Abstract

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the Mobile JKN application on the waiting time for outpatient services. Waiting time is the time required by patients from the moment they register at the registration desk until they receive services from health workers, such as entering the examination room or being served by a specialist doctor. The Mobile JKN application is an application for the national health insurance system, which is a form of digital transformation of the business model created by BPJS Kesehatan. This study used a quantitative method with a descriptive approach. The study was conducted at the RSUD Al-Ihsan Jawa Barat in the eye clinic. The sampling technique used the Slovin formula with a sample size of 416. The results of the study show that the minimum waiting time for outpatient respondents at the eye clinic on March 21, 2025, was 5 minutes, and the maximum waiting time for respondents was 262 minutes. The average waiting time for respondents was 70.70 minutes. The minimum waiting time for outpatients at the eye clinic on April 21, 2025, was 4 minutes, and the maximum waiting time for respondents was 179 minutes. The average waiting time for respondents was 63.82 minutes. The minimum waiting time for outpatients at the eye clinic on May 21, 2025 was 1 minute, and the maximum waiting time for respondents was 230 minutes. The average waiting time for respondents was 38.10 minutes. This is in line with the statement that the use of Mobile JKN can help the public to easily complete administrative matters using smartphones anywhere and anytime, but there are still many users who do not use the Mobile JKN application because many people do not understand how to use the Mobile JKN application and not all people have smartphones to access the Mobile JKN application. BPJS Kesehatan is expected to provide education to JKN participants regarding the benefits and added value that can be obtained through the use of the Mobile JKN application.

Abstract

This study evaluates the information security level of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system at Santosa Hospital Bandung Central using a gap analysis based on the ISO/IEC 27001 standard. The study addresses the growing need for robust patient data protection in the digital healthcare era, particularly in the face of increasing risks of data breaches and cyberattacks. A mixed-method case study design was employed, incorporating in-depth interviews, direct observations, and quantitative assessment using the ISO 27001 checklist. The findings show that several security aspects—such as confidentiality, integrity, and availability—are adequately implemented, although weaknesses remain in access control, multi-factor authentication, and documentation of information security policies. Overall, the hospital’s compliance level with ISO 27001 falls into the “adequate” category, indicating a need for stronger policies, enhanced security technologies, and regular security audits. The study is expected to support the hospital in strengthening its information governance and improving patient data protection.

Abstract

The informed consent form is a mandatory legal document that must be completed before any medical procedure, especially surgical interventions. The completeness of informed consent is essential to ensure patient safety, fulfill ethical standards in healthcare services, and provide legal protection for both medical personnel and hospitals. In practice, however, incomplete informed consent documentation is still frequently found, which may reduce the quality of medical records and increase the risk of medico-legal disputes. To determine the completeness of informed consent documentation for inpatient surgical patients at RSUD Dr. Soedirman Kebumen and to identify the components most frequently left incomplete. This study employed a quantitative descriptive design with a sample of 118 inpatient surgical medical records. Data were collected using an observation checklist based on key informed consent components, including patient identity, attending physician’s signature, clarity of procedure information, and date and time of consent. The data were analyzed descriptively by calculating the frequency and percentage of completeness for each component. Of the 118 records analyzed, 90 records (76.3%) were categorized as complete, while 28 records (23.7%) were incomplete. The highest rate of incompleteness was found in the clarity of procedure information component, with 24 incomplete records (20.3%). The attending physician’s signature was incomplete in 12 records (10.2%). Meanwhile, patient identity and date and time components each showed 3 incomplete records (2.5%). The completeness of informed  consent documentation for inpatient surgical patients at RSUD Dr. Soedirman Kebumen is categorized as adequate but does not yet meet the ideal standard (≥90%). The components most frequently incomplete were clarity of procedure information and attending physician’s signature. Improvements in healthcare personnel compliance, document format refinement, and strengthened verification systems are necessary to enhance the quality of informed consent documentation.

Abstract

Patient Safety Incidents are unintended events that pose a risk of harm to patients during the course of healthcare services. One common form is a medication error, which refers to mistakes in the medication process, particularly in the dispensing phase (errors in prepar tion and com-pounding of medications). This study aims to analyze medication errors occurring during the dispensing phase. The objective is to identify the causes and determine the percentage of medica-tion errors in the dispensing phase at the Pharmacy Department of RSUD Kesehatan Kerja, West Java Province. This study uses a descriptive analytical method with a retrospective approach. Data were collected using total sampling from all reported medication error incidents in the Pharmacy Department from July 2024 to June 2025. The results showed that the most frequent errors occurred in the category of wrong drug retrieval (72.30%), followed by labeling errors (20%), insufficient quantity dispensed (6.15%), and errors in handing over the medication to pa-tients (1.53%). No errors were found in the categories of administering drugs beyond instructions or dispensing expired or damaged medications. Preventive efforts may include implementing double checks, improving workflow systems and the physical environment, providing regular staff training, and utilizing appropriate technology.

Abstract

Smoking is a high-risk behavior commonly found among university students, including Papuan students residing in Bandung City. Exposure to toxic substances in cigarettes can trigger inflammatory processes, which can be detected through an increase in the Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR). This study aims to describe the ESR values of Papuan students who are active smokers and to examine their relationship with smoking duration. This research used a descriptive quantitative design with purposive sampling involving 30 respondents, whose ESR levels were measured using the Westergren method. The results showed that ESR values ranged from 12 to 45 mm/hour, with an average of 26.7 mm/hour. A total of 63.3% of respondents had elevated ESR levels (>20 mm/hour), while 36.7% were within the normal category. Respondents who had been smoking for more than three years had higher ESR levels compared to those who had been smoking for less than three years. This study concludes that most Papuan students who are active smokers experience elevated ESR levels, indicating the presence of inflammatory processes associated with smoking habits.

Abstract

Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) remains a major public health issue in Indonesia, with treatment adherence varying among patients. The success of TB therapy is strongly influenced by patients’ knowledge and attitudes toward medication, as well as social and family support. This study aims to describe the level of knowledge and attitudes of pulmonary TB patients toward medication adherence at Ciwaruga Public Health Center in 2025. This research used a quantitative descriptive method involving 30 pulmonary TB patients undergoing anti-tuberculosis drug (OAT) treatment at Ciwaruga Public Health Center. Respondents were selected using purposive sampling. The research instruments consisted of a knowledge questionnaire (10 true–false items) and an attitude questionnaire (10 Likert-scale items). Data were analyzed using frequency distribution and percentage. Most respondents had moderate (43.3%) and high (40%) levels of knowledge, while 16.7% had low knowledge. Regarding attitudes, 46.6% had a fairly positive attitude, 36.7% had a good attitude, and 16.7% had a poor attitude. The analysis revealed that higher knowledge tends to be associated with more positive attitudes toward medication adherence. Patients’ knowledge and attitudes significantly affect their adherence to TB treatment. Continuous education, family involvement, and regular monitoring by health workers are essential to improve treatment outcomes.
