Abstract

This research aims to understand the importance of the human rights movement in the United States from the abolition period to the civil rights movement. Descriptive qualitative methods were used to gain an in-depth understanding of the impact and social changes produced by this movement. The research results show that the human rights movement has had a significant impact on the fight for equality and eliminating racial discrimination in the United States. During the abolition period, this movement aimed to abolish the existing system of slavery, and through peaceful actions, demonstrations, and campaigns, this movement succeeded in raising public awareness of the importance of human rights. During the civil rights movement, the movement became broader and aimed to fight for civil, political, and social rights for all citizens of the United States regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background. Through this movement, significant legislative and court decisions have been produced, such as the Brown v. Browns decision—Board of Education in 1954, which overturned racial segregation in schools. The importance of the human rights movement is also seen in the social and cultural changes it produced. Americans are becoming more aware of the importance of respecting human rights and upholding the values of equality. The results of this research emphasize that this movement not only influenced the United States at that time but also had a long-term impact in promoting equality and human rights worldwide. Through this research, we can better understand the importance of the civil rights movement in the United States and its contribution to profound social change. This research also shows its relevance in the current context, where human rights issues are still a significant concern in global society.

Abstract

Freelance journalists in Indonesia have a higher level of precariousness in terms of occupational health and safety, as well as socioeconomic conditions during the COVID-19 (Coronavirus Disease, 2019) pandemic. The vulnerability of exposure to the virus is caused by non-fulfillment of work equipment standards, health protocols when interacting with news sources, and inadequate health facilities. Another issue threatening freelance journalists is the deterioration of global economic conditions during the pandemic, which has had a devastating impact on corporate revenues. As a result, freelance journalists are also threatened with dismissal from work, late payment of wages, or even not paid at all. Referring to the concept of labor precariat from Guy Standing, this study aims to determine the factors that contribute to the vulnerability of freelance journalists in Indonesia and the strategies used to survive amid a pandemic that has not yet ended. This research uses a qualitative approach by observing the practice of journalism physically and in cyberspace and interviewing several key informants. The findings of this study show that internal company factors also adversely affect the condition of freelance journalists. Freelance journalists are often considered not an important part of the company, so some need to be equipped with standard equipment, adequate security equipment, and health insurance. So, to deal with this condition, some freelance journalists try to survive by applying individual tactics such as doing business on the sidelines of their journalistic activities. In addition, they also apply institutional strategies by strengthening networks through associations and professional communities.

The correlation between husband's social support and breastfeeding self-efficacy in primiparous mothers. This study aims to see the relationship between social support, especially from the husband, and the mother's self-confidence in breastfeeding. Respondents in this study were 40 primiparous mothers with children aged 0-6 months living in Tanah Datar Regency—data collection using a purposive sampling technique. The husband's social support scale is designed based on the theory proposed by Sarafino (2004) as the independent variable (X), and the breastfeeding self-efficacy scale uses the Breastfeeding Self Efficacy Scale - Short Form (BSES-SF) scale as the dependent variable (Y). The results of data analysis using product moment found that (p = .000) < .005, meaning that there was a significant positive relationship between the husband's social support and breastfeeding self-efficacy in primiparous mothers.

Abstract

One operation in mining coal is transfer layer cover (overburden). To increase capacity handling burden, necessary planning needs equipment, machine mechanical form tool load, And tools capable of transporting operate optimally depending on the situation And condition in the field. Demolition layer land cover (overburden) begins with excavation of the front and transportation to the disposal area with tool mechanical excavator PC 2000 with a capacity of 123 buckets and Komatsu HD 785 dump truck capacity of 603. Calculations use a tool calculated, the simplex minimization method And are processed using POM software. On study this obtained results with four iterations obtained results 7,728 and If compared to with manual calculations obtained 7.1 then tools needed. In 1 fleet there are 7 HD units for production can be fulfilled.

Abstract

Writing is considered the most challenging skill for language learners because they need a certain amount of L2 background knowledge about the rhetorical organization, the proper use of language, or the specific lexicon they want to convey to their readers. It is not uncommon for students who are English majors to find it challenging to hone this writing skill. This study aims to see the extent of students' writing skills in the English department and to provide some ways to improve their writing skills. The method used in this study is a qualitative research method with observations of students majoring in English. The results of the research found that students majoring in English who were tested showed that students’ writing skills are still inferior and have many mistakes. This research is intended for readers to see a good writing strategy to improve the writing skills of English majors. It can be enhanced with techniques for better writing skills, such as brainstorming before starting and asking WH questions.
