Abstract

This study aims to investigate students' experiences in utilizing a starter wiring simulator during the automotive electrical learning process at SMKN 1 Leuwidamar. This study adopted a descriptive qualitative approach with a sample of 11th-grade students majoring in Motorcycle Engineering and Business. Data were collected through participant observation, semi-structured interviews, documentation, and practical assessments. The study findings indicate that the use of a starter wiring simulator contributed to improving students' understanding and practical skills. The percentage of students who successfully assembled the starter circuit increased from 40% to 70%, while the average time to complete the circuit decreased from 27.4 minutes to 18.6 minutes. In addition, students found it easier to understand component functions and perform troubleshooting, and were more active and interested during the learning process. The level of student satisfaction with the use of the simulator was also in the good category. Therefore, the starter wiring simulator can be an effective learning tool to improve the quality of automotive electrical education in vocational high schools.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of Smartboard media on the science and social studies (IPAS) learning outcomes of third-grade students at UPTD SD Negeri 124286 Pematangsiantar. The study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with two groups, namely an experimental class and a control class. The population of this study consisted of all third-grade students at the school. The research sample included 20 students in the experimental class and 20 students in the control class. Data were collected through tests administered in the form of pretests and posttests. Prior to implementation, the research instruments were tested for validity, discrimination index, and item difficulty level. The validity test results indicated that all 20 test items were valid. The findings revealed that the average student learning outcome score in the experimental class was 87.00, while the control class obtained an average score of 76.25. Based on the hypothesis testing using the Independent Sample t-Test, the significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) was 0.002 < 0.05, indicating that Ha was accepted and H0 was rejected. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of Smartboard media had a significant effect on the IPAS learning outcomes of third-grade students at UPTD SD Negeri 124286 Pematangsiantar.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Everyone Is a Teacher Here learning model on the critical thinking skills of fourth-grade students in Civic Education (PKN) learning on rights and obligations at the UPTD of SD Negeri 091263 Karangsari. The background of this study is based on the low critical thinking skills of students as indicated by the results of initial observations, where as many as 60% of students have not achieved learning mastery. The low critical thinking skills are caused by learning that is still centered on the teacher and the use of less varied learning models. This study uses a quantitative approach with an experimental method and a one-group pretest-posttest design. The population and sample in this study were all fourth-grade students of UPTD SD Negeri 091263 Karangsari, totaling 25 people. Data collection techniques were carried out through pretest and posttest in the form of essay questions totaling 10 items that have been validated using the Aiken's V scale. The data analysis technique used was the N-Gain test and hypothesis testing using the t-test. The results showed that the application of the Everyone Is a Teacher Here learning model had a positive influence on students' critical thinking skills. This is demonstrated by the improvement in student learning outcomes after being treated with this learning model. The "Everyone Is a Teacher Here" model was able to increase students' active participation, their ability to ask questions, answer questions, express opinions, and draw conclusions during the learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate students’ perceptions of using songs in learning English vocabulary among eighth-grade students at SMP Cinta Rakyat 3 Pematangsiantar. Vocabulary is a fundamental component in English language learning, yet many students still face difficulties in mastering it due to limited motivation and the use of conventional teaching methods. Therefore, this study explores the use of songs as an alternative learning medium to support vocabulary acquisition. This research employed a descriptive qualitative design. The participants were students of class VIII-B who had experienced learning English vocabulary through songs. The data were collected using a questionnaire and semi-structured interviews. The questionnaire results were analyzed using descriptive statistics, while the interview data were analyzed thematically to support the quantitative findings. The results show that students generally have positive perceptions toward the use of songs in learning English vocabulary. Songs help students memorize vocabulary more easily through repetition and rhythm, increase learning motivation, and create an enjoyable classroom atmosphere. In addition, songs encourage students to be more active in class and develop independent learning habits such as listening to songs outside the classroom and practicing pronunciation. Although some students faced minor difficulties such as fast song tempo and unclear pronunciation, these challenges did not significantly reduce their positive perceptions. Overall, the study concludes that songs are an effective and engaging medium for teaching English vocabulary. The use of songs can improve students’ vocabulary mastery while also increasing their motivation and participation in learning activities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of religiosity levels on the popular culture lifestyle of Muslim students at the Faculty of Engineering, Brawijaya University. The study used a quantitative approach with a survey design of 100 students selected through a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire with 13 statements for the religiosity variable and 10 statements for the popular culture lifestyle variable, and were strengthened by semi-structured interviews. Reliability tests produced Cronbach Alpha values of 0.680 for the religiosity variable and 0.738 for the popular culture lifestyle variable. Data analysis used descriptive statistics, the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, and the Spearman correlation test. The results showed that there was no significant relationship between religiosity levels and popular culture lifestyle (rs = -0.0002, p = 0.999). A total of 65% of respondents were in the high religiosity category, while 74% of respondents were in the medium popular culture lifestyle category, indicating that the two variables operate in parallel and independently. These findings indicate that religiosity does not serve as an absolute barrier to popular culture, but rather as a selective guide that helps students evaluate popular cultural content based on Islamic values. Further research is recommended to integrate moderating variables such as digital media literacy and self-control to uncover the deeper mechanisms behind this coexistence phenomenon.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of kite activity and bird strikes on the management of the Aviation Operational Safety Area (KKOP) at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali. The study aims to analyze aviation safety risks, evaluate the effectiveness of mitigation strategies, and identify obstacles to implementing aviation safety policies in the KKOP area. The study used a mixed methods approach with an explanatory design. The study population included the airport safety unit, AirNav Indonesia, the Airport Authority Region IV, and the community around the airport. The sample was determined using purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted through semi-structured interviews, documentation, and aviation incident reports for the period 2020–2025. Data analysis used descriptive statistics, Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA), thematic analysis, and SWOT analysis. The results showed that bird strikes were more dominant than kite disturbances, with the highest risk occurring in the runway, taxiway, and apron areas during the takeoff and landing phases. The threat of kites was influenced by socio-cultural factors of the community, while bird strikes were influenced by environmental conditions around the airport. This study concludes that integrated preventive, regulatory, technological, and collaborative strategies are needed to improve aviation safety management and support the zero accident target.
