Abstract

This study aimed to examine the relationship between nurses’ caring behavior and the satisfaction of inpatients at Banjarmasin Islamic Hospital. Caring is the core of nursing practice, encompassing a holistic concern for patients, while patient satisfaction is an important indicator of healthcare quality. This study employed a quantitative research design. The population consisted of all inpatients at Banjarmasin Islamic Hospital, resulting in a total of 100 respondents. The instruments used were a caring behavior questionnaire based on Jean Watson’s theory and a patient satisfaction questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank test with a significance level of 0.01. The results showed that most nurses were perceived as having good caring behavior, and the majority of patients reported being satisfied with the services provided. Statistical testing revealed a significant relationship between nurses’ caring behavior and inpatient satisfaction (p-value = 0.01; r = 0.504), with the strength of the relationship categorized as moderate. The study concludes that the better the nurses’ caring behavior, the higher the level of patient satisfaction. It is recommended that the hospital continue to enhance nurses’ caring competence through training, supervision, and regular evaluation, so that the quality of nursing services and patient satisfaction can be continuously improved.

Abstract

Background: Interaction between people is facilitated by communication. The self concept might take on a positive or negative form. Gen Z is unique among current generations. Not just for the social structure they have come up in, but also for their spending habits, which differ from other generations. Objective: to investigate the possible relationship between generation Z nursing students' interpersonal communication skills and their self concept. Methods: A cross-sectional approach to correlation analysis was used in the research technique. The instruments were questionnaires and observations. The research sample consisted of 70 seventh semester preprofessional nursing students from Banjarmasin, selected using a total sampling technique. The Spearmen Rank Correlation test was utilized in this investigation. Results: indicated that 95.7% of students exhibited a good self concept, whereas 78.6% of students had intermediate levels of interpersonal communication abilities. The statistical test results showed a significant link (p < 0.05) between nursing students' self concept and their interpersonal communication skills. Conclusion: Students have a positive self concept, but clinical practice experience and social media influence their interpersonal communication skills. Suggestion: It is necessary to develop a program to improve both the positive nursing student’s self concept and teaching learning methods suitable for Z generation nurses to their communication abilities.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Midwives who work in delivery and postpartum rooms have the notion that working in these rooms is related to the safety of two lives, the mother and the baby. The safety of the conditions of the two patients being treated made it possible to attack the midwife's emotions. Efforts made to reduce pressure with this psychological crisis can be in the form of good self-control. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between self-control and work stress in midwives at the hospital. The research design was quantitative using correlative analytic with a cross sectional approach. The instruments used are The Brief Self Control Scale (BSCS) and Expanded Nursing Stress Scale (ENSS). The research was conducted at two hospitals in Banjarmasin. The total population of midwives in the delivery and postpartum wards is 55 people. The samples obtained were 33 people taken by simple random sampling technique. Data analysis used the Spearman-Rho Correlation Test with a significance of α 0.05. The results obtained are that there was a relationship between self-control and work stress of midwives. Sig. Value (2-tailed) is 0.022 which means (ρ < α 0.05) and the correlation coefficient is -0.398 (Moderate correlation). There is a moderate negative relationship between self-control and work stress, where the higher the self-control, the lower the work stress, and vice versa. Keywords: Delivery and Postpartum Wards, Midwives, Self-Control, Work Stress  ABSTRAK Bagi bidan yang bekerja di ruang bersalin dan nifas memiliki anggapan bahwa bekerja di ruang tersebut berkaitkan dengan keselamatan dua nyawa, yaitu ibu dan calon bayi. Abstract

Infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus are an increasing concern in the healthcare sector, particularly due to the rise of antibiotic-resistant strains. Natural products provide a promising alternative source for discovering new antibacterial and antibiofilm agents. This study aimed to evaluate the antibiofilm activity of five plant species natives to Kalimantan Island against S. aureus. Plant materials were extracted using the ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) method with 70% ethanol at 40 kHz and temperature of 30 °C for 30 minutes. Phytochemical screening was performed using standard qualitative tests to detect major secondary metabolite groups, including alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and terpenoids. The antibiofilm assay was carried out using a spectrophotometric microplate method, where biofilm formation was quantified in the presence of plant extracts (500 ppm) compared to negative control (solvent). Data were analyzed statistically using ANOVA (p < 0.05) followed by post-hoc tests to determine significant differences among samples. Among the tested extracts, the gelinggang extract exhibited the strongest antibiofilm effect, inhibiting biofilm formation by 84.39 ± 7.21 %, followed by sangkareho (70.63 ± 7.29 %), kratom (66.54 ± 6.11 %) and matoa (58.36 ± 5.91 %). While, limpasu showed the weakest antibiofilm activity (18.22 ± 1.21 %) in this study. The observed activity may be attributed to the presence of phenolic and flavonoid compounds known to disrupt quorum sensing and biofilm matrix synthesis. These findings highlight the potential of Kalimantan’s native plants, particularly gelinggang, as promising sources of natural antibiofilm agents for combating antibiotic-resistant S. aureus infections.
