Abstract

Indonesia is not only an abundant country with natural resources, but also an abundance of cultural wealth. Cultural richness, if managed properly, can be a source of blessing for this nation, but it contains the potential for conflicts that can divide the unity of the nation. Too often this country has been engulfed in horizontal conflicts stemming from cultural differences. This indicates that public awareness in multiculturalism is still low. In other words, the multicultural character of citizens has not yet been formed. This is where the importance of the foundation of multicultural education in an effort to print human character. Character education needs to be done thoroughly through various sectors of life and this effort needs to be done consciously, planned and integrally. To realize this, a new paradigm in education is needed, namely education with an integrated multicultural approach. Efforts to build character values ??begin with building self and community identity that has strong character in facing the changing times and in accordance with the cultural roots of the nation. These efforts need to be done with an approach that is appropriate to the character of the community. Therefore, through planned and comprehensive and sustainable change, values ??in multicultural education through character education can fill the space of humanity, individual creativity in building their nationalism identity and identity.

Abstract

Ikhw?n al-Shaf? is an organization founded by a community that consisting of Muslim philosophers. This organization focused on da'wah and education. It developed at the end of the second Hijriyah in the Basrah city, Iraq. It is a discussion and teaching forum. In general, this emergence is motivated by concerns about the implementation of Islamic teachings that have been tainted by teachings from outside Islam at the time, and to reawaken a love for Islamic science. This organization views education with a rational and empirical view, or a combination of intellectual and factual views. This organization views science as a decribtion of something that can be known and experienced, knowledge produced by human thought that occurs because they get information sent by the five senses and then become developed knowledge.

Abstract

Abstract This paper discusses the thoughts of Paul Karl Feyerabend who criticized science which at the time was equated with religion. That everyone is required to believe and have the same way of thinking. Feyerabend then initiated the theory of epistemological anarchism as a form of his criticism of the position of science. The anarchism of knowledge carried by Feyerabend is a form of criticism of the establishment of a method in science, he called against method (anti-method) and criticism of its practice or function and position of science in society is called against science (anti-science). In his thinking, there are two things proposed by Feyerabend as his principle, namely the proliferation theory and the principle of anything goes. Feyerabend's thoughts in this matter are outlined in his book which is published under the title Against Method. Through the principles in Feyerabend's epistemological anarchism theory, it can be understood that the implication that comes from it is the pluralism of methods. Given Feyerabend anti against one method that is considered superior.Key Words: Paul Feyerabend, Criticism, Epistemological Anarchism, Pluralism.

Abstract

After the September 11th Tragedy, it was a kind of guarantee of an interesting discussion to be observed especially for observers of the Muslim world and the West. the incident certainly happened pros and cons both in the Muslim world, especially for the Western world. The event became a kind of anomaly of attitude. On one hand, the humanitarian tragedy tore apart the relational harmony between religions in America, but on the other hand, more people were interested in studying Islam and the Islamic world, it even became a magnet for other religious communities to convert to Islam. The following article is certainly not enough to meet the expectations in viewing clearly the sad events. The approach in this paper uses historical flow. This paper shows that although Protestantism is the dominant group in America, the role of Judaism and Islam cannot be underestimated, because although the initial motive for the arrival of Muslim immigrants to America was economic problems and the improvement of fate, it must be admitted that there was a kind of anxiety from the West, that they will bring religious ideology and build communities according to the ideology of their ancestral lands. Meanwhile, the four groups of religious attitudes towards American students are: groups with deep commitment, rigid in responding to religion; groups with deep, flexible, and open commitment; critical groups; as well as cynical groups and ignore religious commitments.

Abstract

Kartini is one of the great figures in history who is often simply and arbitrarily simplified as a figure of female emancipation. Yet when it is understood in detail in her life history, then the spirit of heroism is seen extraordinary, not only for women, but for humans and humanity in general. This article attempts to read the phases of Kartini's thoughts and actions through reading her letters to her correspondent friends. From these letters, it was read that there was a very human process in Kartini's life journey: from a liberal and radical figure, to a down-to-earth warrior figure. This transformation process certainly occured because of the influence of the environment she had faced. External literature that supports the reading of this transformation becomes urgent to get a more comprehensive understanding.

Abstract

Abdullah Saeed is a prominent muslim, sultan of Oman, professor and director of the Center of Contemporary Islamic Studies at the University of Melbourne, Australia. The purpose of this study is to understand Abdullah Saeed's thoughts about progressive Islamic movements in the context of sociology. This study uses his book as primary source and other literature. The results showed that Abdullah Saeed could be accepted in a minority Islamic environment because his thoughts about the development of Alquran law that allows changes in accordance with the times. Understanding and interpreting Alquran according to the needs of today's society. Alquran, if comprehended holistically, contextually, and comprehensively will be able to answer problems in the modern era, because It is the perfect and final holy book. Alquran never stops being studied, both by Muslims and non-muslim Orientalists. They find messages in the text by searching the history and social conditions of the recipients of the text which includes culture, customs, beliefs, norms, values, as well as institutions of the recipients of Alquran. The last stage is connecting the text with the present context.

Abstract

Mosque is a building where the Muslims are praying and basically it is a place to do all activities which is concerned in fidelity to Allah. Besides, it is an essay institution to create the faithful people, worship to Allah, people who do charity in their society life, have character, and solidly morals. The management of the mosque is an effort to attain the target of the mosque which is to realize the society, the people who are blessed by Allah SWT through the utilities that can be donated by mosque institution with its adherents. In this concept, the management of mosque is the controlling which is include planning, organizing, administrating and supervision to create a congregation who applicable with Islam demands, the prosperous society, harmonious, peaceful, with the willing, blessing and grace of Allah SWT, so the society are able to give rahmah to nature and environs. Generally, the existing mosque management in Kupang City has been implementing the five system elements namely planning, organizing, administering, monitoring and evaluation. The most prominent system which is implemented were the organizing and administrating, while the monitoring and evaluation system were still less attention. The routine activities done by the mosques in Kupang City were praying together, praying on Friday, feast day, zakat and flesh distribution, Al-qur'an kindergarten, Kindergarten and so forth. There was no unique and new activities founded such as entrepreneurship and so on.

Abstract

Technology takes all the integral roles in our life. Not only the roles of job commercial but also the roles of teaching and learning. Online learning is a typical teaching and learning process through electronic media of computers and the internet. This system calls an E-Learning or Blended Learning. E-Learning system is the manifest of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) that currently grows up rapidly in this modern era. In this 21st era, learners require to renew the knowledge of the way for learning through any technological tools. Both teachers and students must be aware of the use of technology and how to use it in the learning process. Some advantages of learning using ICT for teachers and students are necessary to be considered. Teachers can manage the large class efficiently because technology takes the teachers' role as the media of learning. Besides, a varied assignment can give effect. Then, the teacher can access the students' responses anytime in any places and also teachers can give feedback directly. Technology provides the chance of learning not only at school but also at home or in any place. This paper focuses on the understanding of using “Google Classroom" from the perspective of both teaching and learning. Findings in this research showed that Google Classroom could help teachers to manage the class, assignments, and report well. Students can learn any materials at any time and anywhere, track their progress, and students could enjoy learning like playing the game. This paper attempts to promote learning through online classes by joining www.googleclassroom.com, in which this online class is joyful for both teachers and students as Indonesian English learners. Abstract

The phenomenon of pesantren radicalism is something novel which recently happened. Islamic boarding schools as religious institutions are not actually established to be the source of radicalism. The pesantren has responsibility to produce knowledgeable religious characters or tafaqquh fi al-din. Therefore, pesantren teaches everything that exists in religion, from Tauhid, Syariah, and also morals. The pesantren development so far, with the intellectual capital that has been maintained by the pesantren, proves for making significant contribution to the formation and development of moderate diversity tone. In the diverse landscape of Muslim societies, pesantren are generators of moderate Islamic ideology, even though the degree of modernism is not explicitly affirmed in the texts of the yellow book (Kitab Kuning). Thus, the pesantren curriculum in itself has proven to be sufficient in the formation of the Islamic entity rãhmatan lil álamin. Keywords: Pesantren, curriculum, radicalism, moderate.
