Abstract

The psychosocial challenges faced by children may not always correspond with the emotional disorders exhibited by their parents. A robust support system from their social network can significantly contribute to the enhancement of their mental well-being. This study aims to investigate the relationship between parental emotional disorders and psychosocial issues in school-aged children. The research utilizes a descriptive correlational approach with a cross-sectional design, involving 165 students aged 6 to 12 from Public Elementary School 1 Kucur who are currently enrolled in school, along with one consenting parent, resulting in 330 respondents. The Self-Reporting Questionnaire-29 (SRQ-29) is used to identify parental emotional issues, while the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) assesses children's psychosocial problems. An analysis employing Somers' D Gamma was conducted to ascertain the correlation between parental mental-emotional disorders and children's psychological well-being. The findings reveal that the highest average score for parental mental-emotional disorders stands at 82.4%. In comparison, the highest average score for total difficulties in children's psychosocial issues is 58.8%, while the highest average prosocial score is 92.7%. The statistical analysis reveals no significant connection between parental emotional disorders and children's psychosocial problems on the prosocial scale (p=0.897) and total difficulties score (p=0.897). In conclusion, the findings of this research do not establish a direct link due to the numerous factors influencing children's psychosocial challenges.

Abstract

School-aged children, as a developmental stage, are a group at high risk for mental health issues, particularly during this pandemic of COVID-19. Children may be perpetrators, witnesses, or victims of violence or irregularities perpetrated directly or through social media. This community service activity is designed to improve the mental health of children during the COVID-19 pandemic through early detection, prevention, and early treatment of mental health issues through parental and teacher empowerment programs. When children learn online and do more activities at home with their families, there are many factors that affect children's mental health. This is not widely known by the school, teachers, counselors, and parents clearly, which results in the state of the child getting worse. Through an empowerment program, they can discover early deviations that occur and take preventive measures with early treatment efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Social anxiety on adolescents is a condition when adolescents feel anxious due to internal or external pressure, thus causing them prone to experience anxiety when they were in a social situation. Generalized anxiety therapy as a non-pharmacological therapy is used to reduce anxiety in adolescents, while socialization therapy is used to increase their ability to socialize, one of which is to communicate with same-age friends. This study aimed to analyze the effect of giving generalized anxiety therapy and socialization therapy on the level of social anxiety in junior high school students in Malang. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a non-randomized pretest-posttest control group design. The number of 60 participants was divided into two groups: the experimental group and the control group. This study has shown no significant decrease in social anxiety levels from giving generalized anxiety therapy and socialization therapy in both groups. This study showed no significant difference in giving generalized anxiety therapy and socialization therapy for social anxiety in adolescents. However, generalized anxiety therapy and socialization therapy may be an alternative to non-pharmacological therapy in adolescents with social anxiety, but it needs more research about this topic to improve evidence-based practice.

Abstract

Background Schizophrenia is a chronic mental disorder characterized by disorganized thoughts, speech, and behavior. In the hebephrenic subtype, patients often exhibit childish, purposeless behavior and experience mild hallucinations or delusions. One of the core symptoms—hallucinations—reflects an impaired ability to distinguish internal from external stimuli, potentially resulting in loss of self-control and harmful actions. This study aimed to describe the mental nursing care provided to Mr. D, a patient with hallucinations and hebephrenic schizophrenia. Method This case study used an analytical approach to psychiatric nursing care with a descriptive design. Data were obtained through subjective and objective assessment, followed by problem identification, nursing diagnoses, intervention planning, implementation, and evaluation, all presented descriptively. Result After six days of nursing care, the patient showed significant improvement in managing hallucinations, communicating effectively, following structured activities, and adhering to medication. There was also a noticeable decrease in the frequency and intensity of hallucination-related symptoms. Conclusion Targeted nursing interventions improved the patient’s ability to manage hallucinations, engage socially, and maintain treatment compliance. These results underscore the importance of
