Abstract

The integration of feeding strategies, monitoring systems, and environmental assessments within short-cycle aquaculture systems is crucial for achieving optimal productivity and sustainability in coastal ecosystems. However, very few studies have been conducted on the interplay of these factors within shorter production cycles. The current study aimed to investigate the growth performance, feed efficiency, and survival rate of Lates calcarifer cultured for 30 days in offshore floating net cages under an at-satiation feeding strategy supplemented with probiotics and multivitamins. Observational data were collected from field trials conducted at Balai Besar Perikanan Budidaya Laut (BBPBL) in Lampung, Indonesia. Fish were administered feed bi-weekly, while essential water quality parameters were recorded weekly. Key findings included a specific growth rate of 1.4% per day, absolute weight gain of 36.8 g, a feed conversion ratio of 1.4, and an average survival rate of 82.8%. Throughout the study period, water quality parameters remained optimal. These results suggest that short-cycle barramundi farming facilitates efficient and sustainable production when combined with adaptive feeding schedules informed by consistent environmental monitoring. This research offers practical recommendations for small-scale marine aquaculture enterprises, highlighting the importance of advanced precision feeding frameworks and digital technologies in coastal aquafarming regions.

Abstract

Pemanfaatan sumber daya ikan melebihi kapasitas regeneratif, dengan degradasi stok ikan akibat overfishing dan IUU Fishing. Nelayan kecil menghadapi keterbatasan teknologi, infrastruktur, dan modal, yang mendorong praktik penangkapan yang tidak berkelanjutan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa Strategi Pengelolaan Perikanan Berbasis Penangkapan Ikan Terukur Dalam Pembangunan Sumber Daya Perikanan Berkelanjutan Di Indonesia. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif Systematic Literature Review (SLR). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan novelty Penelitian ini memperkenalkan beberapa elemen inovatif yang membedakan kebijakan PIT dengan pendekatan pengelolaan perikanan sebelumnya di Indonesia. Pertama, pergeseran dari kontrol input (membatasi izin kapal) ke kontrol output berbasis kuota memberikan solusi yang lebih efektif untuk mencegah penangkapan ikan berlebihan dan fenomena "race-to-fish". Kedua, model pendapatan pasca produksi, di mana retribusi dikumpulkan setelah tangkapan, meringankan beban keuangan nelayan skala kecil, mempromosikan keadilan dalam industri. Aspek baru lainnya adalah integrasi teknologi digital, seperti Skema Dokumentasi Tangkapan (CDS) dan platform pemasaran digital, meningkatkan transparansi dan akses pasar. Selain itu, keselarasan kebijakan PIT dengan prinsip-prinsip Ekonomi Biru menekankan konservasi ekosistem sekaligus memastikan keberlanjutan ekonomi. Terakhir, pengelolaan adaptif berdasarkan zonasi ekologis dan upaya pemulihan stok memastikan pendekatan yang seimbang antara eksploitasi dan konservasi, kemajuan strategis dalam pengelolaan perikanan Indonesia.

Abstract

The abundant potential resources in coastal and marine areas have the potential to be overutilized, which can lead to resource degradation. There are various management aimed at ecosystem sustainability, one of which is community-based ecosystem management. The purpose of this research is to provide information related to the role of community-based management that has been carried out. The method used in this research is the literature review method which is primary and secondary data that has been obtained from searching scientific articles and then compiled, analyzed and conclusions will be drawn. Community Based Management as a process of giving authority, responsibility, and opportunities to the community to manage its own resources preceded by determining needs and goals and aspirations. Various challenges are often experienced in management between the government, the community and also investors related to the use of space. Improving human resources in the form of education, training, access to technology and information, and institutional strengthening are needed to ensure that communities have the ability to manage their territory, while the government plays a role in maintaining, supporting and preserving existing culture or customs. The conclusion of this research is that the naming of each region is different but has the same goal, namely to maintain the sustainability of resources, so it is necessary to involve various parties in maintaining and documenting community-based resource management in each region.

Abstract

Ikan nila merupakan salah satu komoditas perikanan dengan nilai ekonomi tinggi yang mengalami peningkatan permintaan dari waktu ke waktu. Untuk mendukung kebutuhan tersebut, diperlukan pendekatan alternatif dalam sistem budidaya, khususnya pada aspek pakan. Pakan memiliki peranan krusial dalam menunjang pertumbuhan ikan, sekaligus menjadi komponen biaya terbesar dalam operasional budidaya. Sebagai solusi, penggunaan boster grotop diperkenalkan untuk meningkatkan nafsu makan, daya tahan tubuh ikan, serta efisiensi penggunaan pakan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh penambahan boster grotop ke dalam pakan komersial terhadap pertumbuhan dan tingkat kelangsungan hidup benih ikan nila (Oreochromis niloticus) dalam sistem budidaya tertutup Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS). Penelitian dilakukan selama 28 hari menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan empat perlakuan dosis boster grotop (0, 15, 30, dan 45 g/kg pakan) dan tiga kali ulangan. Parameter yang diamati meliputi pertambahan bobot dan panjang mutlak, laju pertumbuhan spesifik (LPS), tingkat kelulushidupan (SR), efisiensi pakan (EP), rasio konversi pakan (FCR), serta kualitas air. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan boster grotop memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan (P<0,05) terhadap seluruh parameter yang diuji, di mana dosis 15 g/kg pakan memberikan hasil paling optimal pada hampir seluruh aspek pertumbuhan dan efisiensi pakan. Berdasarkan temuan ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penambahan boster grotop pada pakan komersial dapat meningkatkan performa pertumbuhan ikan nila dalam sistem RAS

Abstract

Tambak HDPE adalah jenis tambak budidaya perikanan (seperti udang atau ikan) yang bagian dasarnya dilapisi dengan geomembran HDPE (High Density Polyethylene),yaitu sejenis plastik berkekuatan tinggi dan tahan terhadap bahan kimia, sinar UV, serta kerusakan mekanis. tambak HDPE juga lebih ramah lingkungan dibandingkan dengan tambak tanah konvensional karena mengurangi resiko pencemaran tanah dan perairan sekitarnya akibat limbah budidaya Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji efektivitas sistem tambak HDPE dalam usaha pembesaran udang vaname (Litopenaeus vannamei) di Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan, Sumatera Barat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan studi kasus deskriptif kuantitatif selama tiga siklus budidaya. Parameter yang diamati meliputi pertumbuhan udang, tingkat kelangsungan hidup (SR), efisiensi pakan (FCR), kualitas air, dan analisis kelayakan usaha. Hasil terbaik diperoleh pada siklus ketiga dengan SR sebesar 95%, FCR 1,4, dan produksi sebesar 3.500 kg. Sistem tambak HDPE terbukti meningkatkan efisiensi produksi dan keberlanjutan budidaya. Budidaya yang baik adalah berada di siklus 3 karena pada saat ini curah hujan sangat rendah dan kondisi lingkungan terkontrol.

Abstract

Kabupaten Barru memiliki potensi perikanan tangkap yang besar, salah satunya dengan penggunaan alat tangkap bagan perahu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi jenis dan jumlah komposisi hasil tangkapan bagan perahu berdasarkan titik koordinat di tiga lokasi berbeda: Perairan Tanete Rilau, Sumpang Binangae, dan Takkalasi. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada Juli–September 2024, menggunakan metode survei lapangan dan wawancara dengan nelayan serta pengepul. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif dan kuantitatif menggunakan uji ANOVA. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa jenis ikan yang dominan tertangkap adalah ikan teri (Stolephorus sp.) sebanyak 6.342 kg, ikan layang (Decapterus sp.) sebanyak 2.236 kg, dan ikan layur (Trichiurus sp.) sebanyak 315 kg. Lokasi dengan hasil tangkapan tertinggi adalah Takkalasi (4.095 kg), disusul Tanete Rilau (3.161 kg), dan terendah di Sumpang Binangae (1.637 kg). Meskipun terdapat variasi jumlah hasil tangkapan antar lokasi, hasil uji statistik menunjukkan perbedaan tidak signifikan (p > 0,05). Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa komposisi hasil tangkapan dipengaruhi oleh faktor musim, perilaku ikan terhadap cahaya, dan kesesuaian habitat, bukan semata-mata letak koordinat geografis. Penelitian ini memberikan informasi penting bagi upaya optimalisasi alat tangkap dan pengelolaan perikanan yang berkelanjutan di wilayah pesisir Kabupaten Barru.

Abstract

Daun mangrove Rhizophora sp. mengandung senyawa bioaktif seperti fenolik, flavonoid, tanin, dan saponin yang memiliki sifat antioksidan. Potensi ini dapat dimanfaatkan untuk mengembangkan teh herbal sebagai minuman fungsional alami dan sehat, yang dapat mendukung pelestarian ekosistem mangrove serta berkontribusi pada peningkatan ekonomi masyarakat pesisir. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi pemanfaatan daun mangrove Rhizophora sp. sebagai bahan baku teh herbal fungsional melalui analisis kandungan fitokimia dan tingkat kesukaan panelis. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu metode pendekatan eksploratif dan eksperimental secara kuantitatif terhadap tiga jenis daun mangrove sebagai perlakuan uji, diantaranya Rhizophora apiculata, Rhizophora mucronata, dan Rhizophora stylosa. Parameter yang dianalisis meliputi kandungan fenolik, flavonoid, aktivitas antioksidan, dan uji hedonik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, ketiga jenis daun mangrove meliputi R. apiculata, R. mucronata, dan R. stylosa memiliki potensi sebagai bahan baku minuman teh herbal fungsional. Ketiga jenis daun Rhizophora mengandung senyawa fenolik sebesar 39,716–84,645 mg GAE/g, flavonoid sebesar 61,075–89,508 mg CAE/g, antioksidan dengan nilai IC50 sebesar 72,339–76,626 ppm. Jenis daun mangrove Rhizophora stylosa menunjukkan hasil yang terbaik pada seluruh parameter uji. Hasil tingkat kesukaan panelis melalui uji hedonik, teh herbal ketiga jenis daun Rhizophora diterima secara positif oleh panelis, dengan skor atribut warna sebesar 7,00–7,64, aroma sebesar 6,44–6,60, dan rasa sebesar 7,00–7,16. Teh herbal daun Rhizophora stylosa memperoleh nilai alternatif tertinggi berdasarkan hasil pengambilan keputusan metode Bayes sebesar 7,27. Teh herbal daun mangrove Rhizophora sp. berpotensi dikembangkan sebagai minuman fungsional berbasis bahan alami dan lokal serta mendukung pemanfaatan tumbuhan mangrove secara berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Seaweed of the genus Sargassum is generally a relatively large aquatic plant that grows and develops on firm substrate. Alginate is an essential compound widely required in various sectors, including food, non-food, and medical or pharmaceutical industries; however, the entire demand for alginate is currently met through imports. This study aims to characterize the quality of Sargassum polycystum as a raw material for alginate production based on the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 2346:2015. The results showed that Sargassum polycystum had a sensory score of 8, moisture content of 12.75%, water absorption capacity (WAC) of 67.25%, and impurities content of 1.24%, meeting the Indonesian National Standard (SNI). Sargassum polycystum from Ujung Kulon has the potential to be used as a raw material for alginate production, with applications in nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, and various other industries.

Abstract

Dietary supplementation with salt and herbal additives may influence not only the gut microbiota of cultured fish but also the bacterial communities in the surrounding water, including filtration systems. This study aimed to characterize the morphotypes and hydrolytic activity of bacteria isolated from the filtration system of Bonylip barb (Osteochilus vittatus) fed diets supplemented with salt and herbal concoctions. A completely randomized design (CRD) was employed with four treatments and three replicates: P1) Control; P2) 3% salt supplementation; P3) 10 mL/kg feed herbal supplementation; and P4) combined 3% salt and 10 mL/kg feed herbal supplementation. After 60 days of culture, bacterial isolates from the filtration system were assessed for colony morphotypes and hydrolytic activity, including proteolytic, amylolytic, cellulolytic, and lipolytic indices. Results indicated that all supplemented treatments (P2–P4) yielded a higher diversity of bacterial morphotypes compared to the control. Notably, proteolytic activity was significantly elevated in the salt-supplemented group (P2) relative to both the control and herbal-only treatments. However, salt and herbal supplementation did not significantly affect amylolytic, cellulolytic, or lipolytic activity indices. These findings suggest that dietary salt influences the functional composition of hydrolytic bacteria in aquaculture filtration systems.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of incorporating lamtoro leaf flour (Leucaena leucocephala) into formulated feed on the growth rate and survival of pearl catfish (Clarias gariepinus), as well as to determine its optimal inclusion level. The experiment was conducted using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and three replications: P0 (control/no lamtoro leaf flour), P1 (10% LLF), P2 (20% LLF), and P3 (30% LLF). Descriptive results indicated that treatment P1 (10% LLF) yielded the best performance, with a specific growth rate (SGR) of 1.82±1.14% per day, absolute length gain of 3.9±2.11 cm, absolute weight gain of 22.7±18.64 grams, and a positive allometric growth pattern. The lowest feed conversion ratio (FCR) was recorded at 5.42. Survival rates (SR) were high across all treatments, with the highest value of 100% observed in P1 and P3. However, statistical analysis showed no significant differences among treatments for all observed parameters (p>0.05), thus the null hypothesis was accepted. Water quality during the study remained within optimal ranges as specified by Indonesian National Standard (SNI) No. 3 of 2014.
