Abstract

This study aims to explore the application of turmeric as an acid-base indicator in science learning at Madrasah ibtidaiyah ihya ulumiddin banjarmasin, as well as to understand students' perspectives on the use of turmeric in acid-base reaction experiments. The research method employed is a qualitative approach, utilizing interviews and observations with students at the madrasah. In the experiment, turmeric is used to indicate pH changes in solutions of Sunlight soap as a base and lime juice as an acid. The findings reveal that students have a good understanding of the acid-base concept and recognize the benefits of using turmeric as a natural, easily accessible, and environmentally friendly indicator. Based on interview results, students also expressed that this experiment made science learning more engaging and easier to comprehend. This study is expected to provide new insights into more contextual and applicable science teaching at the madrasah level.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to encourage student collaboration through technology-based learning media by utilizing Scratch software in fraction material for grade VII students. The research method used is Multimedia Development Life Cyle (MDLC) development. The trial of learning media was conducted on Parents’ Hope students. The results showed that the Fraction Explorer media designed as a math learning media was effective to encourage student collaboration in the classroom that presents the concept of fraction operations using Scratch application. Participants' responses to the developed media gave positive results, with an average score of 77% for each questionnaire indicator given in the “very good” category. Thus, there is a need for research to determine the effectiveness in learning and developing learning media and games to encourage group cooperation on different topics.

Abstract

In this review, we undertake an in-depth survey of the traditional as well as modern methods used in finding solutions for partial differential equations (henceforth PDEs). We categorise these equations into three main kinds: elliptic, parabolic, and hyperbolic. We also give illustrative examples of these PDEs and discuss the applications of them in a range of fields. This range extends from fluid dynamics (hydrodynamics), as well as thermal (heat) conduction, to quantum mechanics. Our exploration features a number of analyses used in this regard such as variable splitting or defactorising in addition to the transforms invented by Fourier and Laplace. Not only this but also this survey takes in numerical methods ranging from grid-based (finite difference), mesh-based (finite element) to spectral. Also discussed in this paper is a range of special techniques that ranges from the variational techniques, Green's (fundamental solution) functions to perturbation (also known as Asymptotic expansion in addition to sketching the latest developments with respect to computational methods. This review also sheds light on current challenges that confront addressing complicated PDEs especially those nonlinear and multi-variable. In this regard, the paper calls for more research in order to develop more effective methods. The paper maps out the importance of PDE usages in real-life and its potential for more related discoveries in the future particularly with respect to areas such as machine learning and quantum computing.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' mathematical problem-solving abilities in the topic of Systems of Three Linear Equations (SPLTV) at SMA PGRI 4 Jakarta. The research employs a qualitative method with an approach that includes interviews and written tests. The subjects of the study consist of eleventh-grade students selected purposively. The results indicate that students have varying levels of understanding regarding SPLTV problems, with some students facing difficulties in comprehending word problems and applying appropriate solving methods. Nevertheless, most students are able to utilize substitution, elimination, and combination methods in solving problems. The study also finds that students tend not to check their answers, which can affect the accuracy of their results. Therefore, it is recommended that students adopt a more systematic approach in problem-solving and perform checks to enhance their confidence and answer accuracy.

Abstract

In this paper, we study a new and improved preconditioned conjugate gradient (PCG) algorithm based on Dai and Liao's procedure to enhance the CG algorithm of (Maulana). The new PCG algorithm satisfies the coupling condition and the sufficient descent condition. This work proposes improved conjugate gradient methods to enhance the efficiency and robustness of classical conjugate gradient methods. The study changes the diagonal of the inverse Hessian approximation to quasi-Newton Broyden-Fletcher-Goldfarb-Shano (BFGS) updating to make a preconditioner for nonlinear conjugate gradient (NCG) methods used to solve large-scale optimization problems with no constraints. We will calculate the step size of this two-term algorithm by accelerating the Wolfe-Powell line searching technique. The proposed new PCG algorithms have proven their global convergence in certain specific conditions reported in this paper.

Abstract

This study examines the application of mini-game-based pocket books as a learning medium to improve elementary school (SD) students' mathematics learning outcomes. The background of this study is based on the challenges faced by students in understanding mathematical concepts effectively, so an innovative and fun approach is needed. Mini-game pocket books offer an interactive and motivating learning method, combining educational games with academic concepts. This study uses the systematic literature review (SLR) method by analyzing scientific articles published in the last five years from national journals and books. The analysis process is carried out descriptively to identify research patterns, the effectiveness of learning media, and their impact on student learning outcomes. The results of the study are expected to show that mini-game pocket books are able to improve students' conceptual understanding, learning motivation, and critical thinking skills. These findings also provide insight for teachers and researchers in developing more effective and interesting learning strategies at the elementary school level.

Abstract

This study examines the application of network models in daily life using a systematic literature review (SLR) method. Network models are mathematical approaches that aid in solving various optimization problems such as shortest routes, minimum spanning trees, and maximum flows. Findings reveal that the Floyd-Warshall and Dijkstra algorithms are applied for route navigation, Prim's algorithm for distribution efficiency, and the Edmonds-Karp algorithm for optimizing resource flows like water. This research highlights the significance of network models in enhancing operational efficiency, sustainability, and accessibility across various domains such as transportation, logistics, and resource management. With the integration of modern technology, network models hold significant potential for developing innovative solutions in everyday life.

Abstract

One of the biggest problems faced by several countries is the rapid increase in population growth, especially in an archipelagic country like Indonesia. One of the cities in North Sumatra Province that has experienced a significant increase in population is Medan City. This study discusses the population growth each year in Medan City. This study predicts the future population by combining historical data on population, birth rate, death rate, and migration using the Adams-Bashforth-Moulton approach in logistic modeling. This study shows the progress of the approach in predicting the population growth of Medan City. With an area of 265.10 thousand km2, and a population reaching 2,474,166 people in 2023. The Adams-Bashforth-Moulton method as a logistic growth model is very effective for decision making in predicting population growth in the city of Medan.

Abstract

The mathematics learning process at high school level often faces challenges in terms of difficulties in understanding concepts. Conventional learning media is not interesting and interactive enough so it is less effective in understanding the material. This research aims to produce learning media using PowerPoint on the subject of statistics for class X. The development model used is the R&D model with the ADDIE development pattern, which consists of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. The data collection technique used was a questionnaire. Data collection instrument that will obtain quantitative and qualitative data. Qualitative data was obtained from suggestions and input, while quantitative data was obtained from questionnaire calculations. The data analysis technique used is validation data analysis and learning media practicality data. The results of research validation analysis by three validators, namely media experts, material experts and learning experts using a Likert scale, show that the average validation of learning media is in the very feasible category. Apart from that, the results of the analysis of student response questionnaires, which involved thirty-two students, showed that the learning media obtained an average that fell into the very practical category. The conclusion of this research is that the interactive PowerPoint learning media on the subject of statistics, the material focusing on single data, has been tested and proven to be very feasible and very practical.”
