Abstract

This study investigates the influence of brand activism on consumer loyalty and perceived social change, with a particular emphasis on the Indonesian consumer context. In an era increasingly shaped by value-oriented consumption, brand activism has evolved as a strategic corporate response that extends beyond conventional corporate social responsibility (CSR). Unlike traditional CSR, which predominantly emphasizes philanthropy and environmental sustainability, brand activism entails a company’s public engagement with sociopolitical issues, thereby fostering stronger ideological alignment with consumers. Grounded in Social Identity Theory and Stakeholder Theory, this research examines the extent to which perceived authenticity and consistency of brand activism initiatives affect both consumer behavior and broader societal perceptions. Employing a quantitative research design, data were collected via an online survey involving 300 participants with prior exposure to brand activism campaigns. The proposed model was tested using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results indicate that brand activism has a significant positive effect on consumer loyalty (? = 0.58, p < .001) and enhances perceptions of social change (? = 0.42, p < .001). Moreover, consumer loyalty was found to mediate the relationship between brand activism and perceived social change (? = 0.35, p < .001), suggesting that loyal consumers contribute to the amplification of activism-driven societal outcomes. These findings have practical implications for marketers and brand strategists, highlighting the importance of sustained, genuine engagement with social causes. The study advances marketing scholarship by elucidating the connection between corporate performance and social transformation. Future research should consider longitudinal designs, objective social impact assessments, and cross-cultural comparative analyses to deepen insights into the evolving role of brand activism.

Abstract

This study investigates the role of SAPA 129 as a government-initiated service in safeguarding women who have experienced violence in Aceh Province. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. The findings demonstrate that SAPA 129 facilitates access to legal, psychological, and social assistance while offering an accessible digital reporting system. It has also contributed to raising community awareness of gender-based violence. Nonetheless, its implementation remains challenged by limited digital literacy, inadequate infrastructure, and deeply rooted patriarchal norms. Drawing on structural-functional theory, the service performs both manifest and latent functions within the broader social protection framework. Manifest functions include formal assistance and structured support, while latent functions involve increasing social solidarity and empowering survivors to report abuse. However, the presence of dysfunctions, such as service gaps in remote areas and insufficient human resources, continues to hinder its effectiveness. The study recommends expanding outreach efforts, strengthening interagency coordination, and promoting value transformation through community-based education. These insights are intended to inform more inclusive and responsive gender protection policies while advancing sociological understanding of violence prevention in localized contexts.

Abstract

This study examines the behavioral determinants and strategic enablers of green consumption among Indonesian youth, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production. Employing a mixed-methods approach, the research integrates structural modeling via partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) with multi-stakeholder prioritization through the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). Quantitative data collected from 229 respondents aged 18–35 indicate that attitude (? = 0.89), perceived behavioral control (? = 0.16), and actual behavior (? = 0.70) significantly influence the willingness to engage in green consumption. Interestingly, perceived behavioral control also exerts a negative effect (? = –0.58), pointing to possible psychological or systemic constraints. Complementary qualitative insights were obtained from focus group discussions involving 25 stakeholders representing government agencies, non-governmental organizations, academia, and the private sector. These discussions identified and ranked key sustainability strategies, with top priorities including the integration of environmental topics into formal education, the expansion of eco-friendly public infrastructure, and the enhancement of youth-focused awareness campaigns. The findings underscore the dual necessity of fostering individual behavioral intentions and providing institutional support through coordinated stakeholder action. This study offers evidence-based recommendations for policymakers, educators, and industry actors to strengthen youth engagement in sustainable consumption initiatives.

Abstract

Growing global awareness of environmental issues has led to the increasing adoption of circular economy principles as a practical approach to building efficient and sustainable systems. In Indonesia, particularly in Malang City, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) play a vital role in the national economy, contributing over 60% to the gross domestic product (GDP) and employing more than 97% of the workforce. This study aims to examine the relationship and influence of green technology adoption and human resource (HR) training on customer satisfaction, within the context of resource optimization through circular economy practices. Using a quantitative approach, the study surveyed 100 MSMEs selected through simple random sampling to ensure sectoral diversity and minimize sampling bias. Data were processed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software. The results indicate that HR training does not have a significant effect on customer satisfaction among MSMEs in Malang City. In contrast, the implementation of green technology and circular economy practices positively contributes to performance improvement, particularly when linked to customer satisfaction and sustainability outcomes across economic, environmental, and social dimensions.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the phenomenon of Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) about consumer behavior across three major academic fields: Business, Management, Economics, and Finance (BMEF); Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH); and Psychology and Decision Sciences (PSD). A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was conducted using bibliographic tools such as VOS Viewer, Publish or Perish, and Mendeley to analyse 220 scientific publications indexed in the Scopus database and published by reputable sources, including Emerald, Sage, Wiley, and Elsevier. The analysis results show a significant research gap between “Fear of Missing Out” and “Consumer Behavior” in the targeted fields. The analysis identifies ten thematic clusters, each revealing the conceptual and disciplinary links between FOMO and consumer-related phenomena. This study highlights the key contributors, emerging subthemes, and influential publications that shape current understanding of FOMO across business, social sciences, and psychology. By bridging this research gap, this study underscores the importance of FOMO as a psychological construct that influences consumer engagement and purchasing behaviour in digital environments. The findings also suggest practical implications for marketers seeking to optimize digital marketing strategies by leveraging FOMO-driven triggers. Furthermore, this study provides valuable directions for future research on decision-making processes, consumer behaviour dynamics, and the psychological impact of digital technologies, while emphasizing the need for interdisciplinary approaches to deepen theoretical development and address ethical considerations in digital marketing practices.

Abstract

The rapid growth of digital platforms in Indonesia has changed the way young travelers adopt information. Young travelers increasingly rely on user-generated content available on digital platforms, particularly Online Consumer Reviews (OCR) such as Google Reviews. This study examines the impact of the central route dimensions, which are part of the Elaboration Likelihood Model (ELM) message processing route, on the information adoption behavior of young travelers visiting the Millennium Glow Garden tourist attraction, a popular destination among youth due to its high-tech offerings. The study uses data from 385 respondents who have visited this destination with the help of Google Reviews. Multiple linear regression analysis was conducted on the six central route dimensions: information timeliness, information understandability, information relevance, information accuracy, value-added information, and information completeness. The findings provide strong evidence that timely, easily understandable, relevant, accurate, value-added, and complete information significantly influences the information adoption behavior of young travelers. These findings confirm the applicability of central route processing in the ELM within the context of tourism, particularly among young travelers who are closely tied to the digital evolution.

Abstract

The development of digital technology in the banking sector has driven significant transformation, including in mobile banking services. West Java Regional Banks, a regional development bank, has responded to this trend by launching the Mobileby Bank BJB application. This study examines how Fintech Service Quality and Sustainable Investment Literacy influence Bank Sustainable Performance and the mediating role of Continuance Intention in this relationship. The research is motivated by the gap between user expectations, the quality of services received, and the generally low level of user understanding regarding sustainability concepts, particularly in sustainable investment literacy. Using a quantitative approach and data analysis through questionnaire distribution, this study is expected to provide a clearer picture of the importance of improving digital service quality and sustainability literacy education in supporting the performance of digital banking. The findings are anticipated to offer strategic input for the development of Digi by Bank West Java Regional Bank in Indonesia and digital banking services in general, to be more competitive and aligned with user needs in the digital era.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of Sharia investment literacy, religiosity, and risk profile on investment decision-making among users of the Bibit platform, with gender serving as a moderating variable. Although financial technology usage has surged among Millennials and Generation Z, participation in Sharia-compliant investments remains relatively low. This gap may be attributed to limited Sharia investment literacy, varying degrees of religiosity, and diverse individual risk profiles. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 221 Muslim investors on the Bibit platform via an online survey and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results indicate that both Sharia investment literacy and religiosity significantly and positively influence investment decisions, whereas risk profile shows no significant effect. Additionally, gender moderates the relationship between religiosity and investment decisions, but does not moderate the effects of Sharia investment literacy or risk profile. These findings offer valuable insights for financial platform developers and policymakers seeking to enhance Sharia investment engagement through targeted literacy programs and inclusive, gender-sensitive strategies for younger demographics.

Abstract

Social capital is widely recognised as a cornerstone of inclusive development and social resilience in Indonesia. This article critically synthesises how Indonesian sociological research has conceptualised and applied social capital over the past two decades through a systematic review that adheres to PRISMA reporting standards. Searches in Google Scholar, Garuda, and DOAJ (1 January 2000 – 30 April 2024) returned 872 records; after de-duplication and screening, 41 peer-reviewed empirical articles were retained and analysed thematically. Four recurring themes emerge: (1) social capital as a driver of post-disaster community resilience; (2) its role in participatory development and village governance; (3) social capital’s ambivalent influence on exclusion and clientelism in urban–rural settings; and (4) the reconfiguration of social capital in digital environments during the COVID-19 pandemic. Theoretical orientation is dominated by Putnam (65.9 %), followed by Bourdieu (22.0 %) and Coleman (12.1 %). Although most studies highlight beneficial outcomes, only 19.5 % explicitly interrogate power, inequality, or dysfunctional social capital issues. The review confirms social capital’s explanatory reach yet underscores conceptual saturation and methodological conservatism, particularly an over-reliance on cross-sectional surveys and a paucity of intersectional or longitudinal designs. Future research should diversify theoretical frameworks, adopt mixed-methods and network-analytic approaches, and examine gendered and digital dimensions to advance Indonesian sociology’s understanding of social capital.

Abstract

The current systematic literature review is intended to capture the extent of research on business sustainability strategy. Using PRISMA, a systematic search was conducted on Scopus and WoS databases published between January 2010 and October 2024, resulting in 3 articles that met the inclusion criteria. The synthesis results of these articles indicate that business sustainability strategy has been carried out in the kibbutz industry, human resources, and sector specialization based on mergers and acquisitions. In addition, research results were also collected in the agriculture and military, manufacturing, and services industries. Furthermore, contingency theory is one of the theories used to explain this relationship. This study provides theoretical and practical contributions as well as directions for future research.
