Abstract

This study examines the effect of the porch on the adaptive thermal comfort of mosques by taking 2 mosques that have different porch shapes with the specific purpose of obtaining data on the neutrality, acceptability and preferences of the mosque respondents' thermal conditions in the framework of developing adaptive thermal comfort standards for Indonesia. Measurement of physical environment variables is done by taking data on temperature, humidity, air velocity, and mean radiant temperature (MRT) at 2 mosques and at the same time the impression and thermal preference questionnaire data are taken, examination of clothing types and activities, and list of thermal environment controls to 40 respondents in each mosque. Data of thermal neutrality and thermal preferences were analyzed by regression analysis using SPSS 19 software, while thermal acceptance was analyzed based on the results of the questionnaire answers. The analysis showed that the neutrality value at Ulul Albab mosque was Tdb = 28.47 OC, ET * = 30.11 OC, SET * = 23.11 OC, TSENS = 1.17, DISC = -1.06, and PMV = -0.65, this data shows that the neutral condition desired by respondents is slightly below the average condition, while the neutrality in Nurul Ilmi mosque at Tdb = 30.27 OC, ET * = 31.65 OC, SET * = 29.05 OC, TSENS = 1.03, DISC = 1.68, and PMV = 1.22, this data also shows that the neutral conditions desired by respondents are slightly below average conditions. While the preference value at Ulul Albab mosque is Tdb = 22.25 OC, ET * = 28.62 OC, SET * = 24.24 OC, TSENS = 0.23, DISC = 0.23, and PMV = -0.60 and preference conditions at Nurul Ilmi mosque at Tdb = 29.11 OC, ET * = 31.17 OC, SET * = 28.50 OC, TSENS = 1.04, DISC = 1.45, and PMV = 1.03. As many as 92% of respondents in the Ulul Albab mosque can accept local thermal conditions in the temperature range of 27oC - 31oC. While 90% of respondents in the Nurul Ilmi mosque can accept local thermal conditions in the temperature range of 27oC-32oC. Abstract

Sagan area is one of the historical regions in Yogyakarta. This area has a characteristic of the Dutch colonial heritage that visitors can still feel when they are there. These characteristics then become the region's identity that can give a particular feeling or impression to visitors, or can be called a sense of place. A sense of place is an essential aspect of architecture so that a design is maintained. A sense of place is defined as the bond between place and humans, which can be obtained from a combination of physical settings, activities, and meaning. This study aims to identify aspects of the sense of place, as seen from visitor preferences. The thing observed is related to the activity, physical settings, and what is felt by visitors. By knowing the preferences of visitors, it is hoped that it can be used to create a sense of place that suits the demands of today's needs. This research was conducted qualitatively and exploratively using a grounded theory approach. Data is collected through open-ended questionnaires about what respondents experienced. The data is then processed qualitatively by the method of open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. The results showed that aspects of the Sagan region's physical setting, which are still preserved in the form of simple indische architectural features and tropical architecture, are the dominant factors that can create a sense of place. But based on an analysis of visitor preferences, changes in building functions are also needed to strengthen the sense of place of the Sagan region. Building functions that fit the character of today's visitors help visitors to feel the physical setting typical of the Sagan region. Thus it can be concluded that the sense of place can not only be formed by preserving its physical settings but also needs to be conducted a review of human preferences as actors who play a role in it.

Abstract

The Islamic Sports Tourism Area is quoted from a hadith which reads from Amir al-mu'minin, Umar Al-Faruq Ibn Al-Khattab, Rasulullah Shallallahu'alaihi Wasallam said: "Teach your children to ride, swim and archery". (HR. Shahih Bukhari / Muslim). From the hadith, 3 sports can be taken clearly from the Prophet Muhammad SAW, namely horse riding, swimming and archery. These three sports will be the main function in the Islamic sports tourism area. The design method used is a field survey and documentation as well as analyzing data. The results of the design take the formation of nature in general, namely leaves. The shape of nature is in line with the theme of this design, which is biomimetic architecture. In addition to the three main functions there are also supporting functions in the form of airsoft gun, all terrain vehicles, mosques, food courts, clinics, and retail. The Islamic sports tourism area aims to accommodate community activities and is the center of activities of Islamic Sports in Pekanbaru.).

Abstract

In building design, the selection of building materials is one aspect that needs to be considered. Building materials are components that require energy in the manufacturing process. In the process of building material production, the use of energy at each stage becomes one of the parameters of CO2 carbon emission levels. The higher the use of fossil energy, the higher the CO2 emissions and the risk of causing global warming. Bricks, concrete blocks, and lightweight bricks are the types of materials commonly used to make building walls. The selection of wall materials is still largely related to price or aesthetic considerations, but the assessment of the level of environmental friendliness is still lacking in attention. This study tries to analyse the life cycle of energy in wall materials (bricks, concrete blocks and lightweight bricks). From the research results obtained, concrete block is the lowest material in the use of production energy.

Abstract

Structures in architecture acts as a load-bearing element on mechanical systems. In addition, structures can also provide spatial and aesthetic expressions in architectural with the use of certain techniques and materials that bring out the structure expression. The problem discuss in this paper relates to aesthetic parameters used to examine the structural expression on architectural. The research method used is descriptive analytical method conducted with study of the literature on aesthetics, based on parameters: visual complexity, texture and colour, symmetry of the form and familiarity using the case study of Ship Passenger Terminal building such as Qingdao Cruise Passanger Terminal, Kai Tak Cruise Terminal and Salerno Maritime Terminal. The result shows that visual complexity parameter were exposure the form of curved structures and folding structures, the use of lattice, single-mass, and different building imagery. The texture and colour parameter are subtle textures with curved patterns, use of aluminium or concrete materials, and ivory white to bring out the buildings with the color of the sea.The symmetry of the form parameter shows a natural scale, a rectangular geometric shape that is subjected to addition or subtraction, and the proportion 2:1 between the envelope and open façade. The familiarity parameter is repetition of asymmetric curved patterns form make rhythm that raises perception of the visual aesthetic of the building.

Abstract

The coronavirus outbreak is now a problem for the world community. Not only has the potential to interfere with health, the coronavirus often causes panic. In fighting the SARS-CoV virus that causes the Covid-19 pandemic, a qualified body defense is needed. Although some local governments implement quarantine policies to prevent people from being exposed to the risk of the Covid-19 virus, not all people can carry out quarantine at home because of work demands. Therefore, efforts are needed to increase endurance. In addition to workers who are required to continue working even though they have to be quarantined at home, the elderly and also children whose immune systems are still vulnerable or have decreased need to increase their immune system. The easiest way to increase body resistance is to bask in the sun. Sunbathing can be done directly outside the house and can be directly exposed to sunlight, but for some people whose body conditions are not as strong as young people, for example, the elderly, people with special needs, are vulnerable, suffer from dust allergies, and so on, this will cause new problems. So for some people who cannot go outside directly or who are less flexible, they still need sunlight for sunbathing. One way is to enter sunlight through the window openings in the house. This research was conducted with the main objective of creating a prototype or prototype window for the sunroom in the building to increase the body's immunity using the DiaLux software. The research method used in this study is a quantitative research method with an experimental approach. The stages of this research are in the form of; i) theoretical study, ii) data observation, iii) calculation, iv) window prototyping, v) analysis and synthesis, v) simulation, vi) research result generation and conclusion drawing. The result of this research is a prototype window for human sunbathing space which is expected to accommodate or provide human sunbathing space in increasing body immunity. The window prototype in the sunroom that most maximally includes natural light with a lighting intensity value of 8701 lx, namely prototype window 3 which is a window or opening on the roof of a building with dimensions of 1.20 m x 0.83 m. By providing a multifunctional sunbed, it can be an architectural solution to increase the body's immunity to prevent the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus.

Abstract

Abstract: Urban public spaces are public spaces that are visited by many urban residents with all the activities they can do. In the urban public space, various kinds of voices or sounds fill this space. Voices can be heard from any room or place in the city. The natural environment, humans, and mechanical equipment produce sound landscapes or soundscapes in the city space air. In urban public spaces, activities carried out by humans can produce artificial sound, while natural activities produce natural sound. The purpose of this study is to describe and explore the sound landscape in urban public space. This research was conduct on holidays, by observing various types of sounds and voices, the distribution of sources, time, and strength of sounds and voices to achieve the research objectives. Found that after the observation, in the open public space of Cattleya Tomang Park, West Jakarta, the results of mechanical sound sources came from the roar of motorized vehicles and the sound of construction work was more dominant than natural sounds that came from humans, trees, and animals. Research on soundscapes in urban public spaces is expected to be a basis for consideration in designing urban public spaces so that public spaces can be enjoyed more by city residents who use them.                                  Abstrak: Ruang publik kota merupakan ruang publik yang banyak dikunjungi oleh warga kota dengan segala kegiatan yang bisa dilakukan. Abstract

The density of urban settlements has resulted in poor visualization of the city, the need to improve the quality of buildings and rearrangement of the area which aims to improve the quality of visualization of the face of the city of Bandung for the better. Moreover, the area is located near one of Bandung's landmarks, namely the Pasopati bridge which is also an access to the city of Bandung. The high price of land and building materials causes a very dense residential environment, every existing land will be built as much as possible with bad construction values, of the many slum settlements in Bandung City, Tamansari is one of the settlements that are still slum. The buildings in the Tamansari area have various forms, the building area is relatively narrow and the material is minimal, and the construction is minimal. The tightness of the building distance makes road access in this area very narrow so that it cannot be used for evacuation routes and other emergency routes, another result of the density of the building is a lack of green open space or public facilities. This is what makes the visualization of this area worse and if you look at it from above the Pasopati bridge. The Pasopati Bridge is a bridge that stretches over this village and has become one of the city's icons, a bridge that connects the Pasteur area which is one of the access points to Bandung City to the center of Bandung City and across an area that has history and has even become an icon of the city of Bandung, namely Satay tower. This makes observers interested in researching slum buildings that have been built for a long time. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of slums on the banks of the Cikapundung river which is clearly visible from the bridge which is the access to the city gate of Bandung.
