Abstract

This article amis to explain Gus Dur’s concept related to multicultural Islamic education based on Indonesian concept.By using library Research method, this study provides some concept of Gus Dur. He argued that cultural diversity which has positive connotations can be realized by several aspects, one of them is education. As a figure that was usually called as the Father of Pluralism and Multiculturalism, he explained that education should be varied and based on its culture. The variety in education does not mean deviating the education goal, but it is an attempt to achieve the goal of education in varied ways. The paradigm of multicultural education includes subjects which discuss about injustice, poverty, oppression and backwardness of minority groups in the field of social, culture, Economisc, education, etc. This paradigm will encourage the growth of studies on "ethnic studies" to find its place in the educational curriculum from the elementary level up to university level. Further it also includes a notion of consideration of education policies and strategies in a multicultural society.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate psychological well-being of SMP Terbuka students which is predicted influenced by emotional intelligence and social support. The initial assumption proposed in this study is that emotional intelligence and social support can predict the psychological well-being. The samples taken in this study were 100 students of SMP Terbuka Cirebon. They were taken by using cluster random sampling. The measuring instruments used in the study consist of 3 scales. First, the scale of psychological well-being which was based on the aspects of Ryff (1989) consists of 30 items with a correlation coefficient from 0,312 to 0,590 and an alpha coefficient 0,887. Second, the scale of emotional intelligence which was based on aspects of the Goleman (2002) consists of 29 items with a correlation coefficient from 0.331 to 0,631 and an alpha coefficient 0.897. Third, the scale of social support which was based on aspects of Cohen and Syme (1985) consists of 28 items with correlation coefficient from 0,350 to 0,624 and an alpha coefficient 0,895. The method of data analysis used in this study was multiple regression analysis. Regression analysis showed F = 63,883, p = 0,001 (p<0.05) and R2 = 0,568, which means emotional intelligence and social support can predict psychological well-being of SMPT Terbuka students.

Abstract

This present study aims to investigate the concept of a behavioral approach in handlingstudents’ indiscipline as a result of their parents’ divorce. It is one of approaches inguidance and counseling to change maladaptive behavior into adaptive one. Thebehavioral approach is deemed appropriate to deal with the students’ indiscipline atschool so as to have good behavior. The students’ indiscipline is due to the students’internal factor, including their family background in terms of a divorce case. Aqualitative descriptive approach was employed in this field research. The resultspromote that if assessment was done, planning could be expanded on the process of counseling. It started from the contract of counseling and went up to relaxation,modeling, rewards and punishment, as well as a follow-up phase.

Abstract

Early childhood education is very important and basic. In this step the parents should be really pay attention for their children education. In choosing education institution as well as choosing to teach their children by themself at home. In early childhood education should pay attention about their children intelligency, besause among one child to another is different. The parents as well as the teacher should identify their children intelligency in order to give direction and develop their intelligency maximally. In this decade, a children said to be intelligence is masterinh mathematic or science., and actually there are many children are not mastering this two aspects, those are mathematic and science become frustated to compete the achevement. in fact, the are so many update development appear relate to someone's intelligency and there are many facts about many succeed people is not always comparable with mathematic and science competence.The intelligency nowadays is not only viewed from two aspect competences above, but also is categorized in many kinds of intelligencies such as stated by Howard Gardner.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of countries which strongly struggle to reach Justice and Equality ofGender (KKG). This article aims to describe the internalization of gender in theeducation curriculum. The research method used in this study is library Research method by collecting some data from relevant sources such as books, and articles related to the main discussion. The research result shows that based on the Presidential Instruction No. 9 of 2000, the government has given an instruction to apply gender mainstreaming into all aspects of development including educational development. In this case, it is necessary to design a gender based curriculum which integrates gender into education curriculum through the school management, learning process, students’ activity, as well as school culture.

Abstract

This article explores the challenges and existence of madrasah diniyah (Islamicschools), one of Islamic educational institutions, that significantly contributes to thedevelopment of education in Indonesia. Nowadays, madrasah diniyah is classified into two categories, namely: madrasah diniyah takmiliyah (MDT/non-formal Islamic education) and formal diniyah/Islamic education (PDF). The existence of madrasah diniyah, as the entity of Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia, has found lots of challenges both externally and internally. Currently, the challenges in this respect are derived from the internal sector (the government/the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Republic of Indonesia). They refer to the government policy of full day school (FDS). This policy is deemed to have negative effects on eroding the existence of madrasah diniyah as the entity of Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia. Interestingly, those challenges motivate madrasah diniyah as educational institutions that emphasize social functions to communities, particularly village communities.

Abstract

This study aims to portray the role of teachers in fostering the framework of Islam rahmatan lil alamin. It is worth noticing to declare that education is one of very pivotal themes in Islam. Millennial era is a digital and online era that illustrates the vast advancement of technology, including the use of social media. There is lot of information provided in the internet. On the other side, students have no ability yet to filter any information that they got. This condition encourages teachers to guide their students in filtering the internet content. This study reveals that teacher responsibilities in the millennial era are very complex. A teacher plays an important role as not only an instructor, but also an educator. It indicates that the role of teachers is not only teaching or transferring knowledge, but the most important thing is creating good behavior of the students. They are encouraged to have not only good academic qualification, but also good moral values such as rahmatan lil alamin values including humanity, cooperation, prophetic social ethic, tolerance and pluralism, balance, good modeling, dialogic pedagogy, and the enhancement of human resources.

Abstract

Islam constitutes the perfect and universal religion for a lifetime that has the vision of guiding human beings for better life. Islam is the religion that becomes a blessing for the whole universe. It is in line with the mission of Islamic teachings, which is to protect humans from all the forms of anarchy and injustice. At the level of values, Islam completely models kindness and noble morality as well as prohibits all bad behavior, violence, or cruelty. The dream of ideal morality in Islam is to build the world, in which both Muslims and non-Muslims live in justice, peace, love, and harmony. The dream of morality becomes the responsibility of all elements of society, particularly religious figures and intellectuals to catch moral messages of religion that are able to promote harmonious understand the definition, characteristics, and mission of Islam so that they do not need to bring the name of Islam for the sake of individual, group, or political party. Likewise, there will be no more extreme views that demonstrate the name of Islam aimed at committing the actions of terrorism, in which Islam is regarded as the religion performing terrorism.

Abstract

This current study highlights the paradigm of KH. MA Sahal Mahfudh’s perspective on the concept of social fiqh (a worthy alternative to international Islamic jurisprudence) and the transformation of education in pesantren (Islamic boarding school). It was qualitative study by conducting library research. The findings promote that in his perspective, the education in pesantren is not merely Islam-oriented (tafaqquh fi al-din), but also plays a pivotal role in the students’ lives as well as the transformation into a shalih (good) and akram (noble) society, which is in line with the leadership principles of human beings. In relation to the social fiqh, KH. Sahal has asserted that fiqh does not refer to the concept of dogma and norms, but the active and progressive one so that fiqh always develops from time to time. It implies that fiqh does not demonstrate the stagnancy of its implementation in life. Meanwhile, the transformation of education in pesantren is generally viewed that this kind of boarding school functions as an institution of tafaqquh fi al-din, yet it is integrated with the content of additional learning materials. This content attempts a system of education that provides the students with various life skills as well in regard to the era of modernization. In KH. Sahal’s point of view, the transformation of education in pesantren can be identified indetail through the transformation of education components, namely: institution, organization, curriculum, methodology, and teachers.

Abstract

The development of education has revealed a lot of educational ideology which makes some education practitioners often change the curriculum and educational model. This reality, then, leads to the changes of Indonesian curriculum which consequently shows that Indonesian education ideology is inconsistent. Actually, without following the western education ideology, Muslim practitioners in Indonesia should be able to maintain and use their own education ideology, namely Islamic education ideology. Because of its universal and transcendental characteristic, Islamic education ideology can give the newest and up-to-date format for the era development. This paper describes the concept of each ideology and their meeting points. The research method used in this study is library research method, and the data was analyzed by using content analysis method. The reserch result shows that the meeting points of those ideologies are divided into four concepts. First, the objective of education is to optimize the human resource. Second, the concept of human being is that human is the most noble and creative creation. Third, the education curriculum should be applicable. Forth, it is better to use guidance and counseling method in guiding students in solving their problems.
