Abstract

This study aims to analyze the inequality of population distribution among sub-districts in Cilegon City and its impact on regional development in terms of infrastructure, public services, and community welfare. Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency of Cilegon City from 2024 to 2025, it was found that population distribution is highly uneven, with a population density in Cilegon District reaching 5,300 people per square kilometer, more than five times higher than that of Ciwandan District. This inequality is caused by five main factors: the centralized pull of the industrial area, infrastructure disparities, low absorption of local labor, economic oligarchy practices, and the lack of affordable housing in the southern region. The resulting impacts include infrastructure overcapacity of up to 135 percent, inequality in access to public services, and a paradoxical condition between a high Human Development Index of 79.54 and a sharp increase in the Open Unemployment Rate to 7.41 percent. This study recommends the decentralization of economic centers to the southern region, the development of north-south connectivity, improvement of local labor competencies, and inclusive governance.

Abstract

This study aims to comprehensively examine the effect of Human Resource Information System (HRIS) on employee work efficiency in the Industry 4.0 era using a literature review approach. The rapid development of information technology encourages organizations to adopt digital systems in human resource management to improve operational effectiveness and efficiency. The research method employed is a literature study by analyzing relevant scientific articles published between 2015 and 2025 from various academic databases. The analysis technique involves identification, selection, evaluation, and synthesis of the literature.The findings indicate that HRIS has a positive impact on employee work efficiency through the automation of administrative processes, improved data accuracy, and real-time access to information. HRIS implementation also enhances employee productivity and supports more effective decision-making. However, its effectiveness depends on employees’ digital competencies, system quality, and organizational support. This study provides theoretical contributions to the development of technology-based human resource management and practical implications for organizations in optimizing HRIS to improve work efficiency in the Industry 4.0 era.

Abstract

This study is based on the public’s limited understanding of heirs’ liability for the deceased’s debts under civil law. This article aims to analyze the nature of heirs’ liability for the deceased’s debts and the separation of the deceased’s estate from personal assets in providing legal protection. The research method employed is normative legal research, which views law as norms or principles that evolve within society, utilizing both a statutory approach and a conceptual approach. The data were derived from primary sources, specifically the Civil Code KUHPerdata, which serves as the primary legal framework detailing inheritance matters, as well as secondary sources, including scholarly literature such as books, academic journals, articles, and the perspectives of legal experts. The results of the study indicate that the forms of heirs’ liability for the decedent’s debts involve three positions: full acceptance of the inheritance, acceptance of the inheritance with conditions or limitations, and rejection of the inheritance. The principle of separation between the estate and personal assets plays a crucial role in providing legal protection by limiting the heirs’ liability to the value of the estate they have received.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the fundamental differences between Islamic law and civil law in determining the legal status of adopted children, particularly in relation to inheritance rights, which often lead to legal uncertainty in society. This issue becomes more complex in judicial practice, as reflected in the Decision of the High Court of Bangka Belitung Number 3/PDT/2012/PT.BABEL. This research aims to analyze the position of adopted children from the perspectives of Islamic law and civil law and to compare their application in the उक्त decision. The method used is normative legal research with a statutory approach and a case approach, supported by primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials, and analyzed qualitatively. The results show that Islamic law does not recognize adopted children as legal heirs but provides protection through the concept of obligatory bequest (wasiat wajibah), whereas civil law allows adopted children to obtain inheritance rights provided the adoption is legally valid. In the examined decision, the judges tend to prioritize substantive justice by considering the factual relationship between the adopted child and the adoptive parents. The implication of this study is the need for harmonization between the two legal systems to achieve greater legal certainty and justice in resolving inheritance disputes involving adopted children.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji peran efektivitas program pelatihan, kompetensi, dan self-efficacy dalam meningkatkan kinerja pegawai melalui pendekatan kajian literatur. Data penelitian diperoleh dari berbagai artikel ilmiah yang relevan dan dianalisis menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif untuk mengidentifikasi pola hubungan, kesamaan, serta inkonsistensi hasil penelitian sebelumnya. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa kompetensi merupakan faktor yang paling konsisten dan dominan dalam mempengaruhi kinerja pegawai secara langsung. Sementara itu, efektivitas program pelatihan dan self-efficacy menunjukkan hasil yang tidak konsisten terhadap kinerja apabila diuji secara langsung. Namun demikian, kedua variabel tersebut memiliki peran penting melalui mekanisme tidak langsung, seperti peningkatan kepuasan kerja dan pengembangan karir. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa kinerja pegawai tidak hanya ditentukan oleh faktor struktural, tetapi juga oleh faktor psikologis dan perilaku yang saling berinteraksi. Oleh karena itu, pendekatan yang integratif antara peningkatan kompetensi dan penguatan self-efficacy diperlukan untuk mencapai kinerja pegawai yang optimal dan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Advances in digital technology, particularly the use of e-wallets, have brought about significant changes in students’ transaction patterns and consumption behavior. The convenience, speed, and various promotions offered have made e-wallets increasingly popular among students, but they also have the potential to encourage consumerist behavior. This study aims to analyze the influence of e-wallet use on the consumerist behavior of students in the Faculty of Economics and Business at Madura University. The method used is a qualitative approach with a phenomenological research design. Data were collected through online questionnaires, interviews, and observations of 100 respondents selected using purposive sampling. The results indicate that e-wallet usage increases transaction frequency and encourages impulsive purchases, particularly for lifestyle-related products. Furthermore, most students do not have the habit of tracking their expenses, making it difficult for them to manage their finances. On the other hand, e-wallets also offer benefits such as transaction efficiency and easy access to digital services. Thus, the use of e-wallets has a dual impact: it serves as a tool that facilitates transactions while simultaneously having the potential to accelerate consumer behavior if not balanced with financial literacy and good self-control.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the synergy between financial inclusion and financial literacy within the digital ecosystem and its impact on the performance of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Surabaya City. The rapid development of digital financial services such as mobile banking, e-wallets, and QRIS has provided broader access for MSMEs to engage with formal financial systems. However, the utilization of these services is still not optimal due to the limited level of financial literacy among business actors. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using a literature review method by examining various academic journals, books, and official institutional reports. The findings indicate that financial inclusion in the digital ecosystem improves access to financing, enhances transaction efficiency, and supports market expansion for MSMEs. Meanwhile, financial literacy plays a crucial role in improving financial management capabilities, decision-making processes, and risk control (Lusardi & Mitchell, 2014). Furthermore, this study finds that the synergy between financial inclusion and financial literacy produces a more significant impact on MSME performance compared to when these variables are applied separately. MSMEs that have both access to financial services and adequate financial knowledge tend to experience improvements in income, operational efficiency, competitiveness, and business sustainability (Demirgüç-Kunt et al., 2018). In the context of Surabaya, the digital ecosystem acts as a supporting factor that strengthens this relationship. Therefore, strengthening financial literacy and expanding digital financial inclusion are essential strategies to improve MSME performance sustainably (OJK, 2023).

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and develop an integrative model that combines quality-based work culture, employee engagement, and digital adaptation in improving human resource (HR) performance within urban MSMEs in Surabaya. The background of this research is based on the common issue of relatively low HR performance in MSMEs, which is reflected in inconsistent work quality standards, limited employee participation in organizational processes, and suboptimal use of digital technology in daily operations. These conditions tend to reduce productivity and weaken the competitiveness of MSMEs in an increasingly dynamic business environment (Putri, 2020). This research adopts a qualitative approach using a literature review method, drawing from relevant national and international journals as well as academic books. The data were analyzed descriptively by integrating theoretical perspectives and findings from previous studies to construct a comprehensive conceptual framework. The findings indicate that a quality-based work culture plays a crucial role in establishing consistent work standards and encouraging continuous improvement (Gaspersz, 2017). Meanwhile, employee engagement significantly contributes to higher levels of motivation, commitment, and responsibility, which in turn positively affects both individual and organizational performance (Robbins & Judge, 2017). In addition, digital adaptation serves as a supporting factor that enhances work efficiency and streamlines business processes through the utilization of digital tools, such as online platforms, financial applications, and digital marketing channels (Zhao et al., 2022). The integration of these three variables creates a synergistic effect that improves productivity, output quality, and overall organizational effectiveness. In this context, employee engagement acts as a reinforcing factor that strengthens the implementation of quality-oriented work culture within a digitally driven environment (Rahman, 2021). The implication of this study suggests that MSMEs need to develop a more adaptive HR management approach that not only emphasizes work quality but also fosters employee involvement and digital capability. Therefore, the proposed integrative model can be considered as an alternative strategy to enhance HR performance sustainably and to strengthen the competitiveness of MSMEs in the era of digital transformation. Abstract

Manual Material Handling (MMH) activities at small and medium industries (SMI) frequently expose workers to musculoskeletal disorder (MSD) risks due to the absence of ergonomic assistive tools. This study presents the systematic design and development of a goods trolley for IKM Virgo Snack using the French product design method integrated with multiple Body of Knowledge (BOK) perspectives: Product Design and Development, Ergonomics and Human Factors, Design and Manufacturing Engineering, Occupational Safety, and Engineering Economics Analysis. Anthropometric data (n=30) covering standing elbow height, shoulder width, and grip diameter were collected and subjected to adequacy, uniformity, and percentile analyses to determine appropriate dimensions. Three conceptual designs were evaluated through a weighted decision matrix, and Concept 2 — a flat-platform trolley with stainless steel frame, ergonomic angled handle, and wheel locking stopper — was selected. The final design dimensions are: handle height 72 cm, platform width 45 cm, platform depth 85 cm, and wheel diameter 4 inches. Safety analysis using the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) method estimated a risk score of 3–5, indicating low to medium risk. Economic feasibility analysis using Net Present Value (NPV) and Payback Period (PP) methods yielded NPV = Rp 2,486,767 (NPV > 0) and PP = ±11 months, confirming financial viability. The manufacturing cost of Rp 707,400 is 29.4% lower than comparable commercial products, while offering enhanced safety features. This study demonstrates a replicable, data-driven framework for ergonomic tool design in SMI contexts.

Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini dilaksanakan sebagai bentuk kontribusi dalam mengenalkan digitalisasi sederhana kepada pelajar sekolah. Fokus kegiatan adalah mengajarkan pembuatan website sederhana menggunakan hosting gratis, mengubah link website menjadi QR Code untuk kebutuhan informasi menu kantin, serta memberikan pemahaman tentang proses pembuatan QRIS tanpa praktik transaksi keuangan. Kegiatan ini bertujuan meningkatkan literasi digital, membangun keterampilan praktis, dan mempersiapkan siswa menghadapi perkembangan teknologi yang semakin pesat. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa siswa dapat memahami konsep dasar website, hosting, QR Code, serta alur pembuatan QRIS.
