Abstract

  This study analyzes the structural legal dilemma in international investment law caused by the normative rigidity of conventional stability clauses, which triggers a regulatory chill. The central issue examined is the high potential for compensation claims regarding the loss of expected future profits (Lucrum Cessans) filed by investors when host states adjust public policies. The primary objective of this research is to formulate a comprehensive integration model of the public policy doctrine into state-investor investment contracts as an effective limiting instrument against financial claims. Utilizing normative legal research methods through a conceptual approach, this article dissects conflicts between private investor legitimate expectations and a state's sovereign right to regulate. The results indicate that an explicitly integrated public policy clause provides a solid legal basis for state regulatory action. In conclusion, this integration effectively mitigates extensive financial risks from Lucrum Cessans compensation claims while restoring a balanced contractual relationship between host states and foreign investors.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the legal parameters of forced defense (noodweer) and forced defense beyond the limit (noodweer exces) in the transition of criminal law from the old Criminal Code (Wetboek van Strafreth) to Law Number 1 of 2023. The research method used in this study is normative juridical statutory and conceptual approach. the replacement of the Old Criminal Code (Wetboek van Strafreth), Law Number 1 of 2023 provides systematic clarity with a clear separation between justification and excuse reasons in forced defense (noodweer). However, in practice, in practice, the defense of self-defense is often rejected due to fraud to prove the immediate element in the attack incident, and there is a failure to show a causal relationship in the attack on the grounds of "severe mental shock". This gives rise to decisions with varying results because there is no standard for assessing these factors. This study concludes the need for criminal law reform in the standardization of forensic psychological evidence to ensure legal certainty and avoid subjectivity in judges' decisions.

Abstract

Advances in technology digital have made web browsers an essential tool for learning, searching for information, and communicating. Google Chrome is often chosen by students because it is easy to use, rich in features, and compatible with online educational services. However, how users manage features such as tabs, extensions, and bookmarks varies. This research seeks to examine how seventh-grade students at SMPN 1 Banyuputih Situbondo use tabs, extensions, and bookmarks in Google Chrome, and the factors that influence their effective use of these features.   A survey method with a descriptive quantitative approach was employed in this study. The material presented was appropriate for seventh-grade students at SMPN 1 Banyuputih Situbondo who regularly use Google Chrome for learning and daily digital activities.   The results of this study suggest that most students have used the tab feature to access multiple information sources simultaneously. However, the use of bookmarks and extensions remains minimal. This low usage is attributed to a lack of understanding of their benefits, functions, and how to manage them. Based on this research, improving digital literacy related to browser administration can enhance the efficiency of information searches, learning productivity, and support more structured management of digital learning resources.

Abstract

The rapid development of information technology requires students to possess adequate digital competencies, particularly in using Microsoft Word for academic writing. However, students at MA Nurul Khoiroh Pekarangan Kelir Kalipuro Banyuwangi face limited access to technology, resulting in low proficiency in producing properly formatted and systematic academic papers. This study aims to describe the implementation and outcomes of a Microsoft Word training program for students at MA Nurul Khoiroh. The method employed was descriptive qualitative through a community service approach, consisting of three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The training was conducted using lecture, direct demonstration, and guided practice methods, covering materials such as margin settings, text formatting, heading creation, automatic table of contents, and page numbering. The results indicate a significant improvement in students' abilities, from merely typing plain text to producing well-formatted papers in accordance with academic writing standards. This activity demonstrates that a practical and guided training approach is effective in enhancing the digital literacy of students in rural areas.

Abstract

This research examines Phenomenon widespread phenomenon of online gambling in the digital era and has had significant social, economic, and spiritual impacts, including within church communities. This community service activity aims to improve understanding of Christian faith and self-control regarding online gambling practices in the Indonesian Christian Fellowship (ICF) community in Poipet, Cambodia. The method used was Participatory Action Research (PAR) through a participatory and reflective approach, involving approximately 30 members of the congregation members. The program was implemented in the form of digital literacy seminars, faith training classes, reflective discussions, and individual spiritual mentoring. Qualitatively, participants reported increased spiritual awareness, moral responsibility, and positive changes in digital behavior. These results indicate that community-based faith training is effective in strengthening religious values ​​and reducing risky behavior. This program is expected to serve as a model for replication by churches and other religious institutions facing similar challenges in the modern context.

Abstract

Advancements in information technology have significantly influenced the learning process, particularly in the field of computer programming within vocational high schools. NetBeans is a commonly used application for teaching Java-based programming. This study aims to examine the use of NetBeans in Java programming practical sessions at SMK Ibrahimy 1 Sukorejo, identify the benefits of using the software, and determine the obstacles encountered during these sessions. The findings from the community service activity conducted at SMK Ibrahimy 1 Sukorejo indicate that NetBeans facilitates students' understanding of Java programming syntax through features such as a code editor, debugging tools, and an interface that streamlines the program development process. Furthermore, the use of NetBeans enhances the effectiveness of practical sessions by allowing students to quickly execute and test their programs. However, certain challenges were identified, including students' limited understanding of programming logic, syntax errors, and hardware limitations in some instances. Consequently, NetBeans is considered an effective tool for supporting Java programming practical learning in schools.

Abstract

The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has significantly transformed various sectors, including the legal field. AI has increasingly been utilized in civil dispute resolution, assisting in legal research, document analysis, judgment prediction, and the implementation of Online Dispute Resolution (ODR). These technological advancements offer several advantages, including time savings, cost efficiency, and improved public access to legal services. However, the use of AI also raises several legal issues, including regulatory gaps, algorithmic bias, personal data protection concerns, and questions regarding legal liability when errors occur during decision-making processes. This study employs a normative juridical research method using statutory and conceptual approaches. The findings indicate that AI has considerable potential to improve the effectiveness of civil dispute resolution. Nevertheless, its implementation still requires human oversight and comprehensive legal regulations to ensure legal certainty, justice, and the protection of the parties' rights in Indonesia.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have an important role in improving the community's economy. However, many business actors still face obstacles in business branding and digitalization. One of the MSMEs experiencing these problems is Bakso Mburu Cukup MSME in Turusgede Village, which did not yet have a visual business identity, digital business location, and non-cash payment system. This Kuliah Kerja Usaha (KKU) activity aimed to improve business identity and service quality through branding strengthening and digital transformation. The implementation methods used observation, mentoring, implementation, and evaluation stages. The programs carried out included creating business banners and logos, registering business locations on Google Maps, and implementing the QRIS digital payment system. The results showed that the installation of banners and business logos increased business visibility and attractiveness, making it easier for the community to recognize the MSME location. In addition, registering the business location on Google Maps made it easier for customers to find the business digitally, while implementing QRIS improved the convenience and efficiency of payment transactions. Based on the evaluation results, the program succeeded in improving service quality, customer convenience, and the number of daily customers. Overall, the KKU activity successfully provided solutions to business problems through branding strengthening and service digitalization, thereby helping improve the competitiveness of MSMEs in the digital era.

Abstract

The Community Service Program (KKN) is a concrete manifestation of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, aimed at making a tangible contribution to the community through various empowerment activities. The KKN activities of Group 82 from Bhayangkara University of Greater Jakarta were held in Kedung Pengawas Village, Babelan Subdistrict, Bekasi Regency, focusing on an Environmental Cleanliness and Greening Program implemented through two main activities: the Clean Village Movement and the Village Green Beautification initiative. This program was driven by the urgent need to raise public awareness about maintaining environmental cleanliness and the urgency of developing green spaces in residential areas. The approach used was a participatory method that positioned the community as active participants through a series of stages, including field observations, coordination, activity implementation, and program evaluation. The results of the program demonstrate an increase in community concern for environmental cleanliness and sustainability, as evidenced by a cleaner, more organized, and more comfortable environment, as well as an increase in green spaces that make the residential area appear more pleasant. In addition, the high level of active community participation throughout the event reflects a growing collective awareness of the importance of sustainable environmental stewardship. Thus, the program has proven capable of having a positive impact on environmental quality and contributing to the creation of a clean, healthy, and green environment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze Joseph Raz's concept of legal authority through the Service Conception of Authority and examine its relevance to inclusive legal positivism in reconstructing contemporary legal legitimacy. The study is motivated by the growing crisis of legal legitimacy, reflected in declining public trust in legal institutions and the widening gap between the formal validity of law and its social acceptance. This research employs a normative legal research method using both a conceptual approach and a statute approach. Primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials are analyzed qualitatively using a descriptive-analytical method. The findings indicate that legal legitimacy, according to Joseph Raz, depends not only on the formal validity of legal rules but also on the law's ability to provide individuals with better practical reasons for action through the dependence thesis, normal justification thesis, and pre-emption thesis. Inclusive legal positivism broadens the concept of legal validity by recognizing the role of moral values in determining legal validity. This study concludes that contemporary legal legitimacy should be reconstructed through the integration of formal validity, moral justification, and social acceptance, thereby producing a more adaptive and sustainable model of legal legitimacy for modern legal systems.
