Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop Animiz Animation Maker as teaching media for writing descriptive text for the tenth grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Medang Deras. This study was classified as a Research and Development (R & D) study due to the result in the form of a product, which was derived from Borg and Gall (2003) theory with some modifications. The tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Medang Deras were the subjects of this study. The procedures in carrying out this study included conducting a need analysis, determining the material, designing the first draft of media, revising the media, and producing the final product as an animation video. The data collection instruments were a combination of two strategies: interviews and questionnaires. The results of the interviews were examined as qualitative data, while the questionnaires were analyzed as quantitative data. These were student needs that included both target and learning needs. This study developed writing media based solely on descriptive text taught in the first semester. Abstract

This study was about Speaking Classroom Interaction Based on Initiation-Response-Feedback (IRF) Model for Grade VIII at SMP Negeri 16 Medan. The aim of this study were to state clearly the objectives of the study in relation of the problem posed. The objective was to describe how the pattern of IRF in the speaking classroom interaction for students grade VIII at SMP Negeri 16 Medan. This research used qualitative research. The data were collected in two ways by observing by video recording and interviewing. The data was analyzed based on Sinclair and Coulthard theory (1975). The results of this study were the following (1) The language used by the teacher and the students in the classroom interaction was not balance. They are seldom to use English. Both teacher and students used Bahasa for 57% and the rest 43% they use English. (2) The lowest pattern was the teacher’s feedback. It had 22% feedback given by the teacher to the students. The students’ response was the dominant pattern in the classroom interaction rather than initiation. The students’ response had 44%, while the teacher’s initiation had 34%. This pattern happened when the teacher asked students the examples of using ‘can’ and to do some exercises of using ‘can’ in sentences.

Abstract

This study deals with developing the writing paragraph through quickwriting for junior high school at smp swasta pahlawan nasional. The objectives of this study were to find out to improve the students’ ability in writing paragraph of grade VIII students by using quickwriting strategy. Data data of the research was taken from the secondary grade of Junior High School Students at SMP Swasta Pahlawan Nasional Medan, which is taken from one class, contain 33 student. The data in this research collected by using interview and questionnaire. The interview and questionnaire will be given to collect the students’ need, problem and interesting in learning English, particularly in writing and using quick writing in teaching and learning.  In the teaching-learning process the teacher should prepare before conducting the lesson. The first is classroom procedures in teaching-learning process. Classroom procedures used by English teacher are opening, quickwriting, main activities (exploration-elaboration-confirmation), closing. There are some problems faced in the teaching-learning process. The problems faced are problem in developing idea, organizing idea, difficulties in vocabulary, tenses, and grammar, different capability of the students, and limited time. The consequently, the teacher should give solutions to cope the problems faced in teaching-learning process. So, the teacher should be creative to minimize the problem faced in teaching-learning process in order to make the students enjoy with the materials and develop student’s ability. Keywords : writing paragraph, quickwriting

Abstract

This research aims to determine the feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness of Flash Card Comic learning media for "Greetings and Leave Taking" material in Grade IV at SDN 060872 Medan. This study utilizes the Research and Development (R&D) method following the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The subjects of this research include media experts, material experts, educational practitioners, and 20 fourth-grade students. The object of the research is the Flash Card Comic media, designed to improve students' understanding of English greetings and farewell expressions. The results of the study indicate that in terms of feasibility, the media obtained a score of 81.81% from media experts ("Feasible" category) and 93.3% from material experts ("Highly Feasible" category). In terms of practicality, questionnaire results showed that the media was rated as "Highly Practical" by educational practitioners. Regarding effectiveness, based on a comparison of pre-test and post-test scores, there was an increase in the average score from 39.75% to 73.75%. Based on an N-Gain analysis of 57.18%, the Flash Card Comic media is categorized as "Effective" in improving student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris secara bilingual dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara (speaking skill) melalui penggunaan aplikasi Duolingo berdasarkan hasil-hasil penelitian terdahulu. Pembelajaran bilingual dipandang sebagai pendekatan yang memungkinkan siswa memproses informasi dalam dua bahasa secara bergantian, sehingga dapat memperkuat pemahaman konsep serta kemampuan komunikasi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi literatur dengan menelaah artikel, jurnal, dan buku terbitan sepuluh tahun terakhir yang relevan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan aplikasi Duolingo dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara melalui fitur latihan pelafalan, pengulangan, serta umpan balik langsung. Selain itu, pembelajaran bilingual membantu siswa menghubungkan kosakata bahasa Inggris dengan Bahasa Indonesia sehingga proses pemahaman menjadi lebih mudah. Sintesis dari berbagai penelitian mengindikasikan bahwa kombinasi pembelajaran bilingual dan aplikasi digital memberikan dampak positif terhadap motivasi, kepercayaan diri, dan perkembangan kemampuan berbicara siswa. Dengan demikian, Duolingo dapat menjadi media pendukung yang efektif dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris bilingual.

Abstract

Penerapan Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) di sekolah dasar menjadi pendekatan penting untuk menciptakan pembelajaran bahasa yang komunikatif, interaktif, dan bermakna. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan secara kualitatif bagaimana CLT diterapkan dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris serta perannya dalam membangun lingkungan kelas yang komunikatif. Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan studi pustaka yang memanfaatkan jurnal empiris dan kajian teoretis terkait pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di sekolah dasar. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa CLT mampu meningkatkan partisipasi siswa, memperkuat penguasaan kosakata dan kemampuan berbicara, serta menumbuhkan rasa percaya diri dalam berkomunikasi. Guru berperan sebagai fasilitator melalui aktivitas seperti dialog, diskusi kelompok, role play, dan tugas komunikatif berbasis konteks. Kendala seperti keterbatasan waktu, media pembelajaran, serta rendahnya kepercayaan diri siswa tetap menjadi tantangan dalam implementasi CLT. Secara keseluruhan, CLT terbukti efektif dalam menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang komunikatif apabila didukung strategi pembelajaran yang tepat dan kreativitas guru.

Abstract

Penguasaan kosakata merupakan fondasi utama pembelajaran bahasa Inggris, namun siswa sekolah dasar sering mengalami kesulitan akibat metode pembelajaran konvensional yang pasif. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendesain model pembelajaran inovatif bernama “Voca-Motion” yang mengintegrasikan aktivitas gerak fisik untuk meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata. Metode penelitian menggunakan studi literatur dengan menganalisis artikel ilmiah terkait Total Physical Response (TPR), Running Dictation, serta metode Gerak dan Lagu. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa sintesis ketiga metode tersebut dalam “Voca-Motion” mampu menstimulasi memori kinestetik, menurunkan kecemasan siswa, dan meningkatkan partisipasi aktif secara signifikan. Desain model ini menyajikan tahapan pembelajaran sistematis mulai dari imitasi gerak, internalisasi irama, hingga produksi bahasa melalui kompetisi tim. Disimpulkan bahwa model “Voca-Motion” memiliki landasan teoretis dan dukungan empiris yang kuat sebagai solusi efektif dalam pembelajaran kosakata bahasa Inggris di sekolah dasar

Abstract

The study was conducted with the aim of determining the effect of Quiver-based visual learning media on the learning outcomes of fifth grade students of SDN 060843 Medan Barat. The study population consisted of all students in grades V-2 and V-4 of SDN 060843 totaling 50 students. The research sample was the total number of students in grades V-2 and V-4 of SDN 060843 totaling 50 students taken using total sampling. The data collection technique used in this study was by using 4 data in the form of observation data, interviews, written tests and documentation. The results of the study showed that there was an effect on the learning outcomes of fifth grade students of SDN 060843 after using Quiver-based visual learning media after conducting normality tests and t-tests on the research data. Based on the findings of the research results, it is recommended for researchers and educators to be able to optimize learning media by utilizing technology, especially those based on Augmented Reality (AR).

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of Web-Based Learning Media Wordwall on the Indonesian language learning outcomes of Grade V students at UPT SPF SDN 105275 Paya Geli. The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using the Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. The sample consisted of 45 students, with class V-A (23 students) as the experimental group and class V-B (22 students) as the control group. The research instrument included pre-test and post-test, which were tested for validity, reliability, difficulty level, and discriminating power. Data were analyzed using the Normality Test, Homogeneity Test, and Hypothesis Test. The results showed that students' average learning outcomes without using Wordwall were 47.3, while those using Wordwall achieved 87.3. The normality test results showed the data were normally distributed, with Sig. values of 0.127 (pre-test) and 0.066 (post-test), both greater than 0.05. The homogeneity test also indicated that the data were homogeneous (Sig. = 0.195 > 0.05). The hypothesis test using post-test scores showed tcount = 2.718 > ttable = 2.0167 at a significance level of 0.05, leading to the acceptance of Ha and rejection of Ho. It can be concluded that Web Wordwall-Based Learning Media significantly influences the Indonesian language learning outcomes of Grade V students at UPT SPF SDN 105275 Paya Geli.
