Abstract

Corrosion is a serious problem that causes economic and environmental losses in various industrial sectors, including the military, with global costs exceeding $2.5 trillion annually. Corrosion can reduce the lifespan and performance of military equipment, increase maintenance costs, and affect operational readiness. One solution to protect metals is the use of polymer-based coatings. Nanocomposites are synthesized through a mixing process between an epoxy matrix and uniformly dispersed nanoparticles. Recent research has developed epoxy nanocomposites with nanoparticles such as TiO₂, ZnO, and SiO₂ to enhance mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. Results from several related studies show significant improvements in corrosion resistance, with certain composites such as PANi/TiO₂ and PDMASTiO₂ demonstrating good efficiency and resistance to extreme environments, which could potentially extend the lifespan of military equipment and reduce maintenance costs.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the struggle of interfaith women through a feminist perspective on the character of Maria in the film Jangan Panggil Mama Kafir. The main focus of the study is to deconstruct the patriarchal culture represented in the film, especially through binary oppositions such as male/female, majority/minority, and "believer/infidel" which place women in a subordinate position, the form of oppression experienced by the character of Maria as an interfaith woman and the representation of Maria's feminist struggle in facing social and religious stigma. The method used is descriptive qualitative research with data collection techniques in the form of audiovisual observation and documentation studies. Data analysis was carried out using Roland Barthes' semiotic approach associated with feminist theory, as well as a deconstruction approach to dismantle and reverse the dominant hierarchy of meaning about the form of oppression experienced by the character of Maria as an interfaith woman and how the representation of Maria's feminist struggle in facing social and religious stigma. The results of the study show that the character of Maria represents a form of feminist struggle that is non-confrontational, namely through identity negotiation, mental resilience, and the practice of compassion.

Abstract

The rapid growth of electric vehicles and renewable energy systems has driven unprecedented demand for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), generating substantial volumes of hazardous end-of-life battery waste with serious environmental and public health implications. This scoping review aims to map the current state of evidence on LIB waste management, encompassing recycling technologies, environmental and health impacts, and governing policy frameworks. A systematic literature search was conducted across Scopus, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, and Google Scholar, restricted to peer-reviewed articles published between 2020 and 2025. Results indicate that pyrometallurgy, hydrometallurgy, and direct physical recycling each present distinct trade-offs in recovery efficiency, energy demand, and secondary waste generation, with no single approach universally superior. Life cycle assessments demonstrate that environmental outcomes are strongly influenced by energy source, reagent use, and geographic context. Improper LIB disposal poses documented risks including heavy metal leaching, toxic gas release, and fire hazards. Policy frameworks remain inconsistent across jurisdictions, and collection infrastructure is particularly inadequate in developing countries, including Indonesia. This review concludes that sustainable LIB waste management requires an integrated approach combining technological development, comprehensive impact assessment, and robust regulatory governance adapted to local conditions.
