Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of using educational chessboard media on the critical thinking skills of fourth-grade students at UPT SPF SD Negeri Kompleks IKIP 1 Makassar. This study applied a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, specifically the Nonequivalent Control Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The research population consisted of all 444 fourth-grade students, with a sample of 72 students selected through cluster sampling. Class IV-A served as the experimental group (???? = 36), which received learning assisted by educational chessboard media, while Class IV-B served as the control group (???? = 36), which followed conventional learning methods. Data were collected using an essay test instrument based on Robert Ennis's critical thinking indicators, observation sheets for learning implementation, and documentation. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics (Independent Sample T-Test) via IBM SPSS. The descriptive analysis results showed that the post-test mean score of the experimental class (84.03) was higher than that of the control class (65.92). Furthermore, the N-Gain analysis indicated that the experimental class achieved an average gain of 0.61 (medium category), whereas the control class only achieved 0.19 (low category). The hypothesis testing using the Independent Sample T-Test yielded a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000, which is smaller than 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05). Consequently, the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted. This study concludes that the use of educational chessboard media has a significant effect on improving the critical thinking skills of fourth-grade elementary school students.

Abstract

This study aims to describe efforts to strengthen literacy and numeracy through reading, writing, and counting activities at SMP Negeri 44 Bandar Lampung. The background of this study is based on the importance of improving students’ literacy and numeracy skills as a foundation for facing the challenges of 21st-century learning. The method employed was a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observation and documentation. The activities implemented included reading habituation, structured writing exercises, and contextual counting activities integrated into the learning process. The findings indicate that the consistent implementation of reading, writing, and counting activities enhances students’ reading comprehension, written expression skills, as well as logical thinking and mathematical problem-solving abilities. Therefore, strengthening literacy and numeracy through simple yet structured activities can serve as an effective strategy to improve the quality of learning in schools.

Abstract

The increasing use of fossil-fuel-powered vehicles has led to high carbon emissions and air pollution, making it necessary to develop more environmentally friendly and inclusive transportation options. This study aims to design and build a three-wheeled electric bicycle with a solar panel–battery hybrid system as an efficient, stable, and accessible transportation alternative for a wide range of users. The research method employed was Research and Development (R&D), which included the design, assembly, functional testing, and vehicle performance analysis phases. The developed system utilizes a 650 W BLDC motor, a 48 V 20 Ah Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) battery, and a 200 Wp flexible monocrystalline solar panel as an additional energy source. Testing was conducted in three speed modes—Eco, Medium, and Sport—as well as battery charging tests using the solar panel while the vehicle was stationary. The results showed that Eco mode produced the highest average range of 54.4 km, followed by Medium mode at 46.2 km and Sport mode at 38.5 km. Additionally, charging the battery using the solar panel in a horizontal position took an average of 333 minutes. The results of the study show that the solar panel–battery hybrid system is capable of effectively supporting the operation of electric bicycles and providing a more environmentally friendly, energy-efficient, and inclusive transportation alternative.

Abstract

Adolescence is a crucial developmental period marked by an increased need for social relationships, particularly friendships. However, not all friendships positively influence adolescent development. One form of relationship that can have a significant negative impact is toxic friendship, which is generally characterized by harmful and manipulative behavior and a lack of genuine emotional support. This phenomenon is increasingly common among adolescents today and has the potential to significantly impact various important aspects of their lives. This article aims to examine in-depth the impact of toxic friendships on adolescents' mental health and academic achievement. The method used in this research is a literature review, which examined various relevant journals and scientific articles. Comprehensive data was obtained from credible academic sources that discuss the relationship between friendship quality, psychological well-being, and academic achievement in adolescents. The results indicate that toxic friendships can cause chronic stress, anxiety, feelings of worthlessness, and low self-esteem, significantly reducing adolescents' psychological well-being. Furthermore, these unhealthy friendships have also been shown to disrupt concentration in learning, decrease academic motivation, and ultimately lead to decreased academic achievement. Therefore, concrete preventative measures are needed through education about the importance of healthy friendships, improving interpersonal communication skills, and providing strong emotional support from family and school. With a positive and supportive social environment, adolescents can develop optimally, both mentally and academically.

Abstract

The abstract and prosedural character of Algorithm and Programming material often makes it difficult for students to grasp without an interactive medium to support comprehension. At SMKS YPM 4 Taman, classroom instruction had relied mainly on printed modules and verbal explanation, leaving many students with only a partial grasp of the subject. This study set out to examine how the simulation feature embedded in Codin, a web-based learning medium, influences students' cognitive learning outcomes on the Algorithm and Programming element. Forty-five Grade X RPL students at SMKS YPM 4 Taman took part as research subjects, with data gathered through a pre-experimental, one-group pretest-posttest design. The collected data were processed using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, a Paired Samples T-Test, and an N-Gain calculation. Both pretest and posttest scores were found to be normally distributed, with p-values of 0.063 and 0.408. The Paired Samples T-Test produced a p-value of 0.001, below the 0.05 threshold, pointing to a meaningful rise in cognitive learning outcomes once Codin was introduced. This rise was echoed in the N-Gain result, which averaged 0.689 and fell within the moderate category.

Abstract

Limited computer laboratory facilities and the absence of independent practice-based digital learning media in Informatics classes at SMKN 2 Surabaya became the starting point for this research. The study describes the development process and feasibility level of a Moodle Learning Management System (LMS) integrated with the CodeRunner plugin for the Algorithm and Programming element, while also examining differences in student learning outcomes. Research and Development (R&D) following the ADDIE model was applied together with a Quasi-Experimental design in the form of a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Tenth-grade Software Engineering (RPL) students at SMKN 2 Surabaya served as the research subjects, with class X RPL 2 acting as the experimental group and class X RPL 1 as the control group. Data were collected through tests and questionnaires, drawing on expert validation sheets, pre-test and post-test items, and the User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ). Descriptive feasibility analysis and the Man Whitney U-Test were used to analyze the data. Expert validation placed the media in the highly feasible category for classroom use. The Independent Sample T-Test further showed a significant difference in post-test results between the experimental and control classes, with the auto-checker and automatic feedback features in the experimental class driving more optimal learning gains. Student responses captured through the UEQ likewise leaned positive regarding the media's usability. Taken together, these findings indicate that the CodeRunner-integrated Moodle LMS is valid and effective for improving student learning outcomes, and Informatics teachers are encouraged to adopt this media to support independent programming practice.

Abstract

Students' cognitive abilities in the Web Programming element at the vocational secondary school level remain a persistent challenge in the implementation of Phase F of the Merdeka Curriculum, particularly in the mastery of programming concepts and problem-solving within lines of program code. This study aims to analyze the improvement of cognitive abilities among Class XI RPL students at SMKS YPM 4 Taman in the Web Programming element following the use of a website-based Learning Management System (LMS) entitled WeBoost, integrated with the Problem Based Learning (PBL) instructional model. The study employed a one-group pretest-posttest design conducted from April 20 to 29, 2026. Cognitive ability data were collected through pre-test and post-test instruments that had been validated by subject matter experts, yielding a validity percentage of 98.75%, categorized as Very Valid. Inferential analysis using the Paired Sample T-Test revealed a calculated t-value of 34.88 with 40 degrees of freedom (df) and a p-value of less than 0.001, indicating a statistically significant difference in students' cognitive abilities between the pre-intervention and post-intervention conditions. The magnitude of cognitive improvement was further assessed using the Normalized Gain (N-Gain) test, which produced a mean score of 0.721, classified within the high gain category. These findings indicate that LMS WeBoost is both significantly and effectively capable of enhancing students' cognitive abilities in the Web Programming element of Phase F.

Abstract

This study designs the user interface and user experience (UI/UX) of the "B-Side" application, a dedicated e-marketplace for minor defect clothing. This innovation integrates the circular economy to support the 12th Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs) on responsible consumption and production. The design utilizes the Design Thinking method with five stages: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. Since consumer reluctance to purchase minor defect clothing stems from doubts about the items' visual condition, the interface prioritizes transparency features, such as the Defect Highlight System, Defect Grading System, and product hygiene assurance. Usability testing was conducted online via the Maze platform, followed by satisfaction measurement using the System Usability Scale (SUS) questionnaire. Evaluation results show the B-Side prototype achieved an average SUS score of 86.25, placing it in the "Excellent" category, Grade A, and "Acceptable" status. In conclusion, B-Side's UI/UX design is highly intuitive, successfully mitigates consumer perceived risk, and effectively builds digital transactional trust to support sustainable fashion.

Abstract

Database learning at SMK Negeri Tambakboyo still relies on multiple platforms, resulting in learning activities that are not integrated into a single system. This condition causes the delivery of learning materials, assignment submission, and learning management to be less organized. This study aims to develop a Moodle-based LMS called “SIPANDA” to support Problem Based Learning (PBL) in the Database subject for Grade XI Software Engineering students and to determine users’ acceptance of the developed system. This research employed the R&D method using the ADDIE development model. The research subjects consisted of 34 students and one Database teacher at SMK Negeri Tambakboyo. Data were gathered through observations, interviews, expert validations, Blackbox Testing, and the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative techniques. The results showed that “SIPANDA” was successfully developed in accordance with learning needs. The validation results obtained scores of 93% from media experts, 91% from subject matter experts, and 91% from instructional module experts, all categorized as highly feasible. Blackbox Testing indicated that all system features functioned properly according to their intended design. Furthermore, the TAM evaluation demonstrated a very high level of user acceptance across all measured constructs. Therefore, “SIPANDA” is considered highly feasible and well accepted as a learning medium to support the implementation of Problem Based Learning in the Database subject.

Abstract

XYZ Company has implemented Internet of Things (IoT) technology to support production and monitoring activities. However, concerns regarding the accuracy of system-generated data remain. This study aims to analyze IoT Technology Acceptance using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) extended with Trust and Perceived Enjoyment variables. A Mixed Methods approach was employed involving 35 IoT system users. The results indicate that all relationships in the model were significant except the effects of Trust on Perceived Usefulness and Perceived Ease of Use. Qualitative findings reinforced the quantitative results, showing that IoT Technology Acceptance was primarily influenced by Perceived Usefulness, Perceived Ease of Use, and Perceived Enjoyment. Therefore, the extended TAM effectively explains IoT Technology Acceptance at XYZ Company.
