Abstract

Voluntary blood donors are people who voluntarily donate their blood to other people and not to certain patients. Before blood is given to the recipient, a blood filter test or screening test is carried out. A screening test is a process of screening or separating blood that can be transfused and not infected with an infectious disease. Research has been conducted with the title Infectious Disease Screening Results and Hemoglobin (Hb) Levels in Voluntary Donors at the Indonesian Red Cross Blood Transfusion Unit, Jayapura City. This research was conducted for 1 month, from 13 May to 15 June 2019. The population used in this study were all voluntary donors who came to donate blood. The number of samples in this study was 45 samples. Methods for examining infectious diseases, in this case testing for HIV, HBsAg, and hemoglobin levels used were the ELISA method and Bj: 1.053 copper sulfate. 2 people (4.4%) were positive and 43 people (95.6%) negative, HBsAg test found 7 people (15.6%) positive and 38 people (84.4%) negative and Hemoglobin obtained results as many as 45 people (100%) normal.

Abstract

Determination of phenolic content using uv-visible and measured IC50 as antioxidant of saputangan leaves. Methods: Screening was used FeCl3, NH3, Alkali and Pb(CH3COO)2. The maceration process was carried out using ethanol as a solvent and soaked for more than 24 hours. The measurement of total flavonoid levels began with determining the maximum wavelength of quercetin, which was 442 nm. The linear regression equation for the resulting quercetin calibration curve was the equation y = 0.0155x + 0.0387 with a correlation value (R2) of 0.9943. The linear regression of antioxidant of saputangan leaves on percentage of inhibition is y = 0.6899x + 1.5616 with a correlation (R2) of 0.9895. The Maniltoa grandiflora (A. Gray) Scheff leaves contained flavonoid compounds which are proven based on the results of screening. Meanwhile, the weight of the extract after partitioning using ethyl acetate and n-hexane was 50 gr. Total flavonoid levels in Maniltoa grandiflora (A. Gray) Scheff leaves were 33.87 mg QE/g extract or 33.87%. IC50 value of 70.2108 ppm which was categorized as an antioxidant at the medium (medium) level. Conclusions: Total flavonoid content was 3.87 mg QE/g extract or 33.87% and categorized as antioxidant on medium level.

Abstract

Kombucha is a fermented tea by bacteria and fungi called SCOBY for 7-14 days. The presence of microorganism in kombucha after fermentation process leads to additional fermentation. The longer preservation time, the more acid kombucha. The more acid kombucha affects the level of vitamin C. So, it is important to heat kombucha to reduce the number of microbes (pasteurization). The aim of this study is to know the effect of pasteurization on vitamin C level in various kinds of kombucha. After 7 days of kombucha fermentation, the kombucha heated for 15 minutes in 80oC then, the vitamin C level of kombucha measured with Spectro photometer UV-Vis in ? 265 wavelenght. The result shows that pasteurization (80oC) in 15 minutes does effects the vitamin c level of various kinds of kombucha. It decreased the level of vitamin C of kombucha before heating.

Abstract

Peptic ulcer disease (PUD) is one of the most common gastrointestinal disorders in individuals aged 20-50 with 1081 cases of death (0.08%) in Indonesia. The main risk factors for PUD include the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, Helicobacter pylori infection, alcohol, smoking, and physical stress. Nowadays, PUD treatment has transformed using secondary metabolites of herbal plants to compete with allopathic treatment adverse effects. Through this systemic review, several herbal plant metabolites from various studies are responsible for gastroprotective, inhibition of certain neurotransmitters, proton pump repression, or different anti-inflammatory effects. The literature search was carried through extensive databases (PubMed, Science Direct, Semantic Scholar, Springer Link, SAGE, and Google Scholar) with keywords linked with PUD. The scope of the data investigated included plant species, groups of metabolites, in vivo application doses, metabolites mechanism of action, and analytical methods.

Abstract

Indonesian children are still experiencing a double burden of malnutrition, both in undernutrition and overnutrition. Based on study, there is an intergenerational effect, such as short condition of parents as a child will affect the next generation’s growth and development and will increase the risk of cognitive delay. This result of this study is expected to help and become a reference for local and national governments in order to manage strategies for handling malnutrition and to achieve national health resilience. This research is descriptive cross-sectional study with total sampling. The study used secondary data of 322 children under 5 years old from  Sungai Raya District Health Center from July-August 2021, originating from 7 unit health centre (posyandu). The data obtained in the form of age, body weight (BW), body length (BL)/height (BH) and classified according to the WHO curve (W/Age, BH/age, BW/BH) then calculate the Z score. The result showed that children under 5 yo in short and very short stature children were 13% and 19%. Children with overweight and obesity based on BW/BH in this study were 7 % and 5 %. In conclusion, there was a double burden malnutrition which exceeds the national average.

Abstract

Determining of the quality of honey reviewed from sucrose level with Luff Schoorl method had been done. On this research, 4 samples was taken and obtained from center market in Garut city. The samples were tested quantitatively by luff schoorl method. The principle of this method was iodometry because of iodide ion used as the basis for the determination of sugar levels. The results showed that sucrose level from 4 samples, such as A, B, C, and D honey were of 1.29; 9.12; 13.91; and 5.64% sequentially. These things showed that only A honey samples had sucrose level which corresponds to the rules of standard quality of honey, while the other three samples such as B, C, and D honey had the sucrose level did not match to the rules of standard quality.The quality standard of honey accordance to SNI 01-3545-2004 was ? 5%.

Abstract

Pandemi COVID-19 hingga saat ini masih mewabah di seluruh dunia, termasuk Indonesia. Kasus positif COVID-19 per-tanggal 22 Juli 2021, di Indonesia sebanyak 3.033.339 jiwa dengan angka kematian 79.032 jiwa. Imunostimulan merupakan zat yang dapat meningkatkan daya tahan tubuh terhadap infeksi, termasuk untuk menangkal infeksi virus corona. Imunostimulan dapat berasal dari bahan sintetis atau bahan alam.  Tanaman famili Malvaceae sering digunakan sebagai obat tradisional untuk mengobati diare, batuk, dan menjaga daya tahan tubuh. Review artikel ini bertujuan untuk memberikan informasi mengenai famili Malvaceae yang memiliki aktivitas imunostimulan. Metode yang digunakan dalam review artikel yaitu studi literatur secara online melalui berbagai database seperti Google Scholar, PubMed, dan ScienceDirect. Hasil review menunjukan tanaman Abelmoschus esculentus, Abelmoschus manihot L., Hibiscus sabdarifa L., Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L., Sterculia villosa Roxb., Luehea divaricata Mart. & Zucc., dan Sida cordifolia, menunjukan aktivitas imunostimulan. Spesies paling berpotensi sebagai agen imunostimulan, yaitu Sterculia villosa Roxb., karena mampu meningkatkan berbagai mediator dan sitokin pada sistem imun, serta telah dilakukan pengujian secara in vitro, in vivo, dan in silico terhadap senyawa lupeol dari Sterculia villosa Roxb., yang mampu meningkatkan daya tahan tubuh terhadap infeksi.

Abstract

Candida albicans (C. albicans) is one of commensal microorganisms. However, C. albicans can be a pathogen caused by several factors. In that case, it is necessary to establish compounds that effectively inhibit C. albicans with specific targets. This study used Sap 5 as the target for molecular docking because Sap 5 is related to tissue invasion. This study aimed to see the interaction between Mangiferin and the Sap 5 receptor of C. albicans by binding energy as the parameter so the research can be continued In vitro. The methods of this research are receptor and ligand preparation, Gridbox validation, molecular docking, and visualization. Mangiferin has -8.6190 Kcal/mol binding energy when bound with Sap 5 on the first try but is stable on -8.6179 Kcal/mol. Keywords: Candida albicans, Docking, In silico, Mangiferin, Sap 5 Abstrak Candida albicans (C. albicans) merupakan mikroorganisme komensal. Namun, C.albicans dapat berubah menjadi sifat patogen apabila disebabkan oleh beberapa faktor, sehingga perlu adanya penemuan senyawa-senyawa yang efektif untuk dapat menghambat C. albicans dengan spesifik pada target tertentu dari C. albicans sendiri. Kami memilih Sap 5 sebagai target dari penambatan, disebabkan erat kaitannya Sap 5 dengan terjadinya invasi jaringan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah memberikan hasil berupa apakah terdapat interaksi yang kuat antara senyawa Mangiferin dengan reseptor Sap 5 C. albicans dengan melihat energi bebas Gibbs, agar nanti dapat dilanjutkan dengan uji In vitro. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah preparasi reseptor dan ligan, validasi Gridbox, Penambatan dan Visualisasi hasil. Hasil yang diperoleh dari penambatan senyawa Mangiferin dengan reseptor Sap 5 pada energi bebas Gibbs pada ulangan ke satu sebesar -8.6190 Kcal/mol. Namun, hasil yang stabil dalam penambatan senyawa Mangiferin dengan Sap 5 yaitu berada pada nilai -8.6170 Kcal/mol. Kata Kunci: Candida albicans, Penambatan, In silico, Mangiferin, Sap 5

Abstract

Abstrak Pemanis buatan rendah kalori telah diklaim menjadi kelompok pemanis yang aman dan disarankan penggunaannya bagi penderita diabetes karena tidak mempengaruhi kadar glukosa darah pasien setelah konsumsinya. Sukralosa dan glikosida steviol merupakan pemanis rendah kalori yang umum ditemukan di Indonesia. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui karakteristik pasien pengidap diabetes melitus tipe 2, melihat profil kadar gula darah pasien setelah pemberian gula rendah kalori serta melihat perbandingan profil kenaikan kadar gula darah pasien antara produk sukralosa dan glikosida steviol. Metode penelitian true-eksperimental, dengan desain pra dan pasca tes pemilihan kelompok secara acak, serta purposive sampling sebagai metode pengambilan sampel. 15 pasien dibagi menjadi kelompok pembanding, kelompok perlakuan yang diberikan glikosida steviol dan kelompok perlakuan yang diberikan sukralosa dengan dosis 2,5 g kemudian diperiksa kadar gula darah di menit ke 0, 60, 120, dan 180. Hasil analisa diperoleh pengaruh setelah perlakuan pemberian gula rendah kalori, menit ke 60 terdapat kenaikan sebesar 7,9, di menit ke 120 kadarnya turun sebesar 13,5 dan di menit 180 terjadi penurunan sebesar 29,3 sedangkan untuk perbandingan profil kenaikan kadar gula darah pasien antara produk, glikosida steviol menaikkan kadar gula darah lebih tinggi=7,9 dibanding kelompok lain.

Abstract

Proteksi terhadap infeksi seperti pandemik virus dapat dihasilkan dengan meningkatkan imunitas tubuh. Tanaman obat yang diolah dan digunakan dengan baik mampu berpotensi meningkatkan imunitas tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas hemaglutinasi dan karakteristik ekstrak berbasis natural deep eutectic solvents (NADES) atau lebih dikenal dengan istilah green solvent dari akar Tapak Dara (Vinca rosea) dan daun Kadamba (Mitragyna speciosa Korth. Havil) untuk melihat aktivitas ekstrak tersebut dalam mempengaruhi kerja sistem imun dalam melawan antigen yang masuk kedalam tubuh. Proses ekstraksi dilakukan menggunakan metode ekstraksi non-konvensional NADES based microwave-assisted extraction (NADES-MAE) dengan kondisi ekstraksi yang sesuai. Uji hemaglutinasi dilakukan pada hewan coba mencit yang telah diinduksi sel darah merah kambing (SDMK) 1%, yang diukur berdasarkan jumlah titer. Karakterisasi ekstrak dilakukan menggunakan analisis ATR-FTIR dan kemometrik. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak Ekstrak Tapak Dara berbasis NADES memiliki aktivitas hemaglutinasi, sehingga berpotensi meningkatkan sistem imun tubuh. Ekstrak NADES tersebut dapat digunakan sebagai kandidat obat berbasis bahan alam sebagai preventif ataupun supportif dari inveksi virus SARS-CoV2 dan mengurangi gejala setelah terinfeksi. Selain itu, hasil identifikasi ekstrak berbasis NADES menggunakan ATR-FTIR dan kemometrik menunjukkan spesifisitas masing-masing ekstrak yang dihasilkan berdasarkan berbagai komposisi NADES yang digunakan pada kedua tanaman tersebut
