Abstract

From the interview with the biology teacher at Taman Mulia Private High School, it can be seen that the students' creative thinking skills have not been fully trained and no special assessment has been carried out. Overcoming these problems can be done by using a learning model that can encourage students and improve the ability of creative thinking skills by providing systematic projects. The purpose of this study was to determine how much influence the project-based learning (PjBL) model of making bioplastic preserves has on students' creative thinking skills in biodiversity material. This research method is a quasi-experimental design using the Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sampling technique used simple random sampling with class X IIS 1 as the experimental class using the PjBL learning model for making bioplastic preserves and class X IIS 2 as the control class using the discovery learning model. The results of the effect size of 1.16 are in the large category and it is concluded that there is an influence on the creative thinking skills of students.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the difference in critical thinking abilities using the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and Predict-Observe-Explain (POE) models in the topic of cells. The research design employed in this study is quasi-experimental with a Nonequivalent Control Group design. The population in this research consists of two classes of XI IPA, totaling 60 students. Sampling was conducted using the Saturation sampling technique. The instrument used to measure critical thinking abilities was a set of ten essay-type questions. The average scores of pretest and posttest critical thinking abilities of students using the POE and PBL models were as follows, respectively: 54.83; 72.75 and 52.67; 78.83. The data results for critical thinking abilities across 5 indicators using the PBL and POE models were 79.90 and 71.50, respectively, categorized as high. The t-test results indicate that critical thinking abilities using the PBL model are superior to those using the POE model. The N-gain test results reveal that both models are equally effective in enhancing students' critical thinking abilities.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of project-based learning (PJBL) student worksheets against students science literacy abilities on the use of waste and natural materials in class X SMA Swasta Nusantara Lubuk Pakam in the 2023/2024 school year. The research method used is quantitative, in the form of a true experimental design. The research design used was a pretest-posttest control group design. The population in this study was all class X at SMA Swasta Nusantara Lubuk Pakam, with a total of 6 classes. The sampling technique used in this research is class random sampling. The research sample consisted of two classes: X-1, which was the experimental group using PJBL-based LKPD, and X-2, which was the control group using conventional LKPD. This research instrument is a description-based scientific literacy ability test. The results of the calculation of the hypothesis test using the independent sample t-test obtained a sig. (2-tailed) value < 0.05, indicating that the PJBL-based LKPD has a significant effect on students' scientific literacy abilities in the material on the use of waste and natural materials.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to measure the effectiveness of using the "Saya Ingin Bertanya" application in improving understanding of learning material in class X SMA AL-WASHLIYAH 1 MEDAN. This research uses an experimental method, which aims to determine the effect of the intervention imposed on research subjects. Data collection was carried out using several techniques, namely class randomization, pre-test and post-test, questionnaires, and monitoring application activity. Data analysis in this research involved descriptive statistical tests, independent sample t-two tests, and simple linear regression analysis. The œSaya Ingin Bertanya application is designed to help students ask questions anonymously and get answers to their questions in real-time. The main features of this application include a question and answer forum but the identity is unknown, asking questions on topics being studied and topics to be studied, asking questions outside the learning topic and learning resources that are uploaded by the teacher and can be accessed directly by students. The results of the analysis show that there is a significant difference in increasing understanding of the material between the control group and the experimental group after the intervention. The significance value obtained (p < 0.05) shows that the difference between the two groups did not occur by chance, but was significant.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on students' critical thinking skills in understanding the material of RNA and DNA structures. The PBL model is applied as an active learning approach that involves students in solving real problems and is relevant to the biology material being studied. This study used an experimental design with a control group and an experimental group where the experimental group was taught using the PBL model, while the control group used conventional learning methods. Data collection was carried out through critical thinking skills tests before and after the intervention, as well as observations during the learning process. The results of the analysis showed that students who were taught using the PBL model experienced a significant increase in critical thinking skills compared to the control group. These findings indicate that the application of the PBL model can improve students' understanding and analytical skills of the structure of RNA and DNA, and can be an effective alternative in the biology learning process in schools. This study provides recommendations for the wider application of the PBL method in the context of science education to improve students' critical thinking skills.

ThisThis research aims to determine the effect of the Discovery Learning model on student learning outcomes in class VIII pressure material. This research uses Quasy Experimental Design with a Pretest-Posttest Control design with probability sampling techniques. Data collection was carried out using a multiple choice test with a total of 25 questions. This research involved class VIII students at SMP Negeri 1 Sawit Seberang. Data processing in this study used the SPSS version 25 application. The normality test results showed that the data came from a normal distribution. The homogeneity test shows that the data is homogeneous. In the PairdSample T-Test, the Sig value was obtained. (2-tailed) = 0.000 which indicates a significance value < 0.05 so that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that the Discovery Learning model has a significant effect on the learning outcomes of Class VIII students on pressure material at SMP Negeri 1 Sawit Seberang.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the level of knowledge of biology education students on the topic of Biopreneurship. This research uses a descriptive evaluative method, namely a study method that evaluates objective conditions or what they are in a situation that is the object of study. The analysis used is descriptive qualitative, namely research that accurately describes the nature of an individual, certain circumstances or symptoms so that they can be described thoroughly. Data collection was carried out using several techniques, namely literature studies and field observations. Biontrepreneurship is the integration of biological sciences with business sciences which involves all aspects of living things. Biopreneurship is defined as the use of living things that can be processed into business products and can be marketed, resulting in a productive economy. Seeing the importance of Biopreneurship, interdisciplinary learning began to be carried out. This is done so that students are able to combine their knowledge to apply it to solve various problems in the real world. The results of the analysis show that biology education students' knowledge on the topic of Biopreneurship is in the high category with a score of 82. Based on the level of Biopreneurship knowledge which is categorized as high, it is estimated that students will be able to design good Biopreneurship products.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the improvement of future educators' public speaking skills through training focused on their final results. In the third meeting, there was a significant improvement of 71.32% in the students' public speaking skills after the post-test. This result showed a good improvement from the previous pre-test. Good public speaking skills are very important for future educators, as this will affect their competence in becoming professional teachers. The teacher's ability to explain the material briefly but comprehensively is needed so that students can understand well. This research makes an important contribution in preparing future educators to communicate effectively, avoid difficulties during the learning process, and improve their public speaking skills.
