Abstract

Low Birth Weight (LBW) infants are a group of neonates who are highly susceptible to thermoregulation disorders, particularly hypothermia, due to limited subcutaneous fat reserves, a relatively large body surface area, and the immaturity of the temperature regulation system. Untreated hypothermia can lead to serious complications such as hypoxia, sepsis, hypoglycemia, apnea, and failure to gain weight, which ultimately contribute to increased neonatal morbidity and mortality. One of the non-pharmacological nursing interventions that can be used to prevent hypothermia is nesting care, a positioning technique using supportive materials to create a comfortable environment that resembles the intrauterine position. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of nesting care in LBW infants as an  effort to increase body temperature in infants experiencing hypothermia. The method used was a descriptive case study with a nursing process approach involving three participants. The intervention consisted of nesting care administered for three days, with a duration of 30 minutes once daily using the quarter-prone or semi-prone position. The results showed that after the nesting intervention, two out of three participants experienced an increase in body temperature approaching normal values on the third day. Improvement in the infants' condition was also indicated by reduced crying and longer periods of calm sleep compared to the condition before the intervention. Body temperature measurements and observations of the infants’ condition were conducted periodically to evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention, with an average temperature increase of approximately 0.2°C at the end of the intervention. In conclusion, nesting care can be used as an effective non-pharmacological nursing intervention to help increase body temperature in LBW infants experiencing hypothermia.

Abstract

The development of information technology has driven an increase in self-diagnosis behavior, especially among the productive-age population with broad access to the Internet. This phenomenon has the potential to result in inaccurate health assessments and influence health-related decision making. This study aimed to describe self-diagnosis behavior, motivations, patterns of seeking health information online, consequences after performing self-diagnosis, and the level of health literacy among people aged 18-44 in the Tataran 1 area. This research uses a quantitative descriptive design with a survey method through questionnaires given to 60 respondents in the company. The results show that the majority of respondents are female, aged 35-44, and have a high school level education. Some respondents were not motivated to perform self-diagnosis, and the level of seeking health information online was considered low to moderate. Nevertheless, nearly half of the respondents still took follow-up actions after performing self-diagnosis. The majority of respondents had a moderate level of health literacy, so the ability to understand and evaluate health information still needs to be improved. These findings underscore the importance of digital health literacy education so that the public can accurately sort medical information and reduce the risk of mistreatment due to self-diagnosis of the disease.

Abstract

Early mobilization is an important component of postpartum midwifery care to prevent complications, accelerate physical recovery, and improve maternal comfort after delivery. However, not all mothers are able to perform early mobilization optimally due to fatigue, pain, and decreased energy after delivery. Sukari date palm juice (Extractum Phoenix dactylifera) is known to contain simple carbohydrates, minerals, and bioactive compounds that have the potential to increase energy and accelerate maternal recovery. This study aims to analyze the effect of consuming Sukari date palm juice on accelerating early mobilization of postpartum mothers from day 1 to day 3 in the working area of the Sikui Community Health Center (UPT). The study used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest control group approach. The study sample consisted of 30 postpartum mothers divided into an intervention group (n=15) and a control group (n=15). Early mobilization ability was assessed based on the time the mother was able to sit, stand, and walk. The results showed that postpartum mothers in the intervention group experienced a significant acceleration in early mobilization compared to the control group, particularly in walking ability, with a time difference of up to 8–12 hours faster. The results of the Mann–Whitney statistical test showed a significant effect of date palm juice consumption on the acceleration of early mobilization (p < 0.001). Thus, Sukari date palm juice has been proven to be effective in accelerating early mobilization and can be recommended as a supporting nutritional intervention in postpartum midwifery care.

Abstract

Clean water availability is an essential component of hospital hygiene and sanitation operations, including hand hygiene, environmental cleaning, linen management, food sanitation, and infection prevention. RSUD Sumbersari Bantul Metro Selatan still relies on one bore well and has limited water storage without a permanent backup source. This study aimed to analyze the adequacy of clean water quantity and quality in supporting hygiene and sanitation operations at RSUD Sumbersari Bantul Metro Selatan in 2026. This study used a descriptive analytic design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, water discharge and consumption measurement, document review, and laboratory examination of clean water samples. The analysis compared water availability, water demand, unit-based distribution needs, and water quality with the standards of Ministry of Health Regulation Number 2 of 2023. The results showed that during January-March 2026, the hospital served 154 inpatients and 1,028 outpatients and had 151 staff members. The total clean water requirement was 715.44 m3/90 days, while the available water was only 414.00 m3/90 days, fulfilling 57.87% of the required amount. The average daily need was 7.95 m3/day, compared with the availability of 4.60 m3/day. High-risk service units, particularly inpatient care, emergency services, intensive care, CSSD, isolation, maternity care, laundry, and nutrition services, require priority water distribution. Laboratory testing found Escherichia coli and total coliform at 19 CFU/100 ml each, exceeding the required standard of 0 CFU/100 ml. In conclusion, the quantity and microbiological quality of clean water at RSUD Sumbersari Bantul have not adequately supported optimal hygiene and sanitation operations.

Abstract

Patient satisfaction is one of the key indicators in assessing the quality of nursing care in hospitals. High-quality nursing care can enhance patient trust, comfort, and satisfaction during their treatment. This study aims to determine the relationship between the quality of nursing care and the satisfaction of inpatients at Bahteramas General Hospital in Kendari City. This is an analytical quantitative study using a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 39 inpatients. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses with the chi-square test. The results indicate a significant relationship between all dimensions of nursing service quality and inpatient satisfaction. The tangible dimension was associated with patient satisfaction (p = 0.003), reliability (p = 0.000), responsiveness (p = 0.000), assurance (p = 0.012), and empathy (p = 0.000). In general, patients who rated the quality of nursing care as “poor” tended to be more likely to fall into the “dissatisfied” category, while patients who rated the quality of care as “adequate” tended to be more likely to fall into the “satisfied” category. This study concludes that the quality of nursing care is significantly associated with inpatient satisfaction at Bahteramas General Hospital in Kendari City. . Therefore, hospitals need to improve the quality of nursing care, particularly in terms of physical evidence, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy, in order to enhance patient satisfaction.

Abstract

Primary healthcare centers generate both medical and non-medical waste that may pose environmental and public health risks if not properly managed. This study aims to describe the waste management practices at Kesumadadi Public Health Center, Bekri Subdistrict, Central Lampung Regency, in 2025. This research employed a descriptive design conducted in May 2025 at the Kesumadadi Public Health Center. Data were collected through observation and interviews as primary data and secondary data from the health center. Data processing included editing, coding, tabulating, and cleaning, while data analysis was carried out using checklists and questionnaires. The results showed that the segregation of medical and non-medical solid waste was not fully in accordance with standards, waste transportation to temporary storage areas did not use trolleys and lacked designated routes, there was no wastewater treatment facility for liquid waste, and the use of personal protective equipment by staff was not optimal. Waste management practices at the Kesumadadi Public Health Center have not met the required standards, particularly in waste segregation, transportation, liquid waste treatment, and occupational safety, therefore improvements are needed to reduce environmental and health risks.
