Abstract

This study investigates the influence of job satisfaction on employee performance, the impact of work motivation on job satisfaction, and the mediating role of job satisfaction in the relationship between motivation and performance among civil servants working at the Secretariat of the Regional House of Representatives (Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat Daerah, DPRD) of Konawe Regency, Indonesia. A total of 53 employees participated as respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires and in-depth interviews. The Partial Least Squares (PLS) method was used to test the hypotheses, complemented by qualitative analysis to deepen understanding of the findings. Results indicate a strong correlation between motivation, job satisfaction, and performance, suggesting that increased motivation and satisfaction lead to better employee outcomes. However, intrinsic motivation alone is insufficient; external support, such as effective managerial practices, is needed to enhance performance. The findings underscore the significant mediating role of job satisfaction in the link between motivation and performance. Based on these insights, the study recommends that the DPRD Secretariat and related government institutions adopt targeted interventions to improve employee engagement and performance.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of leadership style, organizational environment, and good governance on employee motivation and performance at the Southeast Sulawesi Provincial Plantation and Horticulture Office. Using a quantitative approach and Partial Least Squares (PLS) analysis, data were collected from employees within the same institution. The results reveal that leadership, governance, and a conducive organizational environment significantly enhance employee motivation. However, the direct impact of the organizational environment on performance appears limited, suggesting that employees may not prioritize environmental factors when evaluating their performance. The study highlights that effective leadership and strong governance structures play a crucial role in fostering motivation, leading to improved performance. These findings emphasize integrating governance and leadership strategies to support sustainable institutional success.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of social media adoption and halal orientation on the business performance of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia’s food and beverage (F&B) sector. It also examines the moderating role of government policy in the relationship between halal orientation and business performance. Previous studies have emphasised the strategic importance of social media in enhancing MSME competitiveness, especially amid increasing digitalisation in Indonesia. Data were collected from 372 MSMEs in Jakarta, Indonesia, using purposive sampling based on the Krejcie and Morgan sample size guidelines. Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was employed to analyze the data. The results show that government policy significantly moderates the positive effect of halal orientation on business performance, highlighting the critical role of institutional support. This study addresses a gap in the literature concerning the interaction between religious value alignment, digital tool adoption, and external policy support. Nevertheless, the findings are context-specific and may not be generalizable beyond Jakarta. Future research should refine construct measurements related to social media adoption, entrepreneurial orientation, and government support using validated reflective indicators to enhance reliability and broader applicability.

Abstract

The long-standing tin mining industry in the Bangka Belitung Islands has left a legacy of complex ecological crises, including thousands of abandoned mining pits (kolong), land degradation, and the dislocation of local livelihoods. This study examines how local communities reconstruct their livelihood strategies within a post-extractive landscape characterized by ecological subordination, institutional fragmentation, and asymmetrical power relations. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach through content and critical discourse analysis of policy documents, institutional reports, scholarly publications, and online media coverage, the research traces how national development narratives, policy frameworks, and media representations contribute to the socio-ecological marginalization of post-mining areas in Bangka Belitung. The findings reveal that although community initiatives, such as pit reclamation, participatory agro-tourism, and freshwater aquaculture, are emerging, these efforts are often constrained by unclear land access, weak institutional support, and structural exclusion in land governance. Livelihood transformation in post-mining contexts is not linear but unfolds through politicized processes marked by spatial conflict, community agency, and contested resource control. The study underscores the need for recovery policies that are not merely technocratic, but socially and ecologically transformative, positioning local communities as principal actors. The practical implications point to reforming post-mining governance in a contextualized, participatory, and locally grounded manner to achieve long-term sustainability and ecological justice in extractive-affected regions.

Abstract

This study explores the emergence of a new culture within the radio broadcasting industry, focusing on transformations in radio programs' production, distribution, and consumption. The new culture refers to shifts driven by digital transformation, significantly altering media practices. While previous studies have largely examined digitalization in mainstream or commercial media, little attention has been given to its impact on government-owned and community-based radio stations. To address this gap, the study employs a qualitative case study approach, examining two local broadcasting institutions in Indonesia: Serang Gawe FM, a Local Public Broadcasting Institution (LPBI; Lembaga Penyiaran Publik Lokal or LPPL) operated by the Serang Regency Government, and TiRTA FM, a student-run community radio station at Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and limited participatory observation, and analyzed through coding and thematic interpretation. Findings reveal that integrating internet-based technologies and social media has introduced new cultural practices in broadcasting. These include using social media to promote programs, conduct live streams, and distribute content via audio streaming platforms, resulting in greater audience reach and enhanced interactivity. The digital transformation has redefined the roles of broadcasters and listeners, fostering more participatory and dynamic communication. Furthermore, it enables local radio stations to connect with audience segments beyond the limitations of traditional FM signal coverage. This study contributes to ongoing discussions on media convergence and digital transformation by demonstrating that these developments are both technological and cultural. It emphasizes the importance of institutional adaptability and highlights the evolving relationship between media producers and audiences in the digital era.

Abstract

Bandung Regency Regional Regulation Number 7 of 2020 regarding the development of 100 tourism villages does not explicitly regulate the governance mechanism of tourism villages. Effective governance requires the involvement of individuals as local creators who are capable of initiating and sustaining tourism village management. This study aims to identify the qualities of local creators in driving tourism village governance and determining the sustainability of tourism village communities in Bandung Regency. This research employs a qualitative approach using primary data through observation, interviews, and focus group discussions, as well as secondary data obtained from village records. The informants consist of 23 individuals analyzed at the individual level. Data analysis includes the stages of data reduction, data display, verification, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that local initiators with strong leadership, education, experience, capacity, and innovative initiatives serve as local creators capable of mobilizing tourism village governance mechanisms. They operate through penta-helix collaboration, role-sharing dialogues, and profit distribution to ensure community sustainability. Community sustainability is marked by regional and national achievements based on indicators such as increasing tourist numbers, economic gains, and culturally and environmentally based development. Local creators and governance structures interact dynamically to ensure the long-term sustainability of tourism village communities. In conclusion, competent local creators act as key agents in driving adaptive and transformative governance mechanisms that ensure the sustainability of rural tourism communities in Bandung Regency.

Abstract

This study explores the model of inter-regional cooperation in managing the Tumpak Sewu Waterfall tourist attraction, using three analytical lenses: legal-administrative, community politics, and inter-organizational politics. The research adopts a qualitative method with a case study design. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews, field observations, focus group discussions (FGDs), and document analysis. The data analysis follows the interactive model developed by Miles, Huberman, and Saldana, encompassing data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Findings indicate that, from a legal-administrative perspective, a formal cooperation agreement between the Lumajang and Malang Regency Governments is urgently needed. The East Java Provincial Government is expected to facilitate this process to resolve ongoing jurisdictional disputes. From the community politics perspective, local stakeholders have demonstrated collective awareness and commitment to preserving and promoting the area's ecotourism potential. However, social tensions remain, particularly due to the dual ticketing practice, whereby visitors are charged both by the Sidomulyo Village Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) at the main entrance and by Sidorenggo residents at the base of the waterfall. From the perspective of inter-organizational politics, each regency government continues to pursue its institutional interests, preventing consensus on the administrative status of the Tumpak Sewu (also known as Coban Sewu) site. This lack of coordination has strained grassroots relations and hindered the implementation of integrated tourism management between the villages of Sidomulyo and Sidorenggo.

Abstract

This study examines social cohesion within the family and the potential threats posed by social media use in the digital era. It focuses on identifying specific forms of disruption to family cohesion and the adaptive strategies families employ in response. The research was conducted in Padang City using a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and participatory observation, with families as the unit of analysis. The data analysis followed a three-stage interactive model comprising data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that social media negatively affects familial relationships, as reflected in altered communication patterns, reduced empathy and concern, stronger privacy boundaries, and the emergence of mutual suspicion. In response, families adopt strategies such as mindful management of social media use, heightened awareness of digital risks, and the reinforcement of interpersonal communication to preserve social cohesion within the household.

Abstract

Income inequality and economic marginalization continue to affect indigenous women in Eastern Indonesia, particularly those engaged in informal economic activities such as traditional market trading. These women often act as primary breadwinners, managing household finances under persistent income constraints. This study investigates how financial capability, the combined influence of financial knowledge and attitude, affects financial management behavior among indigenous women micro-entrepreneurs. Using a quantitative explanatory design, data were collected through structured questionnaires from 82 active traders in Jayapura Regency and analyzed using multiple regression techniques. The findings show that both financial knowledge and attitude have a statistically significant and positive impact on financial management, individually and collectively. These results suggest that strengthening financial capability is crucial for enhancing indigenous women's economic resilience and decision-making autonomy in the informal economy. This study contributes to the literature on gendered financial behavior and provides practical insights for local governments and development agencies aiming to design targeted financial literacy interventions in marginalized communities.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of personality, competence, and performance on organizational commitment in Islamic banks, with Islamic Work Ethics (IWE) serving as a mediating variable. Conducted in North Maluku, Indonesia, the research employs a quantitative explanatory design and utilizes structural equation modeling (SEM) with AMOS 24.0 to test the proposed relationships. Data were obtained through closed-ended questionnaires distributed to 175 employees selected via probability sampling across several Islamic banking institutions. The findings reveal that personality and performance have a significant positive effect on organizational commitment, whereas competence does not exert a direct influence. Furthermore, IWE significantly contributes to strengthening organizational commitment by embedding ethical values into workplace behavior. Personality and competence both positively affect the application of IWE, which in turn mediates their relationship with organizational commitment. These results underscore the strategic importance of fostering competence through conflict management training, enhancing the internalization of Islamic ethical principles, and promoting innovation in service delivery.
