Abstract

Stunting remains a major nutritional problem in Indonesia that has long-term impacts on human resource quality. The limited capacity of community health volunteers (posyandu cadres) in providing nutrition education and family assistance contributes to the low effectiveness of stunting prevention programs at the community level. The KP-SEMAI Program (Kader Peduli – Sinergi Edukasi Masyarakat dan Aksi Intervensi) was implemented to enhance cadres’ knowledge and skills in nutrition education using innovative educational media. The program was conducted over three months (July–September 2025) in Sinar Harapan Village, Kedondong Subdistrict, Pesawaran Regency, involving 25 posyandu cadres and 100 families with children under two years old. The activities consisted of training using the SAYANGI module (Sadar ASI, Yakin, Andalkan, Giat Menyusui), field mentoring, and evaluation through pre- and post-tests. The results showed an increase in cadres’ average knowledge scores from 55 to 75 (a 37% improvement), along with a 23% increase in family participation in posyandu activities. In addition, the program produced several innovative outputs, including the SAYANGI module, family nutrition flipcharts, and an MP-ASI educational animation video utilized by Kedondong Primary Health Center as a continuous learning medium. The KP-SEMAI program effectively strengthened community nutrition literacy, enhanced cadres’ competencies, and supported the national stunting reduction initiative at the village level

Abstract

Hypertension is a major health problem with a high prevalence in Indonesia. The role of religious leaders as agents of community change is considered strategic in disseminating health information, particularly regarding the prevention and control of hypertension. This community service activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of religious leaders regarding hypertension risk factors, hypertension management, and Islamic spiritual therapy, Spiritual Emotional Freedom Technique (SEFT). The implementation method included health education and SEFT training for 25 religious leaders at the Ummulquro Islamic Community Service Center (DKM) in Tasikmalaya City. The evaluation results showed a significant increase in knowledge about the risks of hypertension (from an average of 46.40 to 66.00; p<0.05), knowledge of hypertension management (43.60 to 64.80; p<0.05), and SEFT skills (22.00 to 62.80; p<0.05). The integration of medical theory in hypertension control with Islamic values, is reflected in the message of the Prophet Muhammad SAW about eating moderately, exercising diligently, and being patient in managing emotions. Spiritual-based health education effectively increases the capacity of religious leaders as health promoters. After participating in this community service, religious leaders can integrate health messages into religious sermons in the community.

Abstract

Cardiovascular disease remains a major cause of morbidity and mortality in the community. Cardiorespiratory fitness and hemodynamic parameters such as blood pressure, heart rate, and its variability are important indicators of heart health. Cardio exercise as a form of physical intervention has the potential to improve cardiorespiratory fitness and hemodynamic conditions in the community. This Community Service Activity aims to broadcast the effects of exercise on cardiorespiratory fitness and hemodynamic parameters in the community, and to see the extent of changes that occur after regular intervention. The methods used were lectures, interviews, observations and physical examinations (pretest-posttest). Participants totaling 34 people from the local community participated in a 60-minute cardio exercise program. Parameters measured included cardiorespiratory fitness (VO₂max or estimated physical task performance), systolic and diastolic blood pressure, resting heart rate, and heart rate after activity. Results: After the exercise intervention, there was a significant improvement in hemodynamic status. The cardiorespiratory fitness status min-max from 12.93-27.67 ml/kg/min with an average value of 17.11 ml/kg/min. Conclusion: Cardio exercise has been proven to be effective as an intervention to increase cardiorespiratory fitness and improve hemodynamic parameters in the community. Regular cardio exercise programs are recommended as part of a public health strategy for preventing heart disease and improving quality of life.

Abstract

Kaluku Bodoa Community Health Center in Tallo District is among the top three areas with the highest incidence of low birth weight (LBW) cases in Makassar, recording 48 cases in 2022. A 2024 study revealed that many LBW infants had not received neonatal home visits and did not possess the Small Baby MCH Book, further exacerbated by the lack of socialization and training among health workers. Through the integration of the Healthy Indonesia Program with Family Approach (PIS-PK), empowering community health cadres in small baby care is essential to prevent stunting. This community service program aimed to enhance cadre capacity through managerial training, utilization of the Small Baby MCH Book, and the establishment of an online support forum for mothers with small infants. The activities were implemented through technical training on the integration of the Small Baby MCH Book and health education using a health coaching approach for health workers and cadres, followed by mentoring sessions at pilot Posyandu through book distribution and educational sessions using visual and guideline-based media The results of the activity demonstrated an increase in the average knowledge and skills of community health cadres and maternal and child health (MCH) healthcare providers in delivering services for mothers and infants with a history of low birth weight, with scores improving from 46.7 on the pre-test to 60.4 on the post-test., and successfully initiated the implementation of a dedicated Posyandu for LBW infants. Targeted care for small babies is a crucial effort to prevent future growth and developmental disorders, emphasizing the need for special attention and differentiated care from health professionals and cadres.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) can affect people of all ages, from young to old. It also impacts the quality of life of human resources and can become an obstacle to national development. TB can be prevented by optimizing the TOSS-TB (Find, Treat, and Cure) program initiated by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia to achieve the TB-Free 2030 target. Based on the 2023 East Java Provincial Health Profile Report, the case detection and treatment success TB rate in Pamekasan is still low, at 80,2%, which is below the national target of 90%. This activity employs an interactive educational approach to raise awareness about TB and the safety of X-ray examinations through digital gamification, then promotes public understanding of TB screenings and recommendations for visiting community health centers. This information and interactive games were designed in two languages, namely Indonesian and Madurese. The community service activity began with the creation of the application that provides information and interactive games. Socialization and hands-on application were conducted in September 2025. Sixty-five participants, including community health center heads, TB program managers, health cadres, TB patients, and community members living near TB patients, participated in this activity. Results of the Wilcoxon signed-rank test (α=0.05) showed a significant increase in participants' knowledge regarding TB (p=0.000) and knowledge regarding X-ray safety (p=0.000). Participants also experienced improved skills in operating the application as an educational tool for health cadres in the Kowel Community Health Center, Pamekasan. This activity supports the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDGs No. 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDGs No. 4 (Quality Education).

Abstract

Organ dysfunction in the elderly, including musculoskeletal dysfunction, causes a decrease in joint flexibility and mobility, which can affect the balance of the elderly, putting them at risk of falling. Based on a survey conducted at the Sidoarjo Nursing Home, there were 5 elderly people who were at moderate risk of falling and 3 who were at high risk. The purpose of the educational outreach was to increase knowledge about fall prevention, the causes and consequences of falls, and to provide balance training. The process began when caregivers at the Sidoarjo Nursing Home submitted a request to provide health information to the LPPM STIKES Katolik St Vincentius a Paulo unit, which was then approved, and community service activities were carried out. There were 26 respondents for the health education activity, which was carried out in the following stages: respondents were given a questionnaire before the education, the material was presented, respondents were given the opportunity to ask questions about the material on fall risk in the elderly and balance exercises, and then respondents were given a questionnaire after the education. The results after the health education process showed a change in the level of knowledge. Before the activity, 19 respondents (73%) had insufficient knowledge, 5 respondents (19%) had adequate knowledge, and 2 respondents (8%) had good knowledge about fall risk prevention. After receiving health education, 13 respondents (50%) had good knowledge, 8 respondents (31%) had adequate knowledge, and 5 respondents (19%) had poor knowledge about preventing falls in the elderly. Based on the results of this community service activity, we recommend that the Sidoarjo Nursing Home implement balance training for the elderly by providing assistance to help them maintain and preserve their balance to prevent the risk of falling.
