Abstract

 Dental and oral health is an essential part of overall bodily health. The high prevalence of caries and cavities in children is generally caused by a lack of tooth-brushing skills. Incorrect techniques and improper duration cause food residue to remain, which ultimately triggers the demineralization of the tooth enamel. This socialization activity aims to provide education on the importance of brushing teeth with correct and effective techniques for elementary school students. The activity was conducted at SDIT Al-Azhar Kediri City, using a practical and interactive simulation approach; starting with a PowerPoint presentation, followed by a demonstration of proper tooth-brushing techniques using teaching aids. There were 84 children involved in this activity, and the results showed that approximately 90% of the participants could correctly answer the questions provided. Consequently, this socialization activity successfully increased the participants' knowledge and understanding of maintaining dental and oral health

Abstract

The welfare of the community in the economic sector is one of the benchmarks for the welfare of the community, there are many people who experience poverty which is motivated by economic factors, the national amil zakat agency offers the jatim Makmur program. a program that really needs manpower considering that there are several workshop equipment that must be distributed to mustahik to do business. The method of assistance in the activities carried out by the national amil zakat agency of East Java province is an annual program activity, namely the Makmur program, which is carried out from July 14-16. One of the programs of the national amil zakat agency of East Java province, namely the Makmur program, is a program that moves in the economic field, which has two objectives, namely the development and empowerment of the economy in the community, the Makmur program distributes work equipment assistance z auto, some of the work equipment assistance distributed is among others such as Grobak workshops, workshop tools, other than that the amil zakat agency not only provides assistance in the form of z auto repair shop equipment but along with the basic materials needed by the workshopsuchas stock oil, andso on, the distribution of work equipment assistance Z auto Makmur jatim program has a positive value for the community, namely providing benefits regarding the empowerment and development of mustahik so that z auto repair shop business actors are able to become muzakki and donate a little of their wealth to people in need, assistance in the distribution of the jatim Makmur program is in accordance with the category of 8 asnaf at least with the category of poor or underprivileged people.

Abstract

Sexual behavior among adolescents is a reproductive health issue that can lead to various consequences, such as unplanned pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections, and the risk of dropping out of school. Technological developments and easy access to digital media also influence how adolescents obtain information and shape their attitudes and behaviors. Therefore, innovative, engaging educational media that align with the characteristics of younger generations are needed; one example is the use of animated videos. This community service activity aims to increase students' knowledge about sexual behavior through animated videos. The activity was held on May 6, 2024, at SMA Negeri 5 Surakarta, with 51 students in attendance. The methods used included interactive lectures, screenings of 3-minute 4-second animated videos, discussion sessions, and evaluations through pre- and post-tests. The evaluation results showed an increase in students' knowledge with an average score of 2.84 points. Thus, animated videos have proven effective in increasing adolescents' knowledge about sexual behavior and have the potential to be an engaging and educational health promotion medium.

Abstract

Zakat is a key instrument in the Islamic economic system, functioning as a mechanism for income redistribution and poverty alleviation. However, zakat management at the level of mosque-based Zakat Collection Units (Unit Pengumpul Zakat/UPZ) still faces significant challenges, particularly in terms of managerial capacity, administrative systems, and institutional governance. This community service project aims to optimize the collection and distribution of zakat through capacity building of the UPZ management at Al-Hidayah Mosque, Mandailing Natal. The study employed a participatory approach consisting of observation, joint planning, socialization, training, mentoring, and evaluation stages. Data were collected using observation, interviews, and structured questionnaires administered through pre-test and post-test to measure participants’ knowledge improvement. Data analysis was conducted using a descriptive comparative method to assess changes before and after the intervention. The results indicate a significant improvement in the managerial capacity of UPZ administrators, as reflected by an increase in the average score from 55% in the pre-test to 80% in the post-test. In addition, improvements were observed in zakat management practices, including the establishment of simple financial recording systems, the development of a structured database of donors (muzakki) and beneficiaries (mustahik), and enhanced transparency and accountability. Qualitatively, the program also fostered behavioral change among administrators, the emergence of local leadership, and increased public trust in the UPZ. This study concludes that participatory-based socialization, training, and mentoring are effective in strengthening institutional capacity and optimizing zakat management at the grassroots level. The findings highlight the importance of governance and capacity building in enhancing the effectiveness of community-based zakat institutions.

Abstract

Leadership competence is one of the essential competencies that nurses must possess to effectively manage nursing services and improve the quality of patient care. However, many nurses still encounter challenges in decision-making, communication, team management, and problem-solving within clinical settings. Therefore, leadership training based on clinical practice is needed to strengthen nurses' leadership capacity. This community service program aimed to improve nurses' leadership competencies in nursing service management through clinical practice-based leadership training. The program was conducted using a participatory approach involving 40 nurses from a regional hospital. Activities included needs assessment, preparation, implementation of leadership training, simulation, case discussions, mentoring, and evaluation. Participants' knowledge was measured using pre-test and post-test assessments. The average pre-test score was 63.5, which increased to 86.8 in the post-test, indicating an improvement of 23.3 points. Participants demonstrated enhanced understanding of transformational leadership, effective communication, conflict management, delegation, and clinical decision-making. Increased confidence and leadership initiative were also observed among participants. Clinical practice-based leadership training effectively improved nurses' leadership competencies in managing nursing services. Similar programs should be implemented regularly to support professional nursing development and healthcare service quality improvement.

Abstract

Through a local knowledge based cultural heritage tourism education program, this community service activity aims to improve the understanding of tourism students at the Catholic University of Santo Thomas Medan about local history and cultural preservation. The community service activity was carried out at the Tjong A Fie historical and cultural tourism site in Medan City in March 2026. Through engaging discussions, historical educational tours, explanations of cultural heritage sites, and observation activities, the implementation strategy used an educational, participatory, and experiential learning approach. The concepts of historical tourism, community-based tourism, the value of cultural acculturation, and the importance of cultural heritage preservation in promoting sustainable tourism were among the topics discussed in the content. Students' understanding of local historical and cultural values ​​​​and their knowledge of the importance of preserving regional cultural identity increased as a consequence of this activity. Students also gained direct experience in understanding cultural heritage tourism and the importance of community involvement in the management of historical tourist sites. It is hoped that this program will become an example of cultural heritage-based tourism education that encourages the growth of sustainable cultural tourism in North Sumatra and Medan City.

Abstract

The character development of today's kids is beset by a number of issues, including diminishing spiritual awareness, poor social awareness, and waning moral principles in daily life. These circumstances highlight the necessity for educational initiatives that can sustainably incorporate the reinforcement of social and spiritual values. Through interactive instruction on the Eid al-Adha 1447 H sacrifice at SMP Negeri 3 Medan, this community service project seeks to raise students' spiritual and social consciousness. Through interactive counseling, conversations, question and answer sessions, introspection, sacrifice simulations, and activity sharing with others, students are actively involved in the educational process. To find changes in knowledge and attitudes, the activity was evaluated using participant reflections, pre-tests, post-tests, and observation. Students comprehension of the concept of sacrifice, the virtues of sincerity, sacrifice, and social consciousness increased as a consequence of the exercise. Participants also shown more involvement, empathy, solidarity, and awareness to share with underprivileged populations. This exercise demonstrates that sacrifice-based participation education may be a useful tool for enhancing students' social and spiritual character and fostering the growth of community-based character education within the educational setting.

Abstract

The rapid development of the marketplace ecosystem has significantly driven the increase of digital transaction activities among business actors, including micro, small, and medium enterprises. The ease of access, operational efficiency, and broad market reach offered by digital platforms provide substantial opportunities for digital economic growth. However, this increase is also accompanied by rising cybersecurity risks such as phishing, malware, account hacking, and theft or misuse of transaction data. This condition requires systematic efforts to enhance digital security literacy through cybersecurity and data protection education. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of cybersecurity education in improving understanding, awareness, and data protection practices related to digital transactions among business actors in the marketplace ecosystem. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques through observation and interviews with active marketplace users. The results indicate that cybersecurity education significantly improves the digital literacy of business actors, particularly in recognizing potential threats and applying appropriate mitigation measures. In addition, trained business actors tend to be more disciplined in managing transaction data in a secure and structured manner. Therefore, cybersecurity and data protection education play an important role in strengthening the digital resilience of business actors in the increasingly complex and dynamic digital economy era, as well as supporting sustainable digital transformation in Indonesia. Collaboration between government, platforms, and businesses is essential for improving data security and trust.

Abstract

The School Field Introduction Program (PLP) is an activity that provides students as prospective teachers with real experience in understanding and implementing the learning process at school. This research aims to determine the role of students in implementing the learning model through the PLP program at SMA Negeri 8 Palembang. The method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques in the form of observation, documentation and direct teaching practice. The results of implementing PLP show that students play an active role in designing and implementing learning models, such as Problem Based Learning (PBL), group discussions and presentations. The application of this model can increase students' activeness, participation and critical thinking abilities during learning. In addition, students gain experience in managing classes, compiling learning tools, and adapting to the characteristics of diverse students. The PLP program also makes a positive contribution to the development of students' pedagogical, professional, social and personality competencies as prospective educators. Thus, PLP becomes an effective means of preparing students to become professional and competent teachers.

Abstract

School bulletins are a learning medium that can support the development of students' literacy and writing skills. However, managing school bulletins often faces challenges in the form of limited student understanding of journalistic fundamentals and news writing techniques. This situation was also found among the Atsar Bulletin administrators at MA Salafiyah Simbangkulon, Pekalongan Regency. This community service activity aimed to improve students' journalistic understanding and skills through mentoring the publication of bulletins based on journalism training. The activity was held on February 7, 2025, in a classroom at MAS Simbang Kulon, involving 24 Atsar Bulletin student administrators. The method used was a participatory approach through four stages: planning (pre-activity), training implementation, writing practice, and evaluation. The material covered journalistic fundamentals, news types, news structure, and news writing techniques. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' understanding of journalistic fundamentals, their ability to differentiate news types, their understanding of journalistic codes of ethics, and their skills in composing news headlines and leads. This activity demonstrates that practice-based journalism training is effective in supporting the development of students' literacy and writing skills.
