity, length of hospital stay, treatment costs, and the risk of disability and death. Education on infection prevention and effective environmental maintenance can prevent these complications. The objective of this activity is to increase patients' and families' knowledge about the signs, symptoms, and prevention methods for infections in postoperative wounds at Dr. Soeharso Orthopedic Hospital in Surakarta. Based on this data, the partner's problem can be formulated as a lack of education, resulting in patients' families not understanding how to prevent surgical site infections. Based on the priority issues agreed upon with the partner, it was agreed to conduct health education activities on the prevention of post-operative wound infections and environmental maintenance for patients and their families. The results showed a significant increase in respondents' knowledge, from 7 people (50%) with insufficient knowledge before the education session to no respondents with insufficient knowledge and 9 people (60%) with good knowledge after the session. Based on the results of the health education activities conducted, 15 respondents at Soeharso Orthopedic Hospital in Surakarta understood the material regarding the definition of infection, signs and symptoms, prevention methods, and the relationship between wound healing and environmental maintenance. Abstract

Women's empowerment is an important strategy for improving family welfare, particularly in rural areas. Women's involvement in productive economic activities, such as Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), can significantly contribute to household income. This study aims to analyze the role of women's empowerment in strengthening the family economy through MSME bazaar activities in Tanjung Medang Village, Kelekar District, Muara Enim Regency. The research method used is a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects consisted of female MSME owners, village officials, and parties involved in organizing the bazaar. Data analysis was conducted descriptively to describe the empowerment process, forms of participation, and their impact on the family economy. The results show that MSME bazaar activities provide a space for women to develop skills, increase self-confidence, and expand marketing networks. Women's active participation in the bazaar has an impact on increasing family income, economic independence, and contributions to the village economy. In addition, support from the village government and collaboration between business actors also strengthen the sustainability of the program. Thus, women's empowerment through MSME bazaars has proven to be an effective way to strengthen family economy and promote local economic development. Continued support in the form of training, access to capital, and promotion is needed for this empowerment program to develop optimally

Abstract

Family economic challenges and the increasing volume of plastic waste pose challenges that require innovative and sustainable solutions. This program aims to strengthen family finances through the creation of eco-paving blocks based on the values of An-Zahfatu Minal Iman (The Faithful Belief), which serve as a spiritual foundation for maintaining environmental cleanliness. The methods used include outreach, technical training in processing plastic waste into paving blocks, and mentoring in family business management. Results demonstrate that utilizing plastic waste can produce valuable products, increase family income, and raise public awareness of the importance of cleanliness as part of faith. Thus, this program not only improves economic well-being but also encourages the creation of a clean, productive, and sustainable environment.

Abstract

Advances in information technology have prompted the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia to implement an electronic court system (e‑Court) as part of judicial bureaucratic reform to realize the principles of simple, fast, and low‑cost justice. However, the implementation of e‑Court faces the reality of a digital divide, particularly in rural areas, which is characterized by limited network infrastructure, low device ownership, and inadequate levels of digital and legal literacy. This study aims to analyze the impact of the digital divide on the accessibility of e‑Court services for rural communities in the settlement of civil disputes, as well as to formulate affirmative and inclusive policy recommendations. This qualitative research uses a normative and descriptive-analytical juridical approach based on a literature review of relevant laws, regulations, court decisions, and previous scholarly works. The findings indicate that, without systematic policy intervention, judicial digitalization has the potential to create technological elitism that further marginalizes rural communities. Therefore, the state needs to strengthen ICT infrastructure, implement legal digital literacy programs, and provide inclusive e‑Court services for rural communities in order to ensure the realization of justice.

Abstract

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease commonly experienced by older adults and is one of the leading risk factors for stroke. This condition is frequently found among the elderly due to physiological changes associated with aging as well as unhealthy lifestyle habits. The low level of knowledge among older adults regarding hypertension, its risk factors, and the importance of physical activity contributes to suboptimal blood pressure control in this population. This community service program aimed to improve the knowledge of older adults about hypertension and to promote the implementation of physical activity through health education and hypertension exercise programs. The activity was conducted at Posyandu Lansia Melati VIII in Gatak Village, Sukoharjo Regency, involving 27 elderly participants. The methods used included health education through video and presentation media, direct practice of hypertension exercises, and knowledge evaluation using pre-test and post-test assessments. The results showed a significant increase in participants’ knowledge, from 55.6% of participants who previously lacked understanding of hypertension to 92.6% who demonstrated adequate understanding after the educational intervention. In addition, participants showed high enthusiasm in participating in hypertension exercise sessions regularly with community health volunteers
