Abstract

The most important objective of implementing community service (PKM) is to emphasize the focus on efforts to measure the level of community participation in the development of sustainable rural tourism. It involves collaboration between educational institutions and the communities they serve. However, most of the community service carried out by lecturers is carried out independently, and a small portion is supported financially by the relevant universities. Apart from that, there are still many tourist villages that have a lot of tourism potential but have not received adequate assistance because they have many limitations such as limited road access, access distance, limited costs and so on. This condition is a challenge for universities in Indonesia in improving the quality of community service programs. This research aims to provide recommendations for optimizing PKM with a mix of offline and online or also called blended-based PKM, so that it is hoped that it can maximize assistance to tourist villages in sustainable tourism development. This research uses a descriptive research method with a qualitative approach with a systematic literature review method, observation and SWOT analysis of both types of programs and provides alternative solutions based on the results of the analysis. The data source used is secondary data, which comes from journal articles and other reference sources that are relevant to the topic of discussion. Based on the research results, it was found that implementing online PKM can help answer offline PKM problems but in reality it is not yet effective, so there is a need for a mix of online and offline PKM, namely blended-based PKM so that PKM becomes more effective. Apart from that, blended-based PKM will have an indirect impact in accordance with UNWTO's Sustainable Development Goals, namely number four, Quality Education and number eight, namely Decent Work and Economic Growth. So, with the development of this blended-based PKM program, it is hoped that it can increase sustainable tourism development through improving the quality of education in assisting tourist villages as well as increasing decent work and economic growth in tourist villages.

Abstract

By strengthening the role of Bahasa Indonesia in the tourism industry, Indonesia can enhance the traveler experience, expand its tourism market, and promote its rich culture and nature to the world. Thus, providing basic information in Bahasa Indonesia in popular tourist destinations can help foreign tourists to better interact with their surroundings, even though Bahasa Indonesia is not the primary foreign language for most international tourists. The research method used in this research is literature review or literature study. Indonesian has a positive value for the world of Indonesian tourism such as the development of vocabulary use. But on the one hand it has a negative value, namely the non-optimal function of Indonesian as a means of disclosing tourism industry products in Indonesia. In this case, it needs help from various parties such as the government in order to implement the use of Indonesian in the tourism industry in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study examines the role of waiters' English language skills in improving service quality at Compass Rose Restaurant Hotel The ANMON Resort Bintan. As an international language, English plays a vital role in the hospitality industry, especially in the interaction between waiters and foreign guests. This study aims to analyze the level of waiters' English language skills, identify their impact on service quality, and formulate recommendations for service improvement. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through direct observation and in-depth interviews. The research informants consisted of 1 food and beverage manager, 1 supervisor, 10 waiters, and 6 restaurant guests, who were selected to provide comprehensive data on the role of English language skills in the context of restaurant service. The results of the study indicate that the waiters' English language skills are still not optimal, especially in the speaking aspect. This limitation has an impact on miscommunication in the food and beverage ordering process, which results in inconsistencies in orders and complaints from guests. This condition has a significant impact on the level of guest satisfaction and overall service quality. Based on these findings, this study recommends the importance of a consistent and structured English language training program under the coordination of the food and beverage manager. This program is aimed at improving the English language competence of waiters, especially in practical communication aspects relevant to service tasks in restaurants. The implementation of these recommendations is expected to improve the quality of service and create a more satisfying dining experience for Compass Rose Restaurant guests.
