Abstract

Najib Machfudz is an Egyptian writer whose majority of his works are philosophical. His philosophical works cannot be separated from their influence on the thoughts of writers, thinkers and politicians. Readers of philosophical literary works certainly need their own understanding to be able to enjoy these literary works. One of the literary works that need to be understood by the readers is Layali Alfu Lailah by Najib Machfudz. The meaning of this work can be read by reading the semiotics of literature on the work. Thus, indirectly, this study aims to reveal the meaning of the novel Layali Alfa Lailah. The method for expressing this meaning is by reading heuristics and reading hermeneutics, or reading both of these is done directly together. As a qualitative research, this novel will be described according to the results of heuristic and hermeneutic readings and strengthened by explanations from secondary data supporting other analysis. Thus, the results of this study can be concluded that the novel Layali Alfu Lailah is a symbolic novel philosophy that concretely contains criticism and solutions from Najib Machfudz on the socio-political realities that occur around him and are experienced by the author. The benefit of this research is to provide examples of problems and alternative solutions to problems faced by a nation. This good example has a good influence on the readers.

Abstract

This research aims to understand and describe the phenomenon of repetition in six popular songs by Denny Caknan. This study employed a descriptive qualitative method, using content analysis and a discourse analysis approach referring to Sumarlam (2024). The data were collected through listening and note-taking techniques from the lyrics of Denny Caknan's songs, specifically from his YouTube channel, DC Musik. The songs analyzed include "Kartonyono Medot Janji," "Sugeng Dalu," "Los Dol," "Angel," "Satru," and "Kalih Welasku." The findings reveal 35 instances of repetition across the selected songs. Five types of repetition were identified: epizeuxis (10 data), anaphora (1 data), epistrophe (1 data), epanalepsis (1 data), and full repetition (22 data). "Kartonyono Medot Janji" contained the most repetitions. The dominant types of repetition found were full repetition and epizeuxis. The use of repetition in Denny Caknan's songs serves to emphasize specific messages. This study is expected to provide insights for future research on discourse analysis, particularly concerning repetition in song lyrics.

Abstract

Linguistically, colors are categorized into two parts, namely basic colors and non-basic colors. Each language has a different naming form and number of base colors. This research is descriptive qualitative which aims to determine the basic and non-basic colors in the Sumenep dialect of Madura. The data in this study is the color vocabulary of the Madurese language obtained from 18 informants with the help of research instruments in the form of 139 color cards on the standard color names on the web. The data found were analyzed using Berlin and Kay's (1969) universal color theory and combined with an ethnolinguistic approach to find cultural identity through the language used. As a result, the Madurese language has 6 basic color names, namely potѐ 'white', celleng 'black', mѐra 'red', bhiru 'green', konѐng 'yellow, and coklat 'chocolate', as well as 3 color names belonging to non-basic colors. , namely bhiru 'blue', bungo 'purple', and bubu 'grey'. The implicational hierarchy of basic colors in the Madurese language is different from the implicational hierarchy of the universal basic colors of Berlin and Kay which is the result of a study of 98 world languages. This proves that every language in the world has different color boundaries and different rules for classifying basic colors

Abstract

This research focuses on the development of a question-answering intelligent agent for specialized domains based on a knowledge graph, using the field of English linguistics as an example. English linguistics encompasses a vast array of conceptual terminology and a complex knowledge structure that often lacks sufficient concrete language examples for illustration. Traditional information retrieval methods fall short in meeting the advanced demands of semantic comprehension and knowledge inference required in linguistics education. To address these challenges, this study employs Graph Retrieval-Augmented Generation (GraphRAG) technology to design and implement an intelligent agent on the Wenxin Agent Platform. This agent integrates large language models with structured knowledge graphs to enhance the performance of real-time question-answering. The knowledge graph functions as a structured repository that organizes domain-specific linguistic knowledge, thereby expanding the agent's knowledge reserve and enabling more precise responses that facilitate students' systematic understanding of linguistic concepts. Evaluation results indicate that the proposed agent surpasses general-purpose models in response accuracy and professionalism, depth and logical coherence, and explanatory transparency, while effectively addressing hallucination issues common in conventional large language models. The system demonstrates enhanced domain adaptability and improved reasoning performance within linguistic contexts.

Abstract

Google Translate is a highly advanced tool, but it still makes many mistakes when translating from Indonesian to Arabic. Subjectivity has been avoided, and the language used is clear, concise, and objective. No new aspects have been added to the content of the original text. This research focuses on errors related to word choice and unnecessary additions that can cause translation errors. This research focuses on errors related to word choice and unnecessary additions that can cause translation errors. Technical terms are explained when first used, and precise word choice is employed. The text is free from grammatical errors, spelling mistakes, and punctuation errors. Quotes are clearly marked, and filler words are avoided. This research focuses on errors related to word choice and unnecessary additions that can cause translation errors. The text adheres to conventional academic structure and formatting, with a logical flow of information and causal connections between statements. The language used is formal, avoiding contractions, colloquial words, informal expressions, and unnecessary jargon. Positions on subjects are made clear through hedging, and bias is avoided. This study utilizes a descriptive qualitative approach. The data is collected through techniques such as documentation and interviews. The data sources for this study are students who have completed their theses in the Arabic Language Education (PBA) study program. The research and discussion revealed two errors in the translation of Indonesian to Arabic in the theses of students who used advanced translation tools. These errors included incorrect word choices and the addition of unnecessary words. Therefore, it is important for users of Google Translate to be aware of potential errors that may occur when using the tool. Additionally, Arabic learners should have a strong grasp of the rules of the Arabic language. The primary objective is to ensure that the source language remains true to its intended meaning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse directive speech acts found in the comic Kisah Petualangan Kyai Sadrach. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach with a pragmatic perspective. The data source of this study is the dialogue between characters in the comic Kisah Petualangan Kyai Sadrach. The data consist of utterances containing directive speech acts collected through reading and note-taking techniques. The analysis is based on the classification of directive speech acts proposed by Searle and Vanderveken (1989). The results show that there are 55 directive utterances classified into 10 types of directive speech acts, namely requesting, asking, commanding, prohibiting, suggesting, ordering, warning, advising, praying, and pleading. Among these types, asking is the most dominant directive speech act with a percentage of 52,7%, indicating that the characters frequently use questions to obtain information and clarify situations within the narrative. The variety of directive speech acts demonstrates how the characters use language to influence the actions of other characters and develop interactions within the storyline.

Abstract

This research analyses how young and old people have different views on swearing in conversation. There are several factors including, social, developmental, cultural, and individual factors that shape difference amongst the people. The views on the values are based on philosophical theory. The focus is not only on how people give their point of view on swearing in conversation but also what they think about their suggestion of the use of swearing. This is a qualitative research with sociolinguistic approach and uses observation where there are ten people who are asked to give opinions on swearing. The findings show that there are youngsters who view swearing as a regular phenomenon while the mature ones are rather the opposite. The discussion covers how the different age puts a gap on the understanding and usage of swearing. In conclusion, the opinions from ten people are seemingly contrast but what is similar is the suggestion from the interviewed people which is to adjust the use of swearing carefully.
