Abstract

This study aims to describe learning activities in the preparation center and analyze their role in developing fine motor skills in children aged 4–5 years at TK Alam Yaa Bunayya Gresik. This research used a descriptive qualitative approach involving three children with fine motor development difficulties. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that tracing, cutting, coloring, pasting, and beading activities effectively stimulate eye–hand coordination, finger muscle strength, concentration, and independence. Differences in developmental outcomes were observed among participants, where children with better grip control and focus showed more optimal development. Thus, structured and repetitive learning activities in the preparation center play an important role in optimizing fine motor development in early childhood, especially for children with developmental delays.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and compare the implementation of multicultural-based Islamic Religious Education in Indonesia and several Southeast Asian countries. This study is based on the reality of religious, ethnic, cultural, and linguistic diversity that is a key characteristic of Southeast Asian societies. In this context, Islamic Religious Education plays a crucial role in instilling the values ??of tolerance, religious moderation, respect for differences, and harmonious social life. This research uses a qualitative approach with a comparative study method and utilizes library research as a data collection technique. Data were obtained from various sources, such as books, scientific articles, national and international journals, education policy documents, and relevant research findings. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, comparison between cases, and drawing conclusions. The results show that Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand share similarities in utilizing religious education as a means of developing religious and tolerant student character. However, each country implements different strategies according to its social conditions and education policies. Indonesia emphasizes strengthening religious moderation in its Islamic Religious Education curriculum, Malaysia fosters social integration in a multiethnic society, Singapore emphasizes social harmony and national cohesion, and Thailand utilizes Islamic education as a medium for strengthening identity and intercultural dialogue. Research findings indicate that the successful implementation of multicultural-based Islamic Religious Education is influenced by government policy support, an inclusive curriculum, educator competence, and a conducive social environment. Therefore, strengthening multicultural values ??in Islamic Religious Education needs to be continuously developed to support the creation of a peaceful, inclusive, and harmonious society. Abstract

This study aims to optimize the social skills of children aged 5–6 years through the implementation of the Make A Match learning model in Classroom Action Research (CAR) at RA Al-Ikhlashiyah 2 . Social skills are an essential aspect of early childhood development, particularly in terms of cooperation, communication, and active participation in group activities. The research employed a Classroom Action Research design based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, which consists of planning, action, observation, and reflection cycles. The subjects of the study were 10 children in Group A aged 5–6 years. Data were collected through observation sheets, performance assessments, and documentation, and analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative techniques. The findings revealed a significant improvement in children’s social skills across the research cycles. In the pre-action stage, only 30% of children reached the expected development category. After implementing the Make A Match model in Cycle I, the achievement increased to 60%, and further improved to 90% in Cycle II, exceeding the success indicator of 80%. The improvement was marked by increased communication, cooperation, empathy, and active participation during learning activities. In conclusion, the Make A Match learning model is effective in optimizing the social skills of early childhood learners by providing interactive, collaborative, and enjoyable learning experiences. This model can be recommended as an alternative instructional strategy for teachers in early childhood education to enhance children’s social development.

Abstract

Developing computational thinking during early childhood requires learning experiences that are meaningful, engaging, and aligned with children's developmental characteristics. This study examines the use of unplugged coding integrated into play-based learning activities embedded within children's daily classroom routines at TK Piri Yogyakarta. A qualitative phenomenological design was adopted to capture the experiences of teachers and children during the implementation of this learning approach. The participants consisted of two early childhood teachers and eighteen children aged 5–6 years. Data were gathered through direct classroom observations, interviews with teachers, and analysis of supporting documents. The collected data were analyzed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) to identify common patterns across participants' experiences. The findings indicate that incorporating unplugged coding into everyday play activities provides opportunities for children to develop essential components of computational thinking, including sequencing, pattern recognition through repeated actions, and simple decision-making based on cause-and-effect situations. The learning process also promoted active participation, collaborative interaction, and greater confidence among the children because the activities were closely connected to familiar daily experiences. These findings suggest that integrating unplugged coding into routine play activities offers a practical and child-centered approach for introducing computational thinking in early childhood education.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of cooperation skills among children aged 5–6 years at RA Amal Ikhlas, as reflected in their difficulties in sharing tasks, taking turns, helping peers, and following group rules during learning activities. The study aimed to improve children's cooperation skills through the implementation of a modified ball relay game incorporating a hula hoop tunnel obstacle. This research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) using the Kemmis and McTaggart model, consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection conducted over two cycles. The participants were 14 children aged 5–6 years. Data were collected through observation and documentation and analyzed using descriptive qualitative and quantitative techniques. The findings revealed that the modified ball relay game effectively improved children's cooperation skills. The average cooperation score increased from 41.00% in the pre-cycle to 65.70% in Cycle I and further improved to 83.55% in Cycle II. By the end of the study, 92.86% of the children had reached the categories of Developing as Expected (BSH) and Very Well Developed (BSB). Improvements were observed in children's ability to cooperate, communicate, take turns, share responsibilities, follow rules, and help peers during group activities. It can be concluded that the modified ball relay game is an effective, engaging, and innovative learning strategy for enhancing cooperation skills among children aged 5–6 years.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low gross motor skills of children aged 5–6 years at RA Istiqomah, particularly in balance, coordination, agility, and movement accuracy. The study aimed to improve children's gross motor skills through creative dance activities. This research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) using the Kemmis and McTaggart model, consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages conducted in two cycles. The participants were 18 children aged 5–6 years in Group B of RA Istiqomah. Data were collected through observation and documentation and analyzed using descriptive qualitative and quantitative techniques. The findings revealed a significant improvement in children's gross motor skills after the implementation of creative dance activities. In the pre-cycle stage, only 22.3% of children reached the categories of Developing as Expected (BSH) and Very Well Developed (BSB). After the first cycle, the percentage increased to 66.6%, and further rose to 94.4% in the second cycle. Children demonstrated improvements in body balance, movement coordination, agility, rhythm synchronization, and muscle strength. In addition, creative dance activities enhanced children's confidence, participation, and enthusiasm during learning activities. The study concludes that creative dance is an effective and engaging learning strategy for improving gross motor skills among children aged 5–6 years. The findings contribute to early childhood education practices by providing an innovative and enjoyable approach to physical motor development. Creative dance can therefore be utilized as an alternative learning activity to optimize children's developmental outcomes.
