Abstract

This study is aimed to analyse: (1) the symptoms of bipolar disorder as reflected in the main character of Spinning Out (2020) series, and (2) the mental condition of the main character as a bipolar sufferer reflected in the Spinning Out (2020) series. The researcher uses the qualitative method to examine the problem. The object of this study is the character Kat Baker in the Spinning Out (2020) series. The data used in this study is collected by the researcher through some steps, namely watching and reading, identifying, classifying, and selecting. In order to answer the problem statement and draw a conclusion from this study, the selected data is analyzed by the researcher through some steps, namely displaying, explaining, and interpreting. The approach and theory that the researcher uses to analyze the problem is psychology of literature and psychoanalysis. The result of this study shows that (1) the symptoms of bipolar disorder as reflected in the main character of Spinning Out (2020) series are depicted through various characteristics that occur in depressive and manic episode, anxiety, low self-esteem, libido issues, and self-harm; and (2) the mental condition of the main character as a bipolar sufferer makes her become an impulsive and overprotective person.

Abstract

This study is aimed to analyse: (1) the portrayal of lower caste people in India in The White Tiger (2021) movie, and (2) the psychological transformation of the protagonist presented in The White Tiger (2021) movie. The researcher uses the qualitative method to examine the problem. The object of this study is movie The White Tiiger (2021). The data used in this study is collected by the researcher through some steps, namely watching and reading, identifying, classifying, and selecting. In order to answer the problem statement and draw a conclusion from this study, the selected data is analyzed by the researcher through some steps, namely displaying, explaining, and interpreting. The approach and theory that the researcher uses to analyze the problem is sociology of literature and psychology of literature. The result of this study shows that (1) the portrayal of lower caste as portrayed by the lower caste characters of The White Tiger (2021) movie are depicted through various occurences including poor living condition, unfair treatment and bound by traditions (2) the personality change of the protagonist makes him change from a loyal servant to a disloyal servant.

Abstract

This study is aimed to analyse: 1. The deconstruction concept of Truth of healthcare This study is aimed to analyse: 1. To explain the deconstruction concept of Truth as reflected in The Good Nurse (2022), 2. To explain The deconstruction concept of Lies as reflected in The Good Nurse (2022),3. To explain The deconstruction concept of Morality as reflected in The Good Nurse (2022). The researcher used a qualitative method to examine the problem. The object of this research is the character of Charles Cullen in the movie The Good Nurse (2022). The data used in this study were collected by the researcher through several steps, namely watching and reading, identifying, classifying, and selecting. In order to answer the problem formulation and draw conclusions from this research, the data that has been selected is then analyzed by the researcher through several steps, namely displaying, explaining, and interpreting. The approaches and theories that researchers use to analyze the problem are deconstruction theory and the concept of Truth, the concept of Lies, and the concept of Morality. The results of this study show that (1) deconstruction. truth reveals that Charles Cullen, despite appearing to be a good and professional nurse, is actually a serial killer. (2) The deconstruction of lies in this movie reveals how lies can be personal and institutional. (3) The deconstruction of morality in The Good Nurse (2022) reveals the complex moral conflicts in the world of healthcare, questioning our view of right and wrong in the healthcare profession.

Abstract

This study is aimed to analyze : (1) Chinese immigrant parenting style in U.S.A towards main character’s psychological condition reflected in Turning Red (2022), (2) the effect of parenting style on the main character’s emotion and behavior is presented in Turning Red (2022). The study uses descriptive qualitative method to analyzed the film entitled Turning Red (2022) directed by Domee Shi as the objective research. The collecting data of the research method includes watching and reading, identifying, classifying, and selecting. The analyzing data of the research method by used exposing, explaining, and interpreting. The researcher analyzes the data by uses psychology of literature and parenting style approach in doing the process of the research. The result of the study: the parenting style of Chinese immigrant in U.S.A element within this research. They are firstly, psychological condition which belongs to main character is dominate with the id. It means that the id, ego, and superego are not balanced. Secondly, the effect of parenting style clearly describe on the main character which are convey their emotions in the wrong way, are not good at making decisions, lack self-confidence, and often compare themselves with other people.

Abstract

This study is aim to analyze: (1) the representation of characters in Edgar Allan Poe’s works in The Pale Blue Eye (2022) film, and (2) the similarities and dissimilarities between the biography and the character of Edgar Allan Poe in The Pale Blue Eye (2022) film. The study uses a descriptive qualitative method to analyze the film entitled The Pale Blue Eye directed by Scott Cooper as the objective research. The collecting data of the research method includes watching, reading, identifying, classifying, and selecting. The researcher analyzes the data by using Linda Hutcheon’s theory of Adaptation and Transformation. It is done through some steps as displaying, explaining, and interpreting. The result of this research shows that: (1) the representation of some of Edgar Allan Poe’s works in The Pale Blue Eye includes “The Premature Burial,” “The Tell-Tale Heart,” “The Pit and The Pendulum,” “Lenore,” “The Gold-Bug,” and “Landor’s Cottage.” These works serve as crucial elements in establishing the main characters, including Augustus Landor, Edgar Allan Poe, and Lea Marquis, contributing to the portrayal of their personalities, motivations, and relationships; (2) there are similarities between the character depicted in the film and the real life Poe, such as an interest in poetry, French language skills, training at the West Point Military Academy, and alcohol preference and there are also differences, such as involvement in murder investigation, military discipline, financial problems, family relationships, and literary recognition.

Abstract

This study attempts to examine how the 2019 David Michod film "The King" depicts revolt and the monarchical order. The film tells the tale of Prince Hal, who succeeds his father, King Henry IV, as King Henry V. Hal had to deal with a number of difficulties as a young monarch, such as disagreements with disobedient noblemen. Qualitative approaches are the primary tool used in this study. The 2019 film "The King" serves as the primary source of data. The process of gathering data involved reading, observing, recognizing, categorizing, and choosing pertinent information. As part of the data analysis process, the data were presented, clarified, and interpreted using conflict theory. According to the findings, the film portrays the monarchical system of medieval Europe, in which the king, who holds the throne for successive generations, possesses ultimate power. The film also depicts insurrection brought on by dissatisfaction with the king's choices. In addition, the movie looks at how unrest could be sparked by instability and discontent inside the royal circle.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze : (1) the temperament of the characters in the American and Korean versions of the film Little Women, (2) the comparison of human temperaments in the American and Korean versions of the film Little Women. The study uses a descriptive qualitative method to analyze the objective of the research, which is Little Women (2019) American movie directed by Greta Gerwig, and Little Women (2022) Korean drama directed by Kim Hee Won. The researcher analyzes the data by using a Comparative Literature Study with the Human Temperament theory by Immanuel Kant. The result of the study : (1) the characters’ temperament of soul presented in the Little Women (2019) movie and Little Women (2022) Korean drama is Choleric Temperament in characters Jo March and Oh In-Kyung, Phlegmatic Temperament in the character Meg March and Oh In-Hye, Melancholic Temperament in character Beth March and Oh In-Joo, and Sanguinis Temperament in character Amy March; (2) the comparison of the characters’ temperament of the Korean drama Little Women (2022) is inversely proportional to the characters’ temperament of the film Little Women (2019). This is mainly due to the very different backgrounds in both. The film Little Women (2019) is set in the 1980s, whereas the Korean drama Little Women (2022) is set in the present age. With such different socio-cultural conditions, the depiction of the human temperament in the scenes is very different.

Abstract

This study is aimed to analyze : (1) The concept of the American Dream reflected in the character Matthew in the Fatherhood (2021) , (2) The social and economi factors influence the journey of Matthew character in achieving the vision of the American Dream in the Fatherhood (2021) film. The study uses a descriptive qualitative method to analyze the film entitled Fatherhood (2021) directed by Paul Weitz as the objective research. The collecting data of the research method includes watching and reading, identifying, classifying, and selecting. The analyzing data of the research method by using displaying, explaining, selecting, and interpreting. The researcher analyzes the data by using theory of popular culture of American Dream. The result of the study : (1) The concept of the American Dream reflected in the character Matthew in the Fatherhood film such as hard work and resilience, family and community support, providing the best education for the childern, happiness and family unity, and courage in facing challenges; (2) The social and economi factors influence the journey of Matthew character in achieving the vision of the American Dream in the Fatherhood film include family and friends support, social stigma, community role, employment status and income, access to education and training.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze: 1) the traumatic experiences affect Alice Hart’s psychological condition in the film The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart (2023), and 2) the psychological reconciliation the character of Alice Hart in the film The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart (2023). This research uses a descriptive qualitative method to analyze the film of The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart (2023) directed by Glendyn Ivin as the objective research. The data collection methods include watching, reading, identifying, classifying, and selecting. The researcher utilized Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalysis to analyze the data through steps of displaying, explaining, and interpreting. The result of this research shows that: 1) the traumatic experiences affect Alice Hart’s psychological condition are traumatic memory, traumatic reaction of grief, panic attack as a reaction to Alice’s trauma, Alice’s anger, and Alice’s emotional reaction, 2) the psychological reconciliation the character of Alice Hart in film The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart (2023) are group support, art therapy, nature therapy.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to know whether Matching Game gives the impact or not in teaching conditional sentence at SMK Takhassus Al-Qur’an Wonosobo. The method used was classroom action research (CAR) by using qualitative and quantitative approach. The researcher used pre-cycle, cycle I and cycle II to find the data. T-test was used to analyze it. Having analyzed the data, the researcher revealed that the student’s understanding in cycle II was higher than pre-cycle and cycle I. There was positive impact in teaching conditional sentence using Matching Game at SMK Takhassus Al-Qur’an Wonosobo. The T-test result was 10.8 and T-table in degree of freedom 33 at the significant 0.05 was 2.034. The hypothesis was accepted because T-test was higher than T-table. It means that Matching Game is effective for teaching conditional sentence.
