Abstract

The phenomenon of consumerism and hedonism increasingly dominates modern society, where wealth and entertainment are often used as the benchmark of happiness. A materialistic lifestyle and the pursuit of temporary pleasures lead to moral degradation, weaken spirituality, and shift fundamental human values. This article examines these phenomena from a religious perspective, particularly Islamic teachings, which emphasize life balance, simplicity, and true happiness based on faith. Through a literature review and theological reflection, the article reveals that consumerism and hedonism arise due to weak self-control, lack of spiritual awareness, and the influence of global culture that promotes an instant lifestyle. Religion offers solutions through the concepts of zuhd (avoiding excessiveness in worldly matters), qana’ah (contentment), and tazkiyatun nafs (purification of the soul) as paths to genuine happiness. The conclusion suggests that materialistic happiness is temporary, while spiritual happiness based on faith and morality is deeper and more sustainable. Therefore, strengthening religious values and self-awareness is essential to enable society to live proportionally, avoid falling into consumptive and hedonistic lifestyles, and return to the true essence of happiness.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning within a boarding school–based system at SMP Khairunnas Tuban by examining how instructional practices, religious habituation, and asrama culture interact to shape students’ character and religious behavior. Using a descriptive qualitative design, data were collected through in-depth interviews with diniyah teachers, participatory observation, and documentation of daily activities in both the classroom and the dormitory environment. Findings reveal that the integrated learning model combining formal PAI instruction, structured diniyah programs, continuous religious routines, and intensive teacher supervision creates an immersive educational atmosphere that significantly strengthens students’ discipline, moral awareness, and daily worship practices. Diniyah activities, particularly kitab learning and Qur’an memorization, function as the main medium of value internalization, while teachers’ role modelling reinforces moral consistency through real life examples. A disciplined dormitory structure further shapes responsible behavior and strengthens students’ self-regulation. Nevertheless, challenges such as dense schedules, student fatigue, and the need to balance firmness with compassion highlight the importance of pedagogical adjustments to maintain students’ motivation and well-being. The study contributes new insights by providing empirical evidence on the implementation of boarding-based PAI within a general junior high school context, a setting less explored in previous research. These findings offer practical implications for schools seeking to integrate academic, religious, and character education in a holistic and sustainable manner.

Abstract

Advances in knowledge and the increasingly complex demands of contemporary education necessitate innovative approaches to the management of Islamic educational institutions. Islamic Education Management can no longer rely on a single disciplinary perspective; instead, it requires an interdisciplinary framework that integrates management theory, sociology, educational psychology, and Islamic studies. This study aims to examine the significance of an interdisciplinary approach in enhancing the effectiveness of Islamic Education Management, particularly in the areas of planning, organizing, leadership, and academic supervision. Employing a qualitative library research method, this study analyzes primary and secondary sources, including indexed journal articles, educational management literature, and contemporary Islamic references. The findings indicate that interdisciplinary integration strengthens institutional governance, promotes cross-functional collaboration, and enhances institutional adaptability to social and technological changes. Furthermore, this approach contributes to the development of more holistic and contextually relevant managerial strategies. Therefore, the implementation of an interdisciplinary approach in Islamic Education Management is proven to be effective in improving institutional quality, fostering instructional innovation, and enhancing readiness to face the challenges of 21st-century education.

Abstract

This study examines methodological and stylistic distinctions between Wahbah al-Zuhaili’s Tafsir al-Munir and Muhammad al-Tahir Ibn ‘Ashur’s al-Tahrir wa al-Tanwir as two major twentieth-century Qur’anic commentaries. It assumes that the Qur’an’s ongoing relevance to modern problems depends on how exegetes manage linguistic meaning, contextual information, and the derivation of normative guidance for law and society. Using library research and comparative textual analysis, the study maps each work’s tahlili structure, linguistic tools, selection of contextual reports, and patterns of legal and ethical inference. Findings indicate that al-Zuhaili foregrounds a systematic, application-oriented fiqhi and socio-literary approach, while Ibn ‘Ashur emphasizes rational-linguistic argumentation and maqasid-based reading to articulate universal values. The study argues that the two approaches are complementary: al-Munir is strong for practical normative needs, whereas al-Tahrir wa al-Tanwir excels in deep semantic analysis and purposive interpretation. It recommends selective use according to issue type. This comparison supports balanced contemporary exegetical choices.

Abstract

The issue of the scientific dichotomy between Islamic sciences and general sciences, particularly within the Islamic Higher Education Institutions, has long been a serious topic of discussion, demanding fundamental epistemological reform. The main criticism highlights that the current pattern of development of Islamic sciences tends to be fragmentary and has not been able to establish a close connection with the dynamics and contemporary global issues. Amid this crisis, M. Amin Abdullah emerged as a thinker who offered a scientific reconstruction project through an integrative-interconnective paradigm. This idea aims to reconcile, connect, and unite religious reasoning with modern scientific and philosophical approaches, thus producing a holistic understanding of reality. This paper aims to present a descriptive-analytical analysis of the overall thinking of M. Amin Abdullah's Integration of Science and Islam. The discussion will focus on three main aspects: (1) his critique of scientific fragmentation, (2) the core concept of integration-interconnection, and (3) its philosophical foundation, namely theo-anthropocentric-integralistic epistemology visualized through a four-layer spider web concept map. Thus, this research contributes to strengthening understanding of the need for multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary approaches in Islamic studies.

Abstract

Planning is a core managerial function that determines the direction, effectiveness, and efficiency of organizational goal attainment. From an Islamic perspective, planning extends beyond technical and rational considerations to incorporate spiritual values derived from the Qur’an. This article examines the stages, framework, and ethical principles of management planning from a Qur’anic perspective and explores their implications for managerial practice, particularly in Islamic education. This study adopts a qualitative approach through library research, analyzing relevant Qur’anic verses, hadith, and scholarly literature. The findings reveal that Islamic planning comprises several key stages, including goal formulation, program and strategy development, continuous evaluation and improvement, and systematic financial planning. The Qur’anic planning framework emphasizes sincere intention (ikhlas), optimal effort (ikhtiar), reliance on Allah (tawakkal), self-reflection (muhasabah), and a balanced orientation toward worldly and hereafter objectives. Moreover, Islamic planning ethics highlight the necessity of aligning human plans with divine will, exercising tawakkul after exerting maximum effort, and accepting outcomes with contentment toward divine decree (qadha and qadar). Overall, management planning grounded in the Qur’anic perspective offers a holistic model that integrates rational, ethical, and spiritual dimensions to achieve sustainable and value-based success in both worldly and eschatological contexts.

Abstract

This study examines the epistemology of positivism within the tradition of Western philosophy of science, focusing primarily on the contributions of Auguste Comte as its principal founder. Positivism emerged as a critical response to the dominance of metaphysical and theological explanations during the medieval period, offering a scientific approach grounded in empirical observation, verification, and the formulation of universal laws. By emphasizing principles such as empiricism, scientific objectivity, verification, and the rejection of metaphysics, positivism laid the foundation for modern scientific methodology and significantly influenced the development of various disciplines, including sociology, psychology, economics, and political science. This research employs a qualitative approach using library research methods, analyzing relevant academic journals and classical philosophical works related to epistemology and the philosophy of science. The findings indicate that positivism played a crucial role in shaping the paradigm of modern scientific rationality, despite receiving substantial criticism from scholars such as Karl Popper, Thomas Kuhn, and Max Weber. These critiques subsequently gave rise to post-positivist perspectives that acknowledge the role of social context, interpretation, and human subjectivity in scientific inquiry. In the contemporary era, positivism remains relevant, particularly in quantitative research, experimental sciences, and data-driven methodologies such as big data analysis. Therefore, the epistemology of positivism can be understood as a dynamic and evolving framework that continues to adapt to the changing landscape of modern scientific knowledge.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of fundamental concepts of Real Analysis as a mathematical foundation in the development of artificial intelligence and machine learning through a literature review. Concepts such as limits, continuity, and convergence are directly related to the optimization process used in model training, making a deep theoretical understanding essential in modern computing (Goodfellow et al., 2016). Data were obtained from various theoretical books, national and international journal articles, and applied mathematics research, then analyzed using content analysis techniques to explore patterns and contributions of the literature. The results of the study confirm that Real Analysis not only serves as a theoretical foundation of mathematics but also plays a strategic role in ensuring the stability and accuracy of artificial intelligence algorithms, making mastery of these concepts a crucial requirement in supporting technological development and improving the quality of mathematics learning.

Abstract

Currently, many financial institutions (finance) and banks (commercial banks and credit) provide financing for consumers (consumer finance), leasing (leasing), and factoring (factoring). They generally use agreement procedures that include the existence of fiduciary guarantees for fiduciary objects, but in reality, there are still agreements made under the hands in other words, the fiduciary guarantee object is not registered at the Fiduciary Registration Office. Therefore, this article is to find out the registration of fiduciary objects as debt guarantees and legal protection for debtors. This article is analyzed using a normative juridical approach which is researched from library materials and interprets theoretical matters concerning the conception, principles, legal norms, and doctrines related to the fiduciary object as a debt guarantor which is the subject of the problem. As a result, the party (the debtor) does not neglect his rights and responsibilities as a debtor. Because when the debtor intentionally or due to circumstances is proven to be negligent or breach of contract, the legal protection for the debtor is weak or has no legal force.

Abstract

The right to education is a fundamental right of every child that must be guaranteed by the state, including neglected children as a vulnerable group. In practice, however, the fulfillment of the educational rights of neglected children still faces various challenges, requiring a comprehensive legal analysis. This study aims to examine the legal framework governing the protection of neglected children’s right to education and to analyze the obligations and responsibilities of the state in ensuring the fulfillment of this right based on Law Number 35 of 2014 on Child Protection. This research employs a normative juridical method using statutory and conceptual approaches, conducted through the analysis of relevant laws and legal literature. The results show that the Child Protection Law provides a strong normative foundation for the protection of neglected children’s right to education, particularly through provisions that impose obligations on the state to respect, protect, and fulfill children’s rights. Through the perspective of the welfare state theory, this study highlights that the fulfillment of neglected children’s educational rights constitutes a legal obligation of the state as the guarantor of social welfare. Therefore, the protection of neglected children’s right to education must be understood as an imperative state responsibility oriented toward the best interests of the child.
