Abstract

This research aimed to improve biology learning achievement with STAD type of cooperative model application in the X-F graders of SMA Negeri 1 Tangen Sragen in the school year of 2013/2014. This study was a classroom action research conducted in 2 cycles, each of wich consisted of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The indicator of achievement in this research was the student’ learning output improving to 72 from KKM (Minimum Passing Criterion) of 70. The data was analyzed descriptively qualitatively and statistically descriptively. The data validation was carried out using observer triangulation. The results of research showed that the biology learning achievement of 62,78 in pre-cycle could be increased with the application of STAD learning model to 70,52 in cycle 1 and 73,02 in cycle 2. The conclusion that could be drawn was that the application of STAD learning model could improve the biology learning achievement of the X-F graders of SMA Negeri 1 Tangen Sragen in the school year of 2013/2014. Keywords: Student Teams-Achievement Divisions (STAD), Biology Learning Achievement.

Abstract

The research aims to examine the influence of Problem Based Learning model on science process skills and biology learning achievement. This research held upon senior high school student of SMA Negeri Jumapolo in academic year 2013/2014. This research was a quasi-experimental. This research design used was posttest Only Control Group Design with the experiment grup applying Problem Based Learning model and control group applying conventional learning model. The population of research was all X graders of SMA Negeri Jumapolo in academic year 2013/2014. The technique sampling used was Cluster Sampling. The sample of research consisted of  X.2 grade as the experiment group and X.3 grade as control group. Techniques of data collecting using tests, observation and documentation. Documentation was using skor of the 2nd half of the school year test in academic year 2013/2014. Essay test to measure learning outcomes of knowledge. Observation sheet for measure of science process skills and attitude domains of learning outcomes. The hypothesis testing using Manova test with SPSS version 16. This research concluded that the Problem Based Learning affected significantly the science process skills (Sig. 0,001 < 0,05) and the biology learning achievement in knowledge domains (Sig. 0,008 < 0,05) but has no affected significantly on biology learning achievement in attitude domains (Sig. 0,615 > 0,05) of the X graders SMA Negeri Jumapolo in academic years 2013/2014. Keywords: Problem Based Learning, Science Process Skills, Learning Outcomes in Biology

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to improve student’s critical thinking skill on Environmental Pollution Subject at class X MIA 3 of SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta. The research is a Classroom Action Research with 2 cycles of action. Each cycle consist of 4 phases which is planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The result of the observations showed, 1) interpretation skill 43.97%, 2) analysis 29.31%, 3) evaluation 32.76%, 4) inference 43.10%, 5) explanation 53.45%, and 6) self-regulation 52.59%. Average of students’ critical thinking skill procentage is 42,53%. The method of data collection is through observation, tests, and documentation. Technical analysis of data is technical qualitative descriptive. Data validation is use triangulation methods. The results of the application of Problem Based Learning on Environmental Pollution Subject showed an increase of students’ critical thinking skill. Students’ critical thinking skill in the first cycle is 70,83%. Students’ critical thinking skill in the second cycle is 75%. Based on the result of the research, we can conclude that the application of Problem Based Learning on Environmental Pollution Subject in general can improve students’ critical thinking skill at class X MIA 3 of SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta, despite the increase that occurs varies in each cycle. Keywords : Critical Thinking Skill, Problem Based Learning

Abstract

The research is aimed to improve higher order thinking skills students at class X IPA of SMA through the implementation of discovery learning model on the ecosystem subject. This research was a classroom action research which consists of two cycles. Each cycle contains four phases which were planning, acting, observing and reflecting. The subjects were students at class X IPA of SMA totaling 32 students. The data collecting techniques of this research were using test method obtained through essay test, and nontest method obtained through observation, interview, and documentation. The primary data is advanced higher order thinking skill of students with Bloom revised taxonomy to analyzing, evaluating, and creating measured using essays in accordance researchers any material indicators of ecosystem. The Data validate of this research were triangulation method. Analysis of data using qualitative descriptive analysis technique. The Target of research is to increase the higher order thinking skill’s students ≥25. The increase in higher order thinking skills results by the increasing student achievement of the average score of aspects of higher order thinking skills students were: 1)aspect analyzing of 52.66 with the moderate criteria of being at base line be 66.98 with the moderate criteria of being in the cycle I, then the the cycle II into 80,52 with a high criteria, 2)evaluating aspects of 45.83 with low criteria on base line be 64.17 with the moderate criteria of being in the cycle I, then on the cycle II into 73.96 with moderate criteria, and 3)creating aspects of 50,31 with the moderate criteria of being at base line be 68,49 with the moderate criteria of being in the cycle I, then on the cycle II into 76,35 with high criteria. Implication of discovery learning can increase the high order thinking skills students in base line, Cycle I and Cycle II. The score of test each aspect of higher order thinking skill aspect were: 1)analyzing increased by 27,86, 2)evaluating an increase of 28,13 from, and 3)creating increased by 26,04. This conclusion was implementation of discovery learning could improveas much as ≥25 of high order thinking skills students at class X IPA of SMA. Keywords : higher order thingking skill, discovery learning

Abstract

Data yang ditemukan di kelas VII SLH Way Pengubuan Lampung menunjukkan bahwa siswa kurang mampu bekerja sama dalam kelompok khususnya pada mata pelajaran IPA Terpadu. Metode Think Pair Share dipilih untuk menyelesaikan masalah kerja sama pada mata pelajaran IPA Terpadu. Penelitian dilakukan berdasarkan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas model Pelton. Sumber data yang digunakan adalah umpan balik mentor, jurnal refleksi, lembar observasi mentor, dan lembar angket siswa.Berdasarkan penelitian yang dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa penerapan metode Think Pair Share dengan langkah-langkah, (1) siswa dibagi ke dalam sembilan kelompok; (2) siswa diberikan tugas yang berbeda-beda oleh guru; (3) siswa mengerjakan tugas secara mandiri; (4) siswa berdiskusi dengan teman kelompoknya tentang tugas yang diberikan; dan (5) siswa berbagi informasi dengan rekannya, memberikan perubahan terhadap kerja sama siswa kelas VII di SLH Way Pengubuan Lampung pada mata pelajaran IPA Terpadu menjadi lebih baik. Sikap kerja sama siswa mengalami perubahan, hasil angket self-evaluation menunjukkan kriteria sangat baik untuk indikator pertama (100%), indikator kedua (100%), indikator ketiga (88,89%) dan indikator keempat (100%). Selanjutnya menunjukkan kriteria baik untuk indikator kelima (66,67%). Hasil angket peer-evaluation menunjukkan kriteria sangat baik untuk indikator pertama (94,44%), indikator kedua (88,89%) dan indikator keempat (94,44%). Selanjutnya menunjukkan kriteria baik untuk indikator ketiga (77,78%) dan indikator kelima (66,67%).

Abstract

The purposes of this action research are (1) to improve the concept understanding on excretion system through the implementation of guided inqury learning model, (2) to know the influence of guided inquiry learning model toward students concept understanding on excretory system, and (3) to know the level of student understanding on excretory system concepts. This study is an action research (Classroom Action Research) was carried out in three cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects were students of class XI IPA ICT SMAN Kebakkramat in academic year 2013/2014. Data were obtained through cognitive tests, observations, and interviews. Data analysis techniques using qualitative descriptive analysis techniques. Data validation using triangulation techniques. The results showed an increase in students' understanding of concepts for each sub subject of Excretory System. The level of understanding of the concept increased by 33.7% in the sub subject of skin excretory system, 8.93% in sub subject excretory system of the lungs, 22.62% in sub subject of renal excretory system, 20.7% in the sub-principal discussion liver excretory system, 8.93% in sub subject excretory system disorders, and 17.27% in sub subject of animal excretion system. Based on the results of this study concluded that learning through Guided Inquiry models can enhance students' understanding of the concept of excretory system grade XI IPA ICT SMAN Kebakkramat in academic year 2013/2014. Keywords : Guided Inquiry Learning Model, Understanding Concept

Abstract

Research aims to analyze the impact of Guided Discovery Learning model combined with Concept Map toward concept understanding on immune system of students grade XI. The research was a quasi-experimental research with post-test only with non-equivalent groups. The population was all classes of grade XI IPA of SMA N 6 Surakarta. The sampling technique was cluster sampling and data was collected by test and non test method. A multiple choice test and essays was developed to measure students concept understanding on immune system. Meanwhile, the non test methods consisting of documentation, observation, and questionnaire were developed to asses the learning process, psychomotoric, and affective domain. Hypothesis test were analysed by t-test using SPSS version 16. The result are Guided Discovery Learning models with Concept  Map is more effective to improve concept understanding on immune system of  student, and it also found that students have most misconceptions in mechanism of immune system, antigen and antibody, and also affect of immune system. Keywords: Guided Discovery Learning, Concept Map, concept understanding

Abstract

The research aims to improve the quality of student’s content writing in biology through implementation of Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. The research is a Classroom Action Researc carried out for 3 cycles. Subjects of this research were students of class XI MIPA 4 SMA N 7 Surakarta with the number of 31 learners. The research data was collected through writing documentation, observation and interviews. The validity of the data is performed using the technique of triangulation method. The research using qualitative descriptive analysis techniques. The results of the analysis of quality students content writing in the pre-cycle is 0; cycle 1 identified a score of 2, 3 and 4; 2 cycles identified a score of 2, 3, 4 and 5; score 3 identified a score of 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. All quality content writing cycle 1 to cycle 3 are at level 1 in the category of writing skills. Keywords: PBL, quality of content writing, level writing skills, content writing score

Abstract

The aim of the study was to calculate the score pattern on the concept map (CM) of the students by applying instructional instruction technique of teacher in searching for the theoretical background of the driving question on project based learning. The subjects were 32 high school students. The research is a classroom action research with research procedure including: planning to prepare RPP and its completeness, implementation on activity of action, observation to calculate CM pattern score and reflection for next action. Triangulation validation test includes: verification of conformity of CM pattern score and documentation based on expert pattern CM and interview to represent learners' skill structure. Reduction is done to select the completeness of data, presenting the data and drawing conclusions based on the complete data pattern. Data analysis with qualitative descriptive. The results showed that the pattern score based on the expert pattern of CM on precycle was obtained from 40% -60% range with 46,875% of total learner got score below average and 0% above average. Cycle I obtained a score range of 40% -100% with 9.375% showing scores below average and 43.75% above average. Cycle II obtained a score range of 40% -80% with 15.625% indicating scores below average and 12.5% above average, thus the instructional technique question in the searching phase for the theoretical background of the driving question project based learning increases the score pattern CM both individual and classical.

Abstract

This research is aimed to know causal relationship between  knowledge,accomplishment, stimulation, integrated regulation, identified regulation, introjected regulation, and external regulation  with  cognitive  learning achievement  of  biology  at SMA Negeri 1 Karanganyar in academic year 2011/2012 simultaneously. This was a correlational research and conducted upon high school student at SMA Negeri 1  Karanganyar  in academic year  of  2011/2012. The sample was taken among 115  samples of  student using  stratified random  sampling  technique.  Documentation technique was used to    uncover student’s cognitive learning achievement, while aspects of motivation was measured by using questionnaire. The obtained data was analysed using multiple regression analysis in SPSS 16.  The result showed that there was a  negative  correlation betweenaccomplishment and introjected regulation  with  cognitive  learning achievement of     biology at SMA Negeri 1 Karanganyar in academic year 2011/2012 simultaneously. But the others  such as knowledge, stimulation, integrated regulation, identified regulation, and external regulation  showed no correlation  with cognitive  learning achievement    biology of the students of SMA Negeri  1 Karanganyar  in academic year 2011/2012    simultaneously. Key Words:  aspects of learning  motivation,  cognitive learning achievement ofbiology, multiple regression analysis
