Abstract

Processing purple sweet potatoes into flour is one way so that sweet potatoes can be used for a longer time. Currently, there are still many students who don't know about sweet potato flour. Therefore, the researchers tried to make purple sweet potato flour and found out the comparison of proximate tests for flour using organoleptic tests. This research used the Heat Moisture Treatment method and used organoleptic tests on 15 respondents, namely taste, color, aroma, appearance and even texture. carried out from 18 to 24 October 2023. This research was conducted at the Tarbiyah Faculty, Building A UIN Ar-Raniry. The results obtained in this study showed that 60% liked sweet potato flour very much, 20% liked it and only 13% did not like it.

Abstract

Numerous previous studies have proven the efficacy of dodecanoic acid contained by VCO as an antimicrobial, especially antiviral. The global urgency of COVID-19 treatment caused by the 2019-nCoV virus has prompted many researchers around the world to seek effective drugs to cure this infectious disease. Based on the claim that dodecanoic acid and its derivatives can be used as an antiviral, this study aims to determine the levels of VCO dodecanoic acid produced from the traditional yeast fermentation of Aceh, Indonesia. The making of VCO through fermentation with the addition of starter yeast as much as 10% in coconut milk. Analysis of dodecanoic acid levels was performed using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy (GC-MS). The results showed that the composition of dodecanoic acid in VCO-pe was higher than VCO-ti. VCO-pe contains about 44.23% dodecanoic acid, while VCO-ti contains about 43.63% dodecanoic acid. The composition of dodecanoic acid contained in VCO-pe was higher than VCO-ti. The composition of dodecanoic acid in VCO has met APCC standards, namely 43.0% -53.0%. These results could append new information about the application of dodecanoic acid in VCO as an antiviral candidate against 2019-nCoV which causes the COVID-19 outbreak. Keywords: antimicrobial, coronavirus, COVID-19, levels of lauric acid, virgin coconut oil

Abstract

It is appropriate to instill IMTAQ values in science, especially biology, so that students not only understand scientific facts, but also the divine meanings in them. This research aims to determine the feasibility of a biology module integrating IMTAQ values with a problem based learning approach to the environmental pollution sub-material. This module development research refers to the EDDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Development or Production, Implementation or Delivery and Evaluations). The subjects of this research were 30 students of the Biology Education Study Program, Muhammadiyah University of Aceh. The data collection instrument used an IMTAQ-based biology learning module feasibility questionnaire. From the research results, the percentage of module validation by material experts was 78,13% (quite valid). Meanwhile, the percentage of material validation in the area of integration of IMTAQ values was 83.5% (very valid)., and the percentage of modules by media experts was 77,17% (quite valid). The student assessment of the module obtained a percentage of 81,40% which means that the module is suitable for use as teaching material. The average N-Gain score was 0,86  which means in the high category.

Abstract

Jamblang (Syzygium cumini L.) is one of the traditional Acehnese plants that has many health benefits. The purpose of this study was to determine the results of phytochemical screening on the methanol extract of jamblang peel (Syzygium cumini L.) which has the potential as antidiabetic. This study used a qualitative descriptive research design to determine the results of phytochemical screening. Phytochemical screening was carried out using several reagents, with the types and levels adjusted to the type of phytochemical test. Phytochemical tests carried out included: tests for alkaloids, flavonoids, polyphenols, saponins, tannins, terpenoids, and essential oils. The results showed that there were alkaloids (mayer formed a white precipitate, Wagner formed a brown precipitate, Dragendorff formed a red precipitate), terpenoids formed a red precipitate, saponins formed a foam, flavonoids formed a red color, phenolics formed a green color and tannins formed a white precipitate. Flavonoids are antioxidant compounds that are able to ward off free radicals. One of the derivatives of these flavonoids is quercetin and kompferol which are thought to act as antidiabetic because they can repair damage to pancreatic beta cells. Keywords: Phytochemical Screening, Methanol Extract of Jamblang Bark (Syzygium cumini L., Antiabetic.

Abstract

Breast milk contains immune substances that provide protection against various diseases and also contains enzymes that will help digestion. The results of a pre-survey conducted in Desa Penanggalan, Kota Subulussalam, showed that the coverage of babies that receiving exclusive breast milk had not reached the target. One of the factors causing the low level of breastfeeding for babies is due to the lack of breast milk production coverage. This research aims to determine the type of plants used by the Pak-Pak people of Subulussalam and processing method. This type of research uses a qualitative approach with a purposive sampling method. Data collection techniques in the field are carried out using observation, structured interviews and documentation. The subjects in this research were all Pakpak tribal people from Penanggalan Village who used plants for the adequacy of post-natal breast milk and the object of this research were the types of plants used for the adequacy of post-natal breast milk. The research results showed that there were 16 species from 12 families. The most widely used plants are vegetables. The most common processing method is by boiling 75%, consuming 13% directly, processing it into food and extracting 6% each by the Pakpak tribe community, Penanggalan Village, Subulussalam City.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the improvement of generic skills in problem solving science and learning and technology of ATRO Banda Aceh students on the anatomy and physiology of the respiratory system. The method used in this study is a pre-experimental design using a one group pretest-posttest research design. The population in this study were 46 people with a sample of 30 people, the sample selection was done by purposive sampling. The results of the study using t-test analysis with the pretest results of students being 70.8, while the posttest average value of 78.9 showed an increase in students' generic science skills after the learning process. The conclusion of this study shows that using the distance method can also improve students' generic science skills. It is hoped that there will be further research on improving generic science skills using a visual laboratory as a support for online learning. Keywords: keterampilan generik sains, pretest, posttes

Abstract

Science and technology are two things that cannot be separated from human life. Almost all aspects of human life today have been touched by technological products which are the application of scientific concepts, STM is a learning model that can invite students to find new ideas or ideas that exist in society so that they can make students active and motivated. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the science and technology community (STM) approach to student learning outcomes on the concept of ecosystems. The method used in this study is a quantitative descriptive experimental method. The results obtained are the tcount value of 5.80, with a significant level of α = 0.05 and dk = 68, the value of t(1- α) = t(0.95)(68) = is 1.67. The conclusion of this study shows that students who are taught using the STM approach have better learning outcomes than those who do not use the STM approach to the ecosystem concept at SMA Negeri 1 Seunagan, Nagan Raya Regency.
