Abstract

The household waste problem, particularly organic waste and used cooking oil, had become an environmental issue contributing to pollution and decreased community health. This research was conducted in Mekar Jaya Village, Panongan District, Tangerang Regency, with the aim of empowering the community through the utilization of kitchen waste into environmentally friendly products. The approach employed was Participatory Action Research (PAR), which emphasized active community involvement at every stage, including planning, action, and reflection. Training sessions on producing eco-enzyme from orange peels were carried out with the participation of the GENTA Community, while the creation of aromatherapy candles from used cooking oil was guided directly by researchers. The results indicated high community participation, with increased enthusiasm particularly for making aromatherapy candles due to their economic potential. Meanwhile, eco-enzyme was appreciated for its benefits in household cleaning and environmental health, despite requiring fermentation time. Collective reflection confirmed that these activities had improved community skills, expanded understanding of waste management, and opened opportunities for sustainable home-based enterprises. This study demonstrated that a participatory approach effectively addressed environmental issues and supported local economic empowerment.

Abstract

Abstr This community service project aims to develop and implement an Android-based point-of-sale application at Kedai Sasya to address efficiency issues caused by the continued use of manual transaction and inventory tracking systems. The project was carried out using the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method, which actively involves partners throughout the stages of planning, action, observation, and participatory reflection. Technically, during the action phase, the application was developed using the Waterfall software development approach, which includes requirements analysis, design, implementation, and testing. The resulting application is equipped with features for digital transaction recording, menu management, inventory monitoring, and automated reporting based on Firebase. Based on the results of testing and participatory evaluation with users, the implementation of this system has proven successful in accelerating daily transaction processes and significantly minimizing recording errors (human error). Although deemed very helpful, the reflection results indicate the need for further development of real-time stock notification features and the ability to export reports to Excel format. Overall, the use of this POS application has successfully improved operational efficiency and supported better business decision-making at Kedai Sasya.

Abstract

The issue of organic waste management in rural communities, particularly in Hamlet 1 of Limbangan Tengah Village, remains a challenge due to a lack of knowledge and skills in processing household waste in an environmentally friendly manner. This has led to an increase in waste volume and the potential for environmental pollution in the surrounding area. This community service activity aims to enhance the community’s capacity to utilize organic waste through outreach and training on the construction of biopore infiltration pits and the use of eco-enzymes as alternative solutions for organic waste management. The implementation methods include participatory outreach, technical demonstrations, and hands-on practice with residents. The results of the activity demonstrate an increase in residents’ knowledge and skills in independently creating and applying biopore and eco-enzyme technologies. The impact is evident in the implementation of these two technologies within residents’ homes, contributing to a reduction in the volume of organic waste and an increase in environmental awareness. The uniqueness of this program lies in the integration of two simple yet effective organic processing methods, combined with a hands-on, practice-based educational approach. As a recommendation, similar activities should be continued with ongoing support and expanded to other villages to promote a sustainable, community-based organic waste management movement.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of training in the use of Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) content in enhancing participants’ knowledge and skills, particularly in the context of developing innovative guidance and counselling services in schools. The training participants consisted of 15 counsellors affiliated with the MGBK SMP in Malang Regency. The research method employed was a quantitative approach using a pre-test–post-test design to measure the participants’ increased knowledge regarding the definition, characteristics and advantages of MOOCs following the training. The results of the statistical analysis indicate that there was no significant improvement (Z = -1.723, p = 0.085 > 0.05) in cognitive performance following the training. Nevertheless, in practical terms, participants demonstrated a good ability to use the MOOC platform, access and utilise the training content, and complete the tasks assigned via the system.
