Abstract

Excessive anxiety in chemotherapy patients can affect the patient's motivation to carry out chemotherapy. Pharmacological therapy to reduce patient anxiety has many unwanted side effects. Therefore, non-pharmacological treatment is needed because it has few side effects, one of which is lavender aromatherapy. The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of giving aromatherapy in reducing the anxiety of chemotherapy patients at Lavalette Hospital. This type of research is quasi-experimental, with the pretest-postest control group design used in this study. The samples in this study were 30 chemotherapy patients at Lavalette Hospital at the time of the research. Data analysis used a paired T-test technique. Data analysis tests the average anxiety level in the intervention group, which was 16.60 with a standard deviation of 2.530, while for the control group, which used distraction techniques, the average was 19.80 with a standard deviation of 2.569. Statistical test results obtained a sig value (2tailed) of 0.002 (P <0.05). The results obtained are differences in anxiety reduction with distraction therapy and lavender aromatherapy therapy. The provision of lavender aromatherapy is more effective than the distraction technique, as evidenced by the difference in the average anxiety reduction of 1.1 points. It is expected that aromatherapy therapy can be applied to chemotherapy patients with anxiety.

Abstract

Hypothermia causes discomfort to the patient and leads to dangerous complications. Nonpharmacological treatments for hypothermia include using fluid warmers and blanket warmers. This study aimed to determine the difference in the effectiveness of fluid warmers and blanket warmers on the body temperature of hypothermic patients after subarachnoid block anesthesia. This research is a quasi-experiment with a non-equivalent comparison group design. The research subjects included hypothermic patients after subarachnoid block anesthesia in the Recovery Room of Dr. Mohamad Soewandhie Surabaya Hospital. The sample amounted to 82 people divided into 2 groups: 41 in the fluid-warmer group and 41 in the blanket-warmer group. The sampling technique used was Simple Random Sampling. Data analysis using Paired T-Test and Independent T-Test. The results showed that after 30 minutes, the average increase in body temperature in the fluid warmer group was 1.78oC, the average increase in body temperature in the blanket warmer group was 1.18oC, and the difference in the average value of body temperature increase between the fluid warmer and blanket warmer groups was 0.59oC. The p-value in the Independent T-Test test results is 0.000. Based on decision-making in the Independent T-Test Test, the p-value is less than 0.05, meaning that the average body temperature increase between the fluid-warmer and blanket-warmer groups is significantly different. Looking at the results of the above study, it can be concluded that there are differences in the effectiveness of fluid and blanket warmers on the body temperature of patients with hypothermia after subarachnoid block anesthesia. Among the two interventions, the use of fluid warmers is a therapy that is more effective in increasing the body temperature of hypothermic patients after subarachnoid block anesthesia, so researchers suggest that the use of fluid warmers can be used as an option therapy in increasing the body temperature of hypothermic patients.

Abstract

Patient safety in hospitals is a form of guarantee that care for patients becomes safer. Patient Safety Goal accreditation standards are the main thing that must be done, especially by health workers who work in hospitals, because they are closely related and will affect the quality of service in hospitals. Preliminary studies show that nurses' knowledge and compliance with implementing patient safety target standards still need to be improved. This study aimed to determine nurses' knowledge of implementing compliance with Patient Safety Goal standards according to STARKES 2022. This research design is a correlation analytic with a cross-sectional approach. The population was all nurses at the Jombang Hospital Inpatient Installation, totaling 184 respondents. The sample in this study amounted to 126 respondents, obtained through the probability sampling technique (proportionate stratified random sampling). Measuring instruments in the form of questionnaires and observation sheets. The Spearman Rho test analyzed data with p-value <α (0.05). The results showed a relationship between the level of knowledge and compliance with implementing patient safety target standards with a p-value of 0.000 <0.5, where the correlation level was 0.466. The higher the nurse's knowledge, the higher the nurse's compliance in implementing patient safety target standards.

Abstract

Bullying is a global phenomenon. One of the factors of bullying is family affective function. This study analyzes the relationship between family affective function and bullying behavior in school-age children at SDK Sang Timur Malang. This study used a cross-sectional approach. The measurement tools used were the bullying behavior questionnaire (Sejiwa) and the family affective function questionnaire (Family Assessment Device / FAD). The number of samples in this study was 44 students. Characteristics of respondents aged 10-12 years. The family affective function is in the moderate category, and most of the components respect each other. Bullying behavior is in the low category and most of the verbal bullying. Bivariate analysis shows a relationship between family affective function and bullying behavior in school-age children at SDK Sang Timur Malang (Spearman Rank test, p=0.002). The suggestion for this research is that it can be used as a group counseling therapy for families. This therapy, which involves structured sessions led by a trained counselor, aims to provide the concept of good family affective function so that it can reduce the incidence of bullying behavior. This therapy can be applied when conducting school interventions when students practice mental nursing in the community by providing solutions regarding bullying behavior and in the family community by providing counseling on family affective functions to families.

Abstract

The stress they feel hurts sleep patterns, and difficulty sleeping soundly can affect sleep quality. Other impacts are emotional changes (feeling easily tired and having difficulty relaxing.) and behavioral changes (lazy learning, breaking rules, and running away from pesantren). The study aimed to analyze the relationship between stress levels and sleep quality of new students in Dormitory X of Darul 'Ulum Jombang boarding school. A retrospective analytic research design, a sample of 59 respondents, was used using a random sampling technique. This study used PSS and PSQI questionnaires; statistical tests used Spearman rho with a significance of α ≤ 0.05. As a result, 59.3% have a moderate level of stress with poor sleep quality; Pvalue < α (0.003 < 0.05) means that there is a relationship between stress levels and the quality of sleep of new students in dormitory X Ponpes Darul 'Ulum Jombang. The correlation coefficient value of 0.378 shows a weak positive correlation. Thus, the significant relationship between stress levels and sleep quality is not very strong. This study shows that in the age group 13-16 years, almost half (81.4%) have been able to manage stress, have a high school education level, almost half 54.2% know how to manage stress, have a comfortable environment, almost half (66.1%), get social support from friends almost half (72.9%), have a target to be achieved (71.2%) so that it can reduce stress levels and poor sleep quality to improve. It is important to understand how to balance students' obligations and sleep quality, as well as how to provide nursing interventions to improve sleep quality and reduce stress levels in students with other stress management measures.
