Abstract

Gastritis is a common digestive disorder. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), gastritis is an inflammation of the gastric mucosa that can be acute or chronic. Robbins & Cotran explain that gastritis occurs due to mucosal inflammation triggered by various factors such as Helicobacter pylori infection, alcohol, stress, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Globally, gastritis remains a significant health problem. In 2021, an estimated 27.20 million people worldwide were living with gastritis and duodenitis, with an incidence rate of 323.24 per 100,000. Meanwhile, in Indonesia, gastritis is a digestive system disease with a relatively high prevalence. National data shows that the prevalence of gastritis has been reported to reach 40.8% of the population. In the context of public health, the incidence of gastritis is significantly influenced by diet, particularly the consumption of foods that can irritate the stomach. Local food is food produced, processed, and consumed locally, such as traditional foods made from tubers, local agricultural products, and traditional dishes. Local food consumption patterns are often influenced by customs, culture, and food availability. While some local foods are healthy and support digestive function, others can trigger stomach irritation if consumed in excess or prepared improperly, such as if they are too spicy, sour, fatty, or fried repeatedly. Therefore, based on existing data, an outreach program on gastritis was conducted in Tanjung Kemuning III Village, targeting the community

Abstract

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease that has become a public health problem due to its increasing prevalence and the risk of complications it causes. Low public awareness of early detection and the adoption of a healthy lifestyle are the main factors contributing to the difficulty of controlling hypertension at the community level. This community service activity aims to increase public knowledge and awareness of hypertension prevention and control through a promotive and preventive approach. The activity was carried out in RT 09, Jembatan Kecil Village, Singaran Pati District, Bengkulu City, using methods of early detection health checks, health education, and hypertension exercises. The target of the activity was adults and elderly people who had risk factors for hypertension. The results of the activity showed that of the 20 participants who underwent health checks, 10 were detected to have hypertension. Health education was able to increase the community's understanding of hypertension, risk factors, and the importance of regular blood pressure checks. The hypertension exercise was actively participated in by 33 participants and had a positive impact on the community's motivation to apply physical activity as non-pharmacological therapy. It can be concluded that this community service activity was effective in increasing community awareness, knowledge, and participation in hypertension control. Similar activities

Abstract

Dental caries is one of the most common health problems among elementary school children and is generally caused by improper toothbrushing habits, frequent consumption of sugary foods, and low levels of knowledge regarding oral and dental health. This caries prevention education activity was carried out for students at SDN 02 Sukasari with the aim of increasing children’s knowledge and awareness about caries prevention through interactive counseling, demonstrations of proper toothbrushing techniques, and education about foods that affect dental health. The implementation methods included delivering educational material, hands-on practice, and simple assistance provided by community service (KKN) students. The results of the activity showed an increase in students’ understanding and behavior regarding the importance of maintaining oral and dental hygiene. This intervention proved effective as a promotive and preventive effort to reduce the risk of dental caries in children and is recommended for continuous implementation in other school environments.
