Abstract

Abstract: This study was conducted due to the low level of online learning participation observed during the second year of online learning implementation due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia. It aimed to discover the relationship between online learning motivation level and online learning participation rate. It also sought to study the difference between males and females in terms of online learning motivation levels. It was a descriptive, differential, and correlational quantitative study using the survey method. The population of this study was Grade XI students of a private senior high school. The students took part in filling out a paper-based questionnaire and the data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The analysis results showed that there was a significant correlation between students’ online learning motivation level and their online learning participation rate. Another important result was that there was a significant difference between males and females in terms of online learning motivation levels. It was concluded that the higher students’ level of online motivation, the higher their online learning participation rate would be. Finally, males have a slightly higher online motivation level than females. Abstract

Pandemi COVID-19 telah mengubah tatanan kehidupan manusia di semua belahan dunia. Aktivitas kehidupan sehari-hari dibatasi dengan aturan-aturan yang bertujuan menjaga kesehatan dan kelanjutan hidup manusia. Pada saat yang bersamaan, pandemi COVID-19 memberikan dampak yang sangat merugikan di berbagai bidang. Mayoritas penduduk dunia mengalami stress dan depresi oleh karena kesulitan yang mereka hadapi. Manusia membutuhkan solusi yang akan membuat hidup mereka kembali normal seperti sedia kala. Oleh sebab itu, peneliti ingin memberikan informasi tentang fungsi dari Bimbingan-konseling Kristen. Bimbingan-konseling Kristen hadir membantu meringankan beban kehidupan di masa COVID-19 dan new normal (perilaku kenormalan baru). Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan bimbingan dan konseling Kristen dimasa pandemi COVID-19 dengan ragam tekniknya dalam menolong banyak orang yang terdampak. Metodologi penulisan artikel ini adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Langkah yang dilakukan adalah pertama, membaca buku-buku dan jurnal-jurnal bimbingan-konseling dan penerapannya. Kedua, melakukan kajian lebih mendalam tentang bimbingan-konseling Kristen dan perannya. Kesimpulan yang didapatkan dari penelitian ini adalah penerapan bimbingan-konseling Kristen yang konkrit di era pandemi COVID-19 dalam pendekatan individu dan kelompok, yang dibantu dengan menggunakan alat media canggih internet. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the fabric of human life in all parts of the world. Activities of daily living are limited by rules aimed at maintaining the health and continuation of human life. At the same time, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a very detrimental impact on various fields. The majority of the world's population experiences stress and depression because of the difficulties they face. Humans need solutions that will make their lives return to normal as before. Therefore, researchers want to provide information about the function of Christian guidance-counseling. Christian guidance-counseling is here to help ease the burden of life during COVID-19 and the new normal (new normal behavior). The purpose of this study is to describe the application of Christian guidance and counseling during the COVID-19 pandemic with its various techniques in helping many affected people. The methodology of writing this article is qualitative with a descriptive approach. The first step is to read the books and journals of Guidance-Counseling and its application. Second, conduct a more in-depth study of Christian Guidance-counseling and its role. The conclusion obtained from this study is the application of concrete Christian guidance-counseling in the era of the COVID-19 pandemic in individual and group approaches, which are assisted by using advanced internet media tools.

Abstract

Abstrak Latar belakang diadakannya penelitian ini ialah adanya kebutuhan pembuktian validitas dan reliabilitas skala psikologi yang digunakan untuk mengukur stres akademik pada siswa. Skala psikologi ini digunakan untuk mengukur tingkat stres dalam belajar pada siswa SMA di sebuah sekolah swasta. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perubahan jumlah faktor/komponen skala dari jumlah awal yang hanya berjumlah empat menjadi enam faktor. Selain itu, temuan menunjukkan bahwa reliabilitas skala ini cukup baik. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa skala psikologi ini memiliki pembuktian validitas konstruk yang cukup dan serta dapat diestimasi reliabilitasnya secara memadai. Kata kunci—skala psikologi, skala stres akademik, uji validitas, estimasi reliabilitas Abstract The background of this research is the need to prove the validity and reliability of the psychological scale used to measure academic stress in students. This psychological scale is used to measure the level of stress in learning in high school students in a private school. The results showed that there was a change in the number of factors/components of the scale from the initial number of only four to six factors. In addition, the findings show that the reliability of this scale is quite good. It can be concluded that this psychological scale has sufficient proof of construct validity and can be adequately estimated for its reliability. Abstract

Depresi adalah gangguan mental yang umum, keadaan ketika seseorang yang sedang memiliki hati yang tidak tenang dan kacau. Depresi jika dibiarkan maka akan berdampak buruk bagi kehidupan penderita. Akibat-akibat depresi dibahas dalam tulisan ini, untuk dipahami dengan baik, sehingga ketika penderita mulai merasakan gejala dan indikasi depresi, penderita dapat menguasai diri sendiri agar tidak sampai pada titik depresi. Gangguan emosional ini sering juga dialami oleh remaja hingga orang muda yang dapat dikatakan mereka masuk dalam golongan Generasi Z. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah membuat pembaca paham mengenai depresi dan buruknya hal tersebut sehingga dapat mewaspadainya, karena ada banyak faktor yang dapat membuat Generasi Z mengalami depresi. Demikian juga peran serta guru, orang tua bahkan penderita sendiri untuk mengatasi hal tersebut jika sudah terlanjur, karena jika itu di biarkan dapat merusak kelanjutan generasi bangsa.

Abstract

The use of English song lyrics to improve students' English language skills at the elementary level is interesting to be investigated. This quantitative-descriptive research illustrates the benefits that Airmadidi Adventist Elementary School students can gain through learning using English song lyrics. By involving 60 sixth grade elementary school students as respondents, data was collected through a questionnaire regarding the use of song lyrics which was distributed to students. Data analysis was carried out using statistical means of average values ​​and the results obtained showed that the use of English song lyrics during learning was useful in improving listening skills, the ability to pronounce vocabulary accurately and correctly, as well as the ability to increase students' vocabulary. With the results obtained, it can be concluded that learning English becomes more optimal if it is accompanied by using English song lyrics in learning. That is why, it is recommended for English subject teachers to integrate the use of English song lyrics when teaching subject matter because of the benefits students can get in improving their ability to listen and pronounce English vocabulary, and even increase their vocabulary.

Abstract

This research was conducted due to the unavailability of teacher-made tests developed based on the principles of developing quality tests for use in schools. This study aims to analyze the quality of a Grade X English test items developed together with an English teacher at a private high school in Manado City, North Sulawesi. The developed test was intended to measure student achievement in the middle of the semester or called the midterm exam. The test consisted of 50 multiple-choice items that were tested on 133 Grade X students at the school. The results of the analysis show the quality of each item in terms of difficulty, discriminating power, and effectiveness of distractors. The final evaluation results on the quality of each item showed that, out of 50 items, there were only 11 items that met the category of qualified item difficulty level and differentiating power. Some items have one, two, or three distractors that do not function properly or are ineffective for their function as distractors. For this reason, all ineffective distractors must be corrected so that the items can be used to measure student achievement. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kualitas butir soal mata pelajaran bahasa Inggris Kelas X yang dikembangkan bersama dengan guru bahasa Inggris di sebuah SMA swasta di Kota Manado, Sulawesi Utara. sekolah. Tes yang dikembangkan merupakan tes yang diperuntukkan untuk mengukur prestasi belajar siswa di tengah semester atau ujian tengah semester. Tes ini terdiri dari 50 butir pilihan ganda yang diujicobakan kepada 133 siswa Kelas X di sekolah tersebut. Hasil analisis kualitas butir soal menunjukkan kualitas setiap butir dalam hal tingkat kesukaran, daya pembeda, dan efektivitas distraktor. Hasil evaluasi akhir mengenai kualitas setiap butir menunjukkan bahwa dari 50 butir soal hanya terdapat 11 butir yang memenuhi kategori tingkat kesukaran dan daya pembeda yang baik. Beberapa butir soal memiliki satu, dua, atau tiga distraktor yang tidak berfungsi dengan baik atau tidak efektif untuk fungsinya sebagai pengecoh. Untuk itu, semua distraktor yang tidak efektif harus diperbaiki agar butir soal tersebut dapat digunakan untuk mengukur prestasi siswa. Abstract

Abstrak Studi ini bertujuan untuk menjelajahi konsep dan praktik menjadi seorang guru profesional di berbagai tingkatan pendidikan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah tinjauan pustaka dengan mengumpulkan data sekunder dari penelitian-penelitian terdahulu, termasuk dari literatur seperti buku-buku, jurnal, dan artikel dari berbagai sumber referensi yang diterbitkan dalam periode 10 tahun terakhir. Fokus penelitian ini adalah untuk memahami bagaimana menjadi seorang guru profesional dapat menciptakan sumber daya manusia yang lebih baik untuk masa kini maupun masa yang akan datang. Temuan penelitian ini menyoroti pentingnya dedikasi, keterampilan pedagogis yang kuat, pengembangan diri yang berkelanjutan, kolaborasi, dan orientasi pada siswa sebagai karakteristik utama dari seorang guru profesional. Melalui penerapan prinsip-prinsip ini, diharapkan guru dapat memainkan peran yang signifikan dalam meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan dan membentuk generasi yang kompeten dan berkarakter. Studi ini menegaskan bahwa pendekatan empiris yang menggunakan sumber-sumber yang dapat dipercaya menjadi kunci untuk memperoleh pemahaman yang lebih baik tentang tanggung jawab dan profesionalisme dalam profesi menjadi seorang guru. Abstract

This study aims to find the correlation between students learning styles and their English academic achievement. This research used quantitative method which involved descriptive (MEAN score) and correlation (Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient) analyses. To gather the data, a questionnaire was used as the instrument to measure the learning styles of the students. This research used a convenience sampling method for the study. This study was conducted at SMA Unklab Airmadidi with 80 respondents from grade X IPA. The result of this study showed that students learning styles were correlated with their English achievement. Abstract

This study aimed to assess the extent of students' command of vocabulary and their level of reading comprehension among 8th-grade students in a selected private junior high school. It also sought to determine whether a significant correlation existed between students' vocabulary mastery and their reading comprehension. The research followed a quantitative approach, employing descriptive and correlational methods. The study included a sample of 90 students selected through purposive sampling. Two tests were employed as research instruments, one assessing vocabulary mastery and the other measuring reading comprehension. Mean Score and Pearson Correlation Coefficient were used for data analysis. The findings of this study revealed the following: (a) Students exhibited a very low level of vocabulary mastery, suggesting a lack of proficiency in vocabulary; (b) The level of reading comprehension among students was also notably low, indicating a limited understanding of their reading material; (c) A significant relationship was identified between students' vocabulary mastery and their reading comprehension. This implies that a higher level of vocabulary mastery corresponds to improved reading comprehension. However, the correlation was observed to be weak, suggesting the possibility of other influential factors impacting reading comprehension.

Abstract

This study examined the relationship between mindset and religiosity among graduating students from grades 6, 9, and 12 in one private international school in Indonesia. It also investigated potential differences in mindset and religiosity based on gender, grade level, and religious affiliation. Non-parametric tests were used in data analysis. Findings revealed a slightly more prevalent growth mindset and a moderate level of religiosity among the sampled students. While a weak negative correlation between religiosity and mindset is noted, it was not statistically significant. There were no significant differences in mindset and religiosity based on gender and grade level. However, there was a significant difference in religiosity based on religious affiliations, particularly between Buddhist and Christian students. Although mindset remained consistent across religious affiliations, implications suggest the need for educational approaches that consider religious and cultural contexts in fostering holistic student development.
