Abstract

Utilization of coconut pulp fiber is still low so that it can be used in the pharmaceutical industry. This study aims to determine the physical characteristics of morphology, pH, and flow time of coconut pulp fiber powder as a filler in pharmaceutical preparations. The procedure of this research was started by making coconut pulp fiber powder, morphological characteristic test, pH test, and flow time test. The results of this study are: (1) Morphological characteristics test, coconut pulp fiber powder has a slightly yellowish white color, tasteless, odorless, and roughness of 426-600 m which means it is in accordance with pharmaceutical grade; (2) the pH of the powder is 6.43 which means it is close to neutral; and (3) the flow time test showed a result of 4.73 grams/second, which means the powder can flow well. In conclusion, coconut pulp powder can be used as a filler in pharmaceutical preparations.

Abstract

Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) is one of the rare causes of ACS cases but is increasing in incidence in young women with low cardiovascular risk assessment. In addition, SCAD has risk factors for pregnancy and fibromuscular dysplasia. Establishing the diagnosis of SCAD by coronary angiography is a challenge because the characteristics of SCAD are similar to other causes of ACS and often missed. It is hoped that SCAD can be a research concern to support diagnosis and management to produce better outcomes. Keywords: coronary artery spontaneous dissection, diagnosis, management, acute coronary syndrome Abstrak Diseksi spontan arteri koroner (Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection: SCAD) salah satu penyebab kasus SKA yang jarang tetapi meningkat insidensi pada wanita muda dengan penilaian risiko kardivaskular rendah. Abstract

As stated by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a global pandemic on March 11, 2020, Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19), a disease caused by the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2), [1]. For suspected and confirmed Covid-19 patients with mild symptoms, the use of antibiotic drugs is not recommended, both for therapy and prevention [2] .After WHO declared Covid-19 a global pandemic, RSUD dr. La Palaloi is one of the hospitals appointed by the government as a referral hospital for handling Covid-19 in Maros district, South Sulawesi. Comorbidity is one of the factors that causes the mortality rate in patients infected with Covid-19 to increase. The purpose of this study was to describe the pattern of prescribing Covid-19 drugs for comorbid patients. The research method used is a retrospective research method to determine the pattern of Covid-19 treatment with comorbid patients at dr. La Palaloi. The most common comorbidity is hypertension. The most antibiotics given to Covid-19 patients were Azithromycin and the most Antibiotics were Oseltamivir. Treatment for the first Covid-19 patient was given antibiotics and antivirals. Treatment for antihypertensives is the CCB group, for the treatment of diabetes is insulin, and for the treatment of bronchopneumonia, antibiotics are given.

Abstract

Thalassemia is a heterogeneous grouping of genetic disorders resulting from decreased synthesis of the alpha or beta chains of hemoglobin. Anemia and iron overload are the main causes of morbidity and mortality due to thalassemia disease. Iron chelation has improved the survival and quality of life of patients with thalassemia major. Deferasirox (DFX) was developed as monotherapy for the treatment of transfusion iron overload. Search data in this literature study using an electronic database, namely Science Direct, Pubmed with the keywords thalassemia, deferasirox and efficacy. The search results obtained 1015 articles and 5 articles that matched the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The total patients in this study were 410 people from 5 countries. The results of the review article found that deferasirox was effective in reducing iron in the body as seen from the LIC (Liver Iron Concentration), T2* heart and serum ferritin in patients with thalassemia major.

Abstract

Patients with acute and chronic kidney failure generally have accompanying diseases so many drugs are often prescribed. The increasing complexity of the drugs used will lead to an increased risk of drug interaction events, potentially affecting the success of the patient's therapy. This study aims determine the potential of drug interactions of patients with kidney failure inpatient of Panglima Sebaya Hospital. This research is a descriptive study retrospectively with purposive sampling techniques. The results of the study of 64 medical records of patients who qualified for inclusion showed that the characteristics of the most patients were men as many as 34 patients (53.13%), ages ranging from 46-55 years (early elderly) as many as 19 patients (29.69%), with the number of diseases accompanying 1-2 diseases as many as 50 patients (78.13%) such as anemia as many as 27 patients (28.13%). The total use of 6-10 drugs was mostly given to 31 patients (48.44%) in the form of cardiovascular system drugs which is 149 prescribing (31.17%). The potential drug interactions found were 12% minor, 80% moderate, and 8% major. Keywords: Kidney failure, Drug interaction, Treatment pattern Abstrak Pasien gagal ginjal akut maupun kronik umumnya memiliki penyakit penyerta sehingga banyak obat yang sering diresepkan. Abstract

Obesity is one of the comorbidities of COVID-19 which has been widely reported to have an effect on the care patients needed. This study was carried out using a Systematic Review approach to explore the effects and mechanisms that occur due to obesity in COVID-19 patients. A total of 23 articles were reviewed after selecting on various predetermined article criteria. The results shown that there was a contribution of obesity in COVID-19 patients based on the type of treatment, length of treatment, need for intensive care, severity and increased risk of death. It is recommended to maintain a healthy lifestyle while maintaining a normal weight and doing physical activity and exercise every day with a minimum duration of 30 minutes. Thus, it can reduce the accumulation of macrophages in adipose tissue, so if infect COVID-19 do not cause a cytokine storm because chronic inflammation due to obesity.
