Abstract

The 2022 SSGI data show that 20.8% of children under five in Central Java experience stunting, with the highest prevalence found in Brebes Regency at 29.1%. Mothers play a crucial role in preventing stunting among children. Health education utilizing digital technology is one of the strategies that can be applied to address this issue. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of digital technology–based health education on improving mothers’ knowledge regarding stunting prevention in Bojong Village, Brebes Regency. A quasi-experimental design with a pre–post test control group was employed, involving 42 respondents divided into an experimental group (education through video followed by WhatsApp Group follow-up) and a control group (oral education). The results showed a significant increase in knowledge scores in both groups (p<0.05), from 2.71 to 9.9 in the experimental group and from 3.76 to 7.76 in the control group. It can be concluded that nutritional education delivered through both digital media and oral communication is equally effective in improving mothers’ knowledge about stunting prevention.

Abstract

. Indonesian National Police (Polri) members are state officials who play a strategic role in maintaining security, order, law enforcement, and providing protection, care, and service to the community. As civil servants of the Indonesian National Police (POLRI), Polri members are required to be in excellent health to optimally carry out their duties and responsibilities. One of the challenges faced is adherence to medication, especially for Polri members undergoing medical treatment. Medication adherence is a crucial factor in successful treatment, and one determinant that can influence adherence is family support. This study aims to describe the relationship between medication adherence and family support among Polri members undergoing treatment at the Papua Regional Police Medical and Health Unit. The research method used is descriptive quantitative, namely research that focuses on describing social phenomena through numerical data obtained from measurements and analyzed statistically. This study does not aim to test hypotheses, but rather to explain the characteristics and trends that emerge from the data obtained. The results show that of the 24 respondents with high medication adherence, 17 (70.8%) received high family support. These findings confirm that family support significantly contributes to the level of compliance of Indonesian National Police (Polri) members with their medication. Therefore, the role of the family needs to be given greater attention in efforts to improve the success of treatment, particularly among Polri members. The study concluded that the better the family support received, the higher the level of medication compliance, which ultimately positively impacts the health of Polri members.

Abstract

Breastfeeding success often faces various challenges, one of which is the infant’s anatomical condition, such as a lip tie. Successful breastfeeding can be achieved if mothers and infants develop good breastfeeding skills, including correct LATCH technique. This study aims to determine the effect of breastfeeding education on breastfeeding effectiveness using the LATCH method among postpartum mothers with infants with lip tie at Krakatau Medika Hospital Cilegon. The research design was a quasi-experiment with a one-group pretest–posttest approach. The study population included all breastfeeding mothers with infants diagnosed with lip tie, with a total sample of 29 participants selected through accidental sampling. The results showed that the rate of effective breastfeeding with good attachment before the education was 13.8% and increased to 41.4% after the education, with the mean breastfeeding effectiveness score rising from 4.86 to 6.97. The paired t-test revealed a significant difference between LATCH scores before and after the education (p < 0.001). It is recommended that Krakatau Medika Hospital develop a standard operating procedure (SOP) for breastfeeding education using the LATCH method.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the relationship between nurses’ caring behavior and the satisfaction of inpatients at Banjarmasin Islamic Hospital. Caring is the core of nursing practice, encompassing a holistic concern for patients, while patient satisfaction is an important indicator of healthcare quality. This study employed a quantitative research design. The population consisted of all inpatients at Banjarmasin Islamic Hospital, resulting in a total of 100 respondents. The instruments used were a caring behavior questionnaire based on Jean Watson’s theory and a patient satisfaction questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank test with a significance level of 0.01. The results showed that most nurses were perceived as having good caring behavior, and the majority of patients reported being satisfied with the services provided. Statistical testing revealed a significant relationship between nurses’ caring behavior and inpatient satisfaction (p-value = 0.01; r = 0.504), with the strength of the relationship categorized as moderate. The study concludes that the better the nurses’ caring behavior, the higher the level of patient satisfaction. It is recommended that the hospital continue to enhance nurses’ caring competence through training, supervision, and regular evaluation, so that the quality of nursing services and patient satisfaction can be continuously improved.

Abstract

Mimosine is an aromatic amino acid found in Mimosa pudica L. (sensitive plant) and is known to possess toxic properties that can damage various organs, including the kidneys. This study aimed to investigate the effect of ethanolic root extract of Mimosa pudica on renal damage in mice (Mus musculus). Twelve mice were divided into four groups: a control group and three treatment groups that received ethanolic root extract of M. pudica at doses of 10 mg/mouse/14 days, 100 mg/mouse/14 days, and 1000 mg/mouse/14 days. Following treatment, the mice were dissected to measure serum creatinine levels as an indicator of renal function, and histopathological observations of kidney tissues were performed using Hematoxylin-Eosin staining. The results revealed that administration of the ethanolic root extract of M. pudica significantly increased serum creatinine levels (P < 0.05), indicating impaired renal filtration function. Histologically, several types of tissue damage were observed, including glomerular atrophy, hydropic degeneration, and cellular necrosis, with hydropic degeneration being the most predominant and glomerular atrophy the least frequent. These findings suggest that mimosine, an active compound in M. pudica roots, exhibits a dose-dependent nephrotoxic effect, where increasing extract concentrations exacerbate renal tissue damage. Therefore, caution is advised in the medicinal use of M. pudica, as despite its pharmacological potential, high-dose or prolonged exposure may pose a serious risk of renal dysfunction.

Abstract

Background: Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) in Indonesia remains a significant health challenge, with the majority of deaths related to preventable pregnancy complications. Empowering pregnant women through increased knowledge and skills in early detection is a key strategy to encourage timely care seeking. Objective: To review and analyze policies and implementation of programs empowering pregnant women in early detection of complications in Indonesia over the past five years (2020–2025), including policy frameworks, implementation models, research findings related to impacts and barriers, and policy recommendations. Methods: A scoping review using the Population-Concept-Context (PCC) approach was conducted. The literature search included scientific publications, national policy documents, and program reports published between 2020–2025. Relevant works included quasi-experimental studies, program reports, and policy documents. Main results: Maternal empowerment programs are driven by national policies to improve maternal health literacy and reduce MMR. Implementation is often integrated into Pregnant Women's Classes (KIH) or through digital media. Educational interventions have shown significant improvements in maternal knowledge of danger signs, but challenges include the low quality and availability of educational materials, as well as issues with outreach to mothers in remote areas. Conclusion: Empowering pregnant women in early detection is an important policy initiative to reduce maternal mortality. However, standardization of the curriculum, strengthening the role of cadres, and increased digital support are needed to ensure equitable reach and effectiveness.
