Abstract

Composter fertilizer can be one way to overcome the problem of environmental pollution by reducing organic waste and utilizing it into useful products. Through the PMD KKN (Village Community Empowerment) service activity carried out by students of the University of Mataram aims to invite the village community to utilize and process waste into new useful products. This activity was held on July 25, 2024 at 09.00-11.00 WITA which was held at SDN 1 Jelateng, Tumpak Village, Pujut District, Central Lombok Regency. The method used in the implementation of this KKN service activity is socialization and education about making composter fertilizer. It is hoped that this activity can make the community educated so as to increase participation in sustainable waste management. The implementation of this activity received a positive response from the enthusiastic community who could help reduce the volume of waste generated from kitchen activities. The result of this KKN service activity is to increase public awareness about the importance of maintaining environmental cleanliness, how to manage organic waste, and a better understanding of the community about processing kitchen organic waste into composter.

Abstract

Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) is one form of implementation of the Tri Dharma of higher education, namely community service. In the KKN activities carried out in Jembatan Kembar Timur Village, Lembar District, the Mataram University KKN student group carried out various activities with the main target of handling problems in the field. In the KKN PMD activities carried out in Jembatan Kembar Timur Village, Lembar District, West Lombok Regency, the KKN PMD Student group of Mataram University carried out various activities with the main target of addressing problems in the context of Green Economy. Jembatan Kembar Timur Village is a village where most of the population earns a living as farmers and breeders. In this village there is one hamlet that is located on a high hill, the hamlet is Tibu Lilin Hamlet which is the only hamlet in Jembatan Kembar Timur Village that is located on a hill. There are still many people who are not aware of the importance of cleanliness and how to manage waste properly. Therefore, the purpose of implementing this KKN PMD activity is to overcome several problems related to the community's difficulty in minimizing household waste, and the community's dependence on the use of chemical fertilizers which can have a negative impact on crop yields and damage the soil, lack of community knowledge about the use of compost. There are several methods carried out, namely surveys and socialization, as well as training in making fertilizer from household waste. Household waste is often a complex problem in various regions, including in Jembatan Kembar Timur Village, West Lombok. One solution to overcome this problem is to process organic waste into compost using a biopore system. This KKN PMD UNRAM activity aims to identify the effectiveness of the biopore system in processing household waste into compost, and analyze its impact on soil quality and the environment in Jembatan Kembar Timur Village. The methods used include making biopore holes, filling in organic waste, and monitoring the decomposition process. The results showed that the biopore system is able to accelerate the decomposition process of organic waste, produce quality compost, and provide significant benefits in improving soil fertility and reducing the volume of waste that must be disposed of. In addition, the implementation of this system at the household level is also proven to increase public awareness of the importance of environmentally friendly waste management. Thus, the biopore system can be a sustainable solution in household waste management in rural areas.

Abstract

Dasan Geria Village is a village in Lingsar District, West Lombok Regency which has potential as a tourist village because it has a variety of tourist attractions. One of the tourist attractions is the very beautiful Jero Kerti waterfall. From the beauty of the Jero Kerti waterfall tourist attraction, there are several challenges faced, namely the lack or limitations of development of the tourist attraction, difficult road access, lack of awareness of local residents regarding efforts to maintain the sustainability and naturalness of the tourist attraction, as well as efforts to legalize the tourist attraction. To overcome these challenges, an ecotourism-based tourist attraction development program was held by the PMD - UNRAM 2024 KKN group, with the aim of empowering the community in managing sustainable tourist attractions through socialization activities, observing tourist attractions, making guidebooks and workshops on ecotourism. held on 2 July – 22 August 2024 in Dasan Geria Village. This program has produced results in the form of increased awareness and knowledge of the community or their desire to be involved in the programs offered. To start efforts to develop tourist attractions based on Jero Kerti waterfall ecotourism, an MOU letter was prepared as a first step. Abstract

Waste is one of the problems that are found in many countries throughout the country. Waste is waste produced by the activities of living things and then thrown away without waste management, causing accumulation. The accumulation of garbage is the result of low public awareness regarding the importance of waste processing activities, especially household waste which is found in every house in an area. The amount and type of waste continues to increase, This can be seen from data from the National Waste Management Information System (SIPSN) in 2024 which notes that unmanaged waste reaches 35.96% equivalent to 11,605,262.32 tons/year, based on the source household waste reaches 49.6% of other waste. The problem is related to the amount of waste that is not processed properly, causing the environment to be dirty in Gunung Malang village. The pile of household waste consisting of organic and inorganic waste is due to the limited landfill (TPA) and waste transportation fleets that enter the Gunung Malang village area, in addition to the lack of public awareness related to waste sorting and management is the cause of the lack of cleanliness and environmental health. The solution obtained is to conduct education on waste sorting and the use of organic waste by using the biopore infiltration hole method as an organic waste disposal site. Providing material related to the benefits of biopore infiltration holes by DLHK and planting at several points. Biopore infiltration holes function as water catchments and organic waste reservoirs that have benefits as compost.

Abstract

The Community Real Work Program (KKN PMD) is an educational program that provides students with direct experience in identifying and overcoming community problems by practicing the knowledge they have gained on campus. In this program, Mataram University students implemented the "Utilization of Local Resources to Prevent Stunting" project in Panji Sari Village, Central Lombok. Stunting is a major health problem in Panji Sari, with a high prevalence of 30.8% among children under five years old. This program aims to reduce stunting through outreach and providing nutritious food or PMT by utilizing local resources, especially tilapia from village dams. This program is implemented by conducting cooking demonstrations and providing additional food (PMT) for pregnant women and children with stunting. The cooking demonstration taught participants how to cook nutritious food using tilapia, as well as providing them with PMT/healthy food packages. The PMD KKN program is implemented in Panji Sari Village, Central Lombok, to tackle stunting through education and providing PMT by utilizing local resources. This program includes cooking demonstrations and providing additional food (PMT) for pregnant women and children diagnosed with stunting. A total of 35 participants took part in a cooking demonstration and received PMT packages. Participants were actively involved in the cooking process and appreciated the simplicity and affordability of the recipe and were active in asking questions and answers about healthy food to overcome stunting. This PMT package contains around 223.1 kcal of protein, 9.8 g of fat and 8.9 g of carbohydrates. This program shows the optimal use of local resources in Panji Sari in overcoming the problem of stunting and promoting healthy eating habits in the community.
