Abstract

Instructional media in the learning process not only as a tool but a messenger or learning information that must be in accordance with the student needs. In this study, researchers developed a media that integrates biology learning with Mandarin so that when students learn biology, also simultaneously recognize objects in biology and organizational level of life in Mandarin. Instructional media that will be made in the cards form contains about the object and scope of biology. The purpose of this study is to measure the effectiveness of Indonesian-mandarin biology card on biology learning outcomes for secondary school. The method used is one shot case study. Research is done through the preparation, implementation, and data analysis. The results of the use media of Indonesian-mandarin card seen based on the average value of learning outcomes obtained test of 76.29% with mastery learning is in good criteria. Thus it can be concluded that the use of Indonesian-mandarin card can be one strategy to improve student learning outcomes in biology learning.

Abstract

The purpose of this researh is to find out the improvement of students affective ability of X-9 class SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta through the implementation of Learning Start with a Questions strategy along with module of Zygomycotyna experimental research. This research type is Classroom Action Research which consist of three cycles. Each cycle composed by four steps, there are planning, action, observation, and reflection. Subject of this research is students of X-9 Class SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta Seasons 2010/2011. Data of this research obtained from questionnaire, observation, and interview. Data analyzing technique use qualitative descriptive technique. Data validation technique use triangulation methods. This research show that the implementation of Learning Start with a Questions Strategy along with module of Zygomycotyna experimental research, absolutely, can improve the students affective ability, esspecially in Zygomycotyna topic. This statement based on questionnaire, observation and interview result. Averagely assesses  percentage each indicator of students affective responses questionnaire on pre cycle is 63,27 %, first cycle is 69,53 %  and second cycle is  73,75 % (worked up 4,42 %), averagely  percentage point each indicator of students affective responses questionnaire student for third cycle is 77,87% (worked up 4,12 %). Meanwhile on a percentage point each indicator which is gotten from observation result students affective responses for pre cycle is 46,50 %, first cycle  is  67,64 %  and second cycle is 72,24 % (worked up 4,6 % ),  averagely assesses  percentage each indicator which is gotten from observation result students affective responses for third cycle  is 78,49 % (worked up 6,25 % ). The students interview result are: 94,12 % student interested in implementation of Learning Start with a Questions strategy, 97,05 % student declare that they got more chance to asking questions, extend an idea (88,23%),respond the idea from another student (82,35%), and working in group to find out a problem solving (85,29 %). According to that result, we can give the conclusion that the implementation of Learning Start with a Questions strategy along with module of Zygomycotyna experimental research can improve students affective ability of X-9 class SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta season 2010/2011, esspecially at Zygomycotyna topic. Key Words: Learning start with a questions strategy, students affective ability

Abstract

This research aimed to find out whether or not there is an effect of Project Based Learning (PjBL) on the critical thinking ability of the X graders of SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyar in biology subject in the school year of 2012/2013. This study was a quasi-experimental research using Post-test Non Equivalent Group Design using cluster sampling. The population of research was all X graders of SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyar in the school year of 2012/2013 consisting of 288 students, while the sample consisted of two classes: control one containing 33 students and experiment one containing 35 students. The control class employed varied lecturing learning method and the experiment one employed Project Based Learning (PjBL) model. Technique of collecting data used was test item and observation sheet. The research hypothesis testing was done using t-test.The result of research showed that Project Based Learning (PjBL) model affected the students’ critical thinking ability. The mean score of critical thinking ability in the experiment class employing Project Based Learning (PjBL) model in learning was higher than that in control class employing varied lecturing method.The conclusion of research was that Project Based Learning (PjBL) model affected significantly the critical thinking ability of the second semester of the X graders of SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyar in the school year of 2012/2013. Key Words: Project Based Learning (PjBL) , critical thinking ability.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat validitas booklet bernuansa ESQ materi sistem gerak manusia sebagai pelengkap materi ajar biologi siswa kelas XI SMA. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode meta analisis. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menelusuri jurnal dan skripsi yang berkaitan dengan booklet bernuansa ESQ. Sampel yang digunakan adalah 16 jurnal dan skripsi yang terkait dengan pengembangan booklet bernuansa ESQ. Hasil penelitian meta analisis untuk bahan ajar berupa booklet sebesar 89,76% dengan kategori sangat valid, dan untuk bahan ajar bernuansa ESQ senilai 86,42% dengan kategori sangat valid. Berdasarkan hasil analisis dari jurnal dan skripsi tentang bahan ajar berbentuk booklet dan bernuansa ESQ, diharapkan validitas booklet bernuansa ESQ pada materi sistem gerak manusia yang dikembangkan sebagai pelengkap bahan ajar biologi untuk siswa kelas XI SMA diperoleh kriteria sangat valid.Meta-analysis of the validity of the ESQ nuanced booklet as a supplement in biology learning. This research aims to find the validity level of ESQ nuanced booklet on human movement system material as a supplement to biology instructional materials for students grade XI of high school. This research used meta analysis method. Data was collected by searching journals and thesis related to ESQ nuanced booklets. The samples used are 16 journals and thesis related to the development of ESQ nuanced booklets. The results of meta analysis research for instructional  materials in  form of booklets are 89,76% with a very valid category, and for ESQ nuanced instructional materials worth 86.42% with a very valid category. Based on the results of analysis from journals and thesis on instructional materials in  form of booklet and ESQ nunced, it hope that the validity of ESQ nuanced booklets on human movement system material  developed as a supplement to biology instructional materials for students grade XI high school obtained very valid criteria.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat keabsahan Booklet Klasifikasi Makhluk Hidup Sebagai Tambahan Ajaran untuk Kelas VII SMP. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode meta-analisis. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan mencari jurnal dan tesis yang berhubungan dengan booklet. Sampel yang digunakan adalah 18 jurnal dan skripsi yang berkaitan dengan pengembangan booklet. Hasil meta analisis penelitian untuk bahan ajar berupa booklet sebesar 87,89% dengan kategori sangat valid. Berdasarkan hasil analisis jurnal dan tesis pada bahan ajar berupa booklet, diharapkan validitas Booklet Klasifikasi Makhluk Hidup Sebagai Tambahan Ajaran untuk Sekolah Menengah Pertama diperoleh kriteria sangat valid. Meta-analysis validity of the booklet on classification of living things as supplement for seventh grader. This research aims to determine the level validity of the Booklet on Classification of Living Things as Teaching Supplement for Class VII Junior High School. This study uses a meta-analysis method. The data was collected by searching for journals and theses related to booklets. The samples used were 18  journals and theses related to booklet development. The results of the research meta analysis for teaching materials in the form of booklets amounted to 87,89% with a very valid category. Based on the results of the analysis of journals and theses on teaching materials in the form of booklets, it is expected that the validity of the Booklet on Classification of Living Things as Teaching Supplement for Junior High School obtained very valid criteria.

Abstract

The research aims to know the effect of Assessment for Learning (AfL) to argumentative skill of high school students. The  research used a quasi experimental design with nonequivalent control group design. The design consists of  control class and experiment class. Two clasess was randomly selected from 9 classes. The participants were 67 students from  grade 10 of one high school in Surakarta. Data of argumentative skill was a pre-post test of AfL. The hypothesis test using t test and paired sample t test. The results of hypothesis testing showed that the significant value gained 0.000 <0.05, therefore H0 is rejected or H1 is accepted. Abstract

Practicum is one of the learning methods that cannot be separated from Biology learning. Practicum becomes a vehicle for training and developing science process skills and scientific attitudes of students. Practicum can run well if it is carried out in accordance with the standards of practicum implementation. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of Biology practicum in Polanharjo Klaten 1 High School covering laboratory quality, management, and the implementation of 2017/2018 Biology semester practicum. This research is a descriptive research. The parameters studied included the quality of the laboratory, management of the lab, and the implementation of the Biology lab. Data collection techniques are carried out by observation, documentation, and interviews. The results showed that: (1) the quality of the Biology laboratory was in the good category with a percentage of 66.5%; (2) Biology practicum management is included in the good category with a percentage of 63.75%; and (3) Biology practicum is included in the excellent category with a percentage of 95.23%.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to improve student’s activity and motivation of class XI IPA ICT 2 SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Karanganyar academic year 2014/2015. The result of the observation which is student appeared unenthusiastic attitude towards learning is being implemented, so its needed a learning model which accommodate student’s activity and motivation learning. One of the models that accommodate and treat student’s activity and motivation learning less is discovery learning model. Kind of this research is classroom action research.The methods of data collection are through observation, questionnaire, and interviews. The data are in the form of students’ activity and motivation at every phase of discovery learning models in each cycle of the action. The analysis of the quality of percentace average observation and questionnaire of student’s activity and motivation learning. The results of the application of discovery learning model showed an increase of the quality of student’s activity and motivation. The observation quality student’s activity in the pre cycle is 38,82%, the first cycle is 66,76%, and the second cycle is 83,71%. The questionnaire quality student’s activity in the pre cycle is 51,12%, the first cycle is 75,13%, and the second cycle is 78,68%. The observation quality student’s motivation in the pre cycle is 42,86%, the first cycle is 67,30%, and the second cycle is 79,89%. The questionnaire quality student’s motivation in the pre cycle is 49,29%, the first cycle is 71,86%, and the second cycle is 76,55%.Based on the result of the research, it can conclude that the application of discovery learning model can improve student’s activity and motivation learning. Keywords: Activity, Motivation, Discovery Learning

Abstract

This research aimed to enhance quantity and quality of student’s questions in biology at grade X MIPA 1 of  SMAN 7 Surakarta academic year 2014/2015 through the implementation of project based learning. This research was a Classroom Action Research which consisting of  planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. Subject of the research was grade X MIPA 1 of  SMAN 7 Surakarta academic year 2014/2015, consisting of 28 students. Data were collected through observation, interview, and video  recording, then its collected based on revised Bloom’s Taxonomy.  Data were analyzed describe qualitatively. Data  were  validated  using triangulation methods. Research procedure using spiral model.The result of the research showed that quantity and quality of student’s questions enhance from Preaction, Cycle I, and Cycle II. Quantity of student’s questions enhance from 24 to 180 questions. Quality of students’ questions enhanced from the factual, conceptual, and procedural dimension  at  the  C1, C2, and  C3  become the factual, conceptual, procedural and metacognition dimension at the  C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, and C6. Based on the data analysis result, it can be concluded that the implementation of project based learning is able to enhance quantity and quality of student’s questions in biology at grade X MIPA 1 of SMAN 7 Surakarta academic year 2014/2015.
