Abstract

This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with data collected through a three-dayobservation conducted on May 5, 6, and 7, 2025. The study subjects consisted of 40 early childhood learnerswho participated in thematic learning on “Fruits.” Activities included recognizing and touching fruit textures, weighing fruits (Day 1); identifying fruit tastes, searching for fruit cards, and making fruit collages (Day 2); aswell as washing and eating fruits together (Day 3). Each activity was designed to stimulate various aspects ofchild development, including cognitive, language, fine motor, gross motor, and social-emotional domains. Theresults revealed that the implemented strategies successfully created a fun and meaningful learning atmosphere.Children appeared enthusiastic, actively involved, able to collaborate in groups, and demonstratedunderstanding of the material. Learning activities based on real-life experiences and participation provedef ective in increasing interest and comprehension among children. The group-based learning also fosteredchildren's social abilities through cooperation, communication, and mutual assistance. Thus, fun andmeaningful learning strategies can be considered appropriate approaches to improve the quality of earlychildhood education. Teachers are encouraged to design learning activities that are not only informative but alsocontextual, emotionally engaging, and rooted in the real-life experiences of children.

Abstract

This study aims to map publication trends and intellectual structure of literature on play integration in early childhood mathematics education from 2016 to 2025. A bibliometric approach was applied to data from Scopus using VOSviewer, Biblioshiny, and Microsoft Excel. Results show progressive publication growth with significant acceleration post-2022, indicating a shift from niche to mainstream research. Early Childhood Research Quarterly and Journal of Experimental Child Psychology emerged as the most dominant sources. The most productive author was Ramani G.B. (7 documents), followed by Hu B.Y. and Li L. (6 documents each). The most prolific institutions were University of California (13 documents), University of Pittsburgh, and University of Toronto (12 documents each). The United States dominated country contributions, followed by Canada, China, and Sweden. Co-occurrence keyword analysis revealed a thematic shift toward experimental approaches linking play with cognitive constructs such as numeracy, executive function, and school readiness. These findings confirm the field's maturation while highlighting representation gaps from developing countries, providing strategic direction for developing evidence-based and inclusive play-based mathematics learning research and practice.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the trends and development of research on environmental education in early childhood from 2000 to 2025 using a bibliometric approach. Data were obtained from the Scopus database, with approximately 293 documents that met the inclusion criteria. The analysis was conducted using VOSviewer and Biblioshiny to identify publication trends, journal distribution, authors, affiliations, countries, and keyword networks. The results indicate a significant increase in publications, particularly after 2020. Sustainability (Switzerland) emerged as the leading publication source, while authors and institutions were distributed globally, with a dominance of United States and Australia. Subject area analysis revealed that Social Sciences and Psychology were the most dominant fields, whereas the contribution of Environmental Science remained relatively limited. Keyword visualization showed that environmental education is the central theme, evolving toward environmental literacy and sustainable development. These findings suggest that research on environmental education in early childhood is increasingly oriented toward sustainability and environmental literacy, although deeper integration of ecological approaches is still needed. This study provides a comprehensive overview of the research landscape and serves as a reference for future studies.

Abstract

Excessive use of gadgets in early childhood can lead to dependency and impact children's physical and social development. This study aims to examine nature-based play as an alternative to reducing gadget dependency in early childhood. The study used a qualitative descriptive method with a literature review technique through various journals and relevant research from 2020 to 2025. The results show that nature-based play can increase children's physical activity, motor skills, creativity, and social interaction, and can help reduce screen time because children are more attracted to direct play activities in natural environments. Thus, nature-based play can be an effective alternative to reducing gadget dependency in early childhood. Keywords: nature-based play, gadget dependency, early childhood.

Abstract

Simple movements in the Brain Gym application are a new innovation in stimulating fine motor skills in early childhood, which previously tended to use sheets of paper for writing, thickening, drawing, and other activities. The purpose of this study was to create an interesting and fun strategy to hone children's fine motor skills through coordinated movements in Brain Gym activities. Data were obtained through qualitative methods with children aged 5-6 years at Dharma Wanita Dhawu Kindergarten using observation, documentation, and interviews. The data analysis technique in this study used the Miles and Huberman model with data analysis stages: data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions, and verification with data validity testing using triangulation techniques. The findings of this study indicate that strategies for developing fine motor skills in children aged 5-6 years can be implemented through Brain Gym activities, which are carried out in two ways: 1) using media that are fun and interesting for children, and 2) without using media that encourage children to move more actively.

Abstract

Language is an essential aspect of early childhood development because it functions as a means of communication in daily life. However, not all children develop language skills according to their developmental stages. One of the language development disorders experienced by children is speech delay. This study aims to identify the characteristics of children with speech delay and the teachers’ efforts to overcome speech delay in children aged 5–6 years at TK Yasalmuna Palangka Raya. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a field research design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects consisted of B1 and B2 classroom teachers, the principal, and two children experiencing speech delay. The results showed that children with speech delay demonstrated minimal verbal responses, limited vocabulary, unclear pronunciation, and difficulty forming simple sentences. Teachers’ efforts to overcome speech delay included singing activities, simple question-and-answer sessions, storytelling using pictures, picture guessing games, and positive reinforcement. After receiving gradual stimulation, the children showed improvement in speaking confidence, vocabulary development, and verbal responses during classroom activities.

Abstract

This study aims to reconstruct the policy direction of Islamic Religious Education based on the vision, mission, and objectives from the perspective of Government Regulation Number 55 of 2007. This study begins with the fundamental problem of the gap between the normative ideals of PAI which emphasize the formation of faith, piety, and noble character and the reality of implementation, which is still dominated by a cognitive-doctrinal approach and suboptimal internalization of values. The study uses a qualitative approach through library research with critical analysis of policy documents, Islamic education literature, and contemporary educational theory. The results indicate that conceptually, the vision, mission, and objectives of PAI align with the regulatory framework, but have not been effectively operationalized in learning practices. The main weaknesses lie in the lack of integration of affective and practical dimensions, minimal pedagogical innovation, and weak relevance to global challenges such as social pluralism and digital disruption. Therefore, a reconstruction of the policy direction of PAI is needed based on three main paradigms: integrative (strengthening the integration of knowledge and values), humanistic (placing students as learning subjects), and transformative (orienting toward behavioral change and social awareness). This research confirms that the reconstruction of Islamic Religious Education policy must be directed at strengthening values-based curricula, contextual and reflective learning, and a comprehensive and authentic evaluation system. Thus, PAI is expected to bridge the gap between normative vision and implemented reality and play a strategic role in shaping a generation that is religious, moderate, and adaptive to global dynamics.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of gadget use on the social development of early childhood at KB Pelita Hati Munggugianti. This study employed a quantitative method with a correlational research design. The research subjects consisted of early childhood students at KB Pelita Hati Munggugianti. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, and documentation. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive analysis to describe the condition of gadget use and children’s social development. The results showed that most children used gadgets with relatively high intensity, ranging from 1–3 hours per day, while some children used gadgets for more than 3 hours daily. Children with higher gadget use intensity tended to demonstrate lower social interaction skills, such as reduced communication abilities, low participation in group activities, and a tendency to play alone. Nevertheless, gadget use does not always produce negative effects when it is used in limited duration and under the supervision of parents and teachers. This study concludes that gadget use has an influence on the social development of early childhood, therefore proper guidance and supervision are necessary to ensure that digital technology provides positive benefits for children’s development.
